I definitely agree that Offkai outgrew the venue. The volunteers were talking about how last year people could freely come and go to the night market. I got in the line 45 minutes before the market started, and still had to wait half an hour after the market opened because the room was at capacity and they could only let people in as others left.
@COSun25 In April there was a lady that quit a yugioh tournament due to the players smelling bad. This happened after Konami put in a rule where you can get disqualified for bad hygiene.
There's a card combo that can force your opponent to accept a handshake and some people would make their hands so disgusting then call judges to demand that their opponent forfeit if they refused to touch the gross hand. There was eventually a rule to state your opponent only had to accept the *idea* of the handshake instead of physically touch.
A vtuber friend of mine had a meet and greet there, she wasn't actually physically there though, just as a screen while she herself stayed in Canada. She's a small time indie vtuber so it was a very small meetgreet, I should ask her how it went
You should go to Defcon! It's a hacker/cybersecurity conference at the Las Vegas convention center from August 8 to 11. The main thing for you would be the villages at Defcon, which have a ton of hands-on/visual activities revolving around the security topics of those villages. I think it would be at least an 45-minute video for you. There is only one ticket price which is $480
I've been to conventions on empty university campuses out of term time, I've been to ones in dedicated expo halls, and I've been to ones in hotels that have other guests there. The ones in shared hotels are without fail significantly more stressful for both attendees and organisers. For small events finding their feet I can see the benefit, but for anything established it is definitely worth making that step to have a dedicated space
I was a vtuber who attended all 3 days at the convention. Definitely was way too packed, I went to the vendor hall on day 2, and it was elbow to elbow. With the constant contact with strangers, and some ... unsavory smelling folks.... I didn't want to stay long to browse at all for potential merch. The lack of security was anxiety-inducing. I realized that anyone could have brought anything and that was scary. I felt like at some points that I was more on the lookout for danger and a safe way out, rather than just enjoying my stay and time with my friends. It was definitely way over crowded, and felt a little disorganized at times. I understand they're running on a volunteer crew for the most part, but still, they had thousands of people attending there has to be more order and structure 😭 Hoping next year they move to a more spacious venue, with AC and proper security!!
You mentioned that a lot of artists like to put you in their background as they work. Just thought it would be fun to share that I'm a grad math major who does the same thing while I do my notes/hw. Thanks for the calming environment and take a nap!
note to amanda: stop mentioning verbally in your videos how you travel alone. start sprinkling details that are you're armed n travel with a security team. one sneeze and BLAM!
I'd say the move is to say you travel alone, when you actually don't. If you say you travel with others, a crazy person would be looking out for the other person(s) that would be with the RUclipsr / streamer. Whereas, if you say you travel alone, and God forbid, a deranged person wants t%&;
I want an Amanda interview with Merryweather. He is a vtuber and a self-started businessman and it'd show her a WHOLE new side of the fandom. She has only seen the "Waifu" side so far.
Thank you for wearing a mask at the event; it really means a lot to see that as someone with MCAS. Most people have stopped masking entirely and it’s felt very isolating to be one of the few people still wearing a KN95. Thank you for your compassion; people like me really appreciate it! I hope you get a long rest!!!
We REALLY need to reinforce mask wearing at conventions. People REALLY think that the end times of COVID are over, but they're not. Plus, I don't want to deal with body odors.
masking at cons is so nice even if ur not immune compromised! u don’t get con flu, AND u don’t smell all the BO lmao. i always bring masks to cons now, even if i sometimes take them off for makeup/photo reasons. they’re such a lifesaver !!
I didn’t realize I was immune compromised until I started masking and stopped getting sick constantly I was like oop I’m just gonna do this forever now lmao!
Same - more often than not I'm the only one wearing masks I'm public still and it doesn't feel good. Especially at events like cons it always means so much to see someone else masking.
I don't know how it is in the United States. here in Germany I still see people masking up all the time. in public transportation, supermarkets, waiting rooms or government buildings. people also don't look at you weird if you do it. so I hope this message makes you hopeful that it can be different 😊
Swell I'm so sorry that you've started down the VTuber rabbit hole, it's only a matter of time now :( OffKai outgrowing its venue honestly isn't super surprising to me - VTubing has really popped off in the last couple years, especially in the English sphere, and I can imagine that OffKai was in a rough position of trying to figure out how much of that was actually solid supporters versus just casual fans. I remember you talking a lot about TikTok creators at stuff like VidCon who were objectively massive creators with huge followings that ended up with a lot of empty lines at meet and greets because their fans just weren't the type to get invested enough to travel and show up for them like that, and I think OffKai really didn't know what to expect from the VTubing community. VTubing is such a weird environment in general, but particularly in terms of the relationship between creators and their communities, so while they definitely do need to size up I think it's also understandable why they made the choice that they did. There's also a bit of an internal narrative within the VTubing space that the bubble either will pop or has already popped and the fad will fade, and I wonder if they were operating on the assumption that things were on a downswing as a result. Also, can confirm from personal experience, I feel like every VTuber I know is aware of your content. You might not be famous everywhere, but you're famous here lmao
So, a bit of vtuber fandom history (as far as I remember it, I might be wrong as I wasn't around for all of it)- From what I can tell, vtubing started really gaining its footing in the west when a clip of a Japanese vtuber repeating the n-word while playing GTA went viral on 4chan. Thus, a lot of the early vtuber fandom grew out of 4chan until vtubing started hitting more mainstream weebs with the debut of HoloMyth in late 2020. The 4chan bros are still a big part of specific parts of the fandom (especially less mainstream companies and certain smaller indies) and there are plenty of vtubers who try to pander to that audience. Phase Connect in particular accidentally became the de facto mascots of these fans when Pipkin Pippa started gaining popularity on Kiwifarms and helped bring the company to more mainstream popularity. The female fandom came a bit later in late 2021/early 2022 with the debut of Luxiem (the first group of English speaking male vtubers from a major company). imo, Phase Connect gets a bit of a nasty rep, but the company itself is pretty careful to try not to let itself get pigeonholed too hard as the "4chan company." I love some of the talents and frankly, the fandom is a double-edged sword as a lot of these guys hardcore project their own beliefs onto these girls and lash out when it turns out they aren't exactly how their fans imagined them. Pippa has had some of her fans turn on her for not being ""based"" enough, for example.
omg i was a maid at the offkai cafe and i would have DIED if i saw you i definitely agree that the event has definitely outgrown the venue, ive heard similar sentiments from guests >
Some days I wanna be a vtuber. But it’s mainly I want to see a funny design that moves with me, I could not do the hours long performances they do. Which is hella impressive
On the watching a RUclips video vs going option: I know that were I very into vtubers I would be energized watching things in like a "movie theatre adjacent" experience surrounded by others---however, I love the details about demographics, noise etc so that people can make an informed decision :) I'm more likely to focus and laugh around people, but I know friends who would find it anxiety inducing and too much
Very much agree about the movie theatre experience. Also, meeting other fans. I went to a 3 day anime con where nobody recognized any of the characters on my bag until I went to my oshi's group panel, where I got a ton of compliments and some people even gave out free merch for each member. It reminded me of going to kpop events, like concert movies and cupsleeve cafés.
the way I view vtubers I'm a fan of is they're characters played by the person behind the model. just like most influencers honestly but even more so because of the fantastical element to it.
Its been really fun watch you grow and learn so much on your vtuber adventure. I do really want offkai to do well and get better just because i love this space. It is surprising your comments on security, i hope that it does get safer just so nothing bad happens. (There's enough drama in the vtuber content space as is we dont need more.)
a lot of vtubers being right leaning was a big shock to me at first i used to watch a lot of pippa but i stopped because she kept saying weird shit, so when she brought up the pannel being cancelled she was my first thought 😭😭
what exactly does *weird shit* have to do with being right leaning. because the main problem and drama from offkai was that kirsche's panel invite got canceled because a few volunteers were *uncomfortable* with her being there because of *all the right leaning and anti trans shit from her* which is simply not true. to cancel an invite because a volunteer doesnt like someone should never be an option. btw this volunteer person also didnt want pippa there for the same stuff but whole phase connect told them *fuck yourself, its either we all come or none of us* so pippa could come.
Ty for your hard work. I go yearly to dragon con and it can be so overwhelming with the number of people. I always bring my switch to play to chill.out to while my husband games so i can rest in the hotel room. Being on vacation doesnt make me less of an introvert.❤ I hope you get some quiet rest soon.
I was unknowingly at OffKai Expo a couple of years ago when my wife and I were staying at this hotel. While we didn't actually attend the expo, we enjoyed seeing some of the attendees in dressed up.
As a vtuber I'm so obsessed with this series, so good to see people talk about it! Wish they had stuff like this in Aus but organised farrr better. We had the crunchyroll thing but that went horribly 💀
artist who listens to your videos while drawing here, as much as I love seeing new videos of yours on my feed, please take a break if needed! and to add onto your takes about the 2d concerts, I do agree that at times they feel somewhat... underwhelming (and I say this as someone who's been to multiple vtuber concerts at cons that had no 3d models) but I think another thing to take into account is that most vtubers don't have the means to afford a 3d model especially with tracking as the equipment can be very pricey. of course this can vary if the vtuber is signed to an agency (like hololive or phase connect for example) but with off-kai also allowing indie or lesser known vtubers to shine, it's not surprising that the concerts are usually just 2d models flailing around on a screen.
I was lucky enough to get two spots for virtual meet & greets from all the way in Australia, I really look forward to seeing how big Offkai can get next year. I'd love to attend some year.
I already have crowd and line panic attacks due to post-Covid issues. I could not imagine adding being recognized to that. I probably would actually die. My sympathies to you.
Aia Amare of Nijisanji EN was, and still is, my oshi--or KAMI-oshi (kind of like 'the oshi of all time'). I'm glad you got to experience this and get footage, because it looked like something I would really enjoy!! But please do get some rest, if the burnout is persisting.
I was at RI Comic Con the year the fire marshall had to come and stop people from entering, I (unknowingly, dw I paid) never got my proper badge and was never stopped once so it really wouldn't surprise me if the same would apply here. From experience, cons don't tend to realize they're past maximum capacity till an incident like OffKai had happens, RICC expanded the year after and i can only hope OffKai does the same,
Have you ever been to Spooky Empire? There’s one in Orlando FL in October of that interests you. I helped a friend work a booth last year and had lots of fun. 💜 (too many people dressed as Chucky for my taste though 😂)
6:35 u might be a quality over quality type of famous. kinda blown away that u don’t even have 500k subs, but i and the ppl i know who watch you genuinely value ur opinion. you come off as very no-bullshit and i deeply respect that.
The vtubing community tends to lean conservative and has a huge community on 4chan, and some vtubers have been accused of pandering to right wing reactionaries, including some of PhaseConnect's own talents. I get the volunteers feeling hesistant but also they need to have clearer approval process/guidelines if they want to take a stand. If they do take a stand against it it'd be difficult, because there's just a larger cultural problem in anime and vtuber media. Also why I tend to stick to the couple vtubers I know are chill and don't really participate as much in the wider "vtuber culture" stuff. I don't think I'd enjoy OffKai for the same reason-- I don't think I'm the target audience.
It surprised me (but shouldn't have, I guess) to hear that the turnout was so heavily male, because I'm like you and my own online VTuber experience is very much being surrounded by women, and I watch a lot of male VTubers that have heavily female fanbases. My perspective makes it feel that the "community" is relatively equal! But it's more that there are segments within that community and the biggest segment is heavily male fans of female performers, I guess. (I noticed that most of what Amanda talked about was "her" and "she" when referring to the talents, and not "he" and "him", which seems SUPER weird to me because on the indie side there's tons of guys.... but again, my circle of interest is the outlier when measured against OffKai.)
Yeah all the Vtuber fans I know don't really do a good job at dispelling the "anime nerd" stereotype. Smelly, don't really have a wide variety of interests, and tend to have weird views of women/minorities. I get not all are like that. But the 30 or so I've run into are all like that
@@lampdevilyeah i felt the same way of it being not that big of a difference between female and male, but ig it’s bc of who they invited, i don’t think there were that many big male vtubers at offkai this year? so if they’re mostly inviting big female vtubers then it’ll end up mostly male bc the big female vtubers usually have mostly male audiences, ofc there are some exceptions tho and i know a lot of indies with mostly female fans
@@jiaverse tbh given that OffKai has definitely outgrown their venue and much of the pre-OffKai chat in my circles (I'm a VTuber, too!) was lamentations of "I didn't get a panel/didn't get invited, woe is me" there not being as many male VTubers featured is more a function of spots being limited than anything, I think.
The big Vtuber companies (Hololive, Vshojo) are definitively not right leaning. Most big Vtubers arent like that but the fanbase totally is but creators definitively don't lean that way (only a few exceptions
As someone who's been in the vtuber space for a couple years.. There ARE a lot of right-wing weirdos that vtube. The anonymity really appeals to people who've been kicked out of other communities, or they know their opinions are a bit too harsh and require a "softening" of a cute model so people laugh at the contrast. It's really gross. A huge group of us are queer and really cool and the shittier ones tend to blow up fast.
really happy to see footage that includes masking at cons!! thank you :') i cant go to most events anymore because im disabled and no one masks so i like watching your videos to see what i missed, it means a lot to me that you wore a mask
Oh, well since you asked, Tokoyami Towa is my kami-oshi, and Pavolia Reine, Hakos Baelz, and Hoshimachi Suisei are my other oshis. I try to follow a variety from outside Hololive, kinda keep tabs across the industry, but those 4 are the ones I support the most.
It's worth mentioning that off-Kai had some pretty crazy growth between last year and this year in terms of attendees. They went from something like 750 to 2500.
@@manicpixiecremegirl it's an internal meme in the hololive community. That's one of the hololive vtubers named Suisei. She had an early stream of a amogus-like game, where she played a role of a complete psychopath with an axe and killed a ton of her friends. And after that she's been called and memed as Suichopath
I will say Offkai had a very... rocky few months before their con this year. From innocent corporate vtubers who were supposed to be there for meet and greets not going because of a concern about hate and harassment, to another group of indie vtubers having their stuff cancelled because massive drama happened that involved their entire group disbanding. From what I've heard from multiple people who've gone to Offkai multiple years, is that while it is fun, there's almost always problems that occur and this year was no exception unfortunately. Also there is a MASSIVE problem with right leaning fans/vtubers themselves. From homophobia to transphobia, misogyny, racism, ableism, etc. If you are a vtuber who is a minority then there is a high likelihood that you will have the most disgusting vile stuff thrown at you for simply existing and as sad as that is to say IT IS THE TRUTH. And there's been a number of very popular vtubers who've been called out for just straight up saying slurs on stream/on twitter, they double down (sometimes triple down), and then 99% of their audience becomes right leaning individuals who just watch them because "they're anti woke"... 😐
Yeah, the vtuber community has been getting more and more influenced by 4chan lately, and they're kind of ruining a growing corner of the space. It's really sad to watch happen.
Boohoo cry about it. Not every vtuber will cater to every community. And by corporate vtubers, you mean Nijisanji Vtubers whom were likely the ones that bullied talents into offing themselves, correct? The same corpo company that threatened to have Off-kai blacklisted from other JP actors if they let certain vtubers participate last year? Pretty hypocritical of your views if you ask me.
Holy cannoli, your friend's aesthetic is pristine. I had a little gay panic and got the vapors. I'm not surprised to hear it didn't smell the best, but still disappointed somehow? You think it would have been a sea of Axe bodyspray.
Oh I’ve been to a convention in that hotel! Big Bad Con, a much smaller ttrpg and board game convention. It’s definitely not the largest convention space. Works pretty well for BBC’s purposes because individual game sessions get individual hotel rooms, in addition to the panels, vending, and pickup games which happen in the larger rooms.
Have you considered asking folks not to approach you at events? I follow some other people that go to lots of events that have that rule and most people are respectful. However, I also get wanting to know if someone knows who you are, etc. Just food for thought; being perceived as a creator must be difficult
Swell you should try catching the anime convention Colossalcon! It is hosted in a waterpark resort convention center. They have multiple across the nation.
I really agree with how a lot of vtuber fans are right-leaning (probably because of its chronically online male audience). Although politics is smth that's usually not discussed among vtubers, I do feel like there is a handful of vocal, red-pilled type fans that are too comfortable saying some unsavory things that can make the fandom less welcoming. Sorry you had to see that side.
I was one of the vendors this year (we actually did a collab with Ashton)! As obvious as it was that the venue has to change, I am really going to miss this one. I haven't been to a convention in a while where it felt like the venue got in on the culture to the extent that this one did, be it with the standees and vtuber streams all through the atrium or the massive hotel-wide party that Sunday night turned into - the atrium truly felt like the icon of the convention by the end of the weekend. Despite the issue with the lines, from the vendor perspective we very much appreciated how much crowd control the organizers were implementing (your move, Anime Expo). The only time we felt overwhelmed was right when the vendor hall first opened on Friday, which in hindsight was definitely people trying to rush our Ashton merch before her concert. There were a lot of little things overall that I appreciated about the organization - they made sure to book a lot of the talent and vendors on the same floor, which both made networking way easier and I would imagine lessened the risk of random congoers being weird. You could tell it was a convention put together by people who want to do better than a lot of the bigger established cons that don't care about attendee satisfaction as long as they make money. That being said whoever broke the atrium escalator on night one, turn on your location, I just wanna talk
The point of live concerts is to experience the crowd interaction and be loud about your support. It's not equal to seeing a live karaoke on RUclips. I think Amanda was just completely worn out and needed a break Also, please bring hearing protection (earplugs) anytime you go to anything live indoors. Protect your ears from permanent damage
SWELL AS A VTUBER FAN ARE YOU OKAY i do agree with a lot of what you said though! def outgrown their venue, they should def move also yeah the smell. ooooooooooof edit: 13:10 AMIYA!!! if you want a vtuber to watch shes cool! big fan of retro games, so if you too like retro games you'll enjoy her content :D
From the sound of it this sounds very similar to the way holiday matsuri was run, I went for the first time last year and, similar to this, it was in a hotel room and the security was VERY minimal, on day one I literally did just walk in without my badge on, they did have a weapons check but it was out of the way as opposed to other conventions I’ve been to where you have to walk through it to get to the convention hall, from the sound of it I think this may be an issue in general for conventions held in hotels, it unnerved me a lot so thank you for addressing it here

Hi, Amanda!! I’m Ashton Marten, the VTuber you shouted out towards the end of the video! 🥹💖💜 I really wish you could have come to my concert as I think you would have enjoyed it since there wasn’t even a hologram at Miku Expo this year. It was pretty early on Friday which was unfortunate, but to provide some insight into why, it’s because I’m a rather small VTuber and it was my first time as a guest anywhere, so I don’t have a naturally large audience to pull like other more well known and talented VTubers. And that’s ok! I’m just happy to have had a place to perform and it makes me proud to know that so many enjoyed it or were intrigued by the idea of it. Maybe next year, I’ll make it to the Main Stage!!! But either way, it was super cool to hear your insight into the con from an “outsider” perspective. :3

for a moment I thought defqon in the netherlands which is a heavy metal/hardstyle festival that Ive been to XD I don't think Amanda would do that XD
I... I can't believe I missed Swell at OffKai Expo. I will never recover from this.
DIZZY BAHAHAA
SAME. I was staff too so I theoretically had a better chance 😢
Hey Dizzy! Enjoyed your 12 hour stream the other day! Blue woman good.
oh look who it is. my oshi :P
Thank you so much for coming to my panel, How To Dedicate Your Life To Your Oshi !! I really hope you guys enjoyed it and the rest of the con :D
I understand they're running on a volunteer crew for the most part, but still, they had thousands of people attending there has to be more order and structure 😭
Hoping next year they move to a more spacious venue, with AC and proper security!!
I'd say the move is to say you travel alone, when you actually don't. If you say you travel with others, a crazy person would be looking out for the other person(s) that would be with the RUclipsr / streamer.
Whereas, if you say you travel alone, and God forbid, a deranged person wants t%&;
Note to Mr.Baskins. Mind your business.
@@liliesrnice a woman saying she travels alone makes her a target
I want an Amanda interview with Merryweather. He is a vtuber and a self-started businessman and it'd show her a WHOLE new side of the fandom. She has only seen the "Waifu" side so far.
You mean the crippling depression side?
Referring to the comics, not the person
"I might come break your hand" Iconic.
Please be careful, Swell. If you don't take a chill you body might force you too. Mine started giving me fevers triggered by stress alone 🙃
Thanks for mentioning Ashton! A bunch of us fans went and we were all perplexed at the scheduling as well. But the concert turned out great!
Hi! I'm so glad you enjoyed my panel and everything vtubing has to offer, i hope to actually meet you next time! 😄
Swell I'm so sorry that you've started down the VTuber rabbit hole, it's only a matter of time now :(
OffKai outgrowing its venue honestly isn't super surprising to me - VTubing has really popped off in the last couple years, especially in the English sphere, and I can imagine that OffKai was in a rough position of trying to figure out how much of that was actually solid supporters versus just casual fans.
Pippa has had some of her fans turn on her for not being ""based"" enough, for example.
omg i was a maid at the offkai cafe and i would have DIED if i saw you
i definitely agree that the event has definitely outgrown the venue, ive heard similar sentiments from guests >
Some days I wanna be a vtuber. But it’s mainly I want to see a funny design that moves with me, I could not do the hours long performances they do. Which is hella impressive
Amanda: "I'll go to anything"
Gathering of the juggalos: "Hold my faygo..."
Always what broke you. Never what repaired you.
why is this weirdly ominous
This sounds threatening…..
People usually say "what healed me" instead of repaired.
the way I view vtubers I'm a fan of is they're characters played by the person behind the model. just like most influencers honestly but even more so because of the fantastical element to it.
Its funny how you bring up mousegirls. Did you see Zumi the mouse’s panel about avoiding burnout?
Its been really fun watch you grow and learn so much on your vtuber adventure. I do really want offkai to do well and get better just because i love this space. It is surprising your comments on security, i hope that it does get safer just so nothing bad happens. (There's enough drama in the vtuber content space as is we dont need more.)
I saw you at the con! I didn't stop to say hello because I was rushing to get to that day 1 concert you mentioned lol.
Just a small touch, but I appreciate the transparency of immediately saying the title/intro was an exaggeration and you're okay 😊
a lot of vtubers being right leaning was a big shock to me at first i used to watch a lot of pippa but i stopped because she kept saying weird shit, so when she brought up the pannel being cancelled she was my first thought 😭😭
Nope it absolutely makes sense they can say any view they want without showing their face
And that's a problem how? Pippa is actually not right leaning, but can say what she wants.
what exactly does *weird shit* have to do with being right leaning. because the main problem and drama from offkai was that kirsche's panel invite got canceled because a few volunteers were *uncomfortable* with her being there because of *all the right leaning and anti trans shit from her* which is simply not true. to cancel an invite because a volunteer doesnt like someone should never be an option. btw this volunteer person also didnt want pippa there for the same stuff but whole phase connect told them *fuck yourself, its either we all come or none of us* so pippa could come.
You should come to the Warren paranormal convention in Gettysburg in September! The Annabelle doll is going to be there! ❤🎉
17:28- whaaaaat, a caaat! :D I am astounded and terrified. A new vista has opened before me. Cat backpack. I am amazed.
What older video is everyone going to watch? I'm going to go to the Lilly Singh video and then maybe the Pluffle/Human Dog Bed video.
Please take care of yourself, don't burn yourself to the ground
I was lucky enough to get two spots for virtual meet & greets from all the way in Australia, I really look forward to seeing how big Offkai can get next year. I'd love to attend some year.
I already have crowd and line panic attacks due to post-Covid issues. I could not imagine adding being recognized to that. I probably would actually die. My sympathies to you.
My takes from this video:
Incredibly interesting subject, VTubers.
CAT. CAT IN A BACKPACK!
TAKE A NAP AMANDAAAAAAAAA
Aia Amare of Nijisanji EN was, and still is, my oshi--or KAMI-oshi (kind of like 'the oshi of all time'). I'm glad you got to experience this and get footage, because it looked like something I would really enjoy!! But please do get some rest, if the burnout is persisting.
Goob sighting in Swell's comments? So real
hope you're enjoying her outfit reveal!!!!!!
goobs do be goobin!
I was at RI Comic Con the year the fire marshall had to come and stop people from entering, I (unknowingly, dw I paid) never got my proper badge and was never stopped once so it really wouldn't surprise me if the same would apply here. From experience, cons don't tend to realize they're past maximum capacity till an incident like OffKai had happens, RICC expanded the year after and i can only hope OffKai does the same,
You should go to the Us Open in Tacoma on July 19-21th it’s a Warhammer event it would be fun to see your reaction to the miniature wargaming world
Have you ever been to Spooky Empire? There’s one in Orlando FL in October of that interests you. I helped a friend work a booth last year and had lots of fun. 💜 (too many people dressed as Chucky for my taste though 😂)
6:35 u might be a quality over quality type of famous. kinda blown away that u don’t even have 500k subs, but i and the ppl i know who watch you genuinely value ur opinion. you come off as very no-bullshit and i deeply respect that.
I completely get staying off site. My brain turns into Final Destination when I'm anxious.
I saw Serina Maiko in the thumbnail and RAN. My two interests overlap
Its ok swell we're already binging all your old videos ♥️
really happy to see footage that includes masking at cons!! thank you :') i cant go to most events anymore because im disabled and no one masks so i like watching your videos to see what i missed, it means a lot to me that you wore a mask
Anarchy is so beautiful what the hell
It's worth mentioning that off-Kai had some pretty crazy growth between last year and this year in terms of attendees.
They went from something like 750 to 2500.
2:45 omg be careful, Swell, that's a well-known psychopathic murderer!
can you elaborate?
@@manicpixiecremegirl it's an internal meme in the hololive community. That's one of the hololive vtubers named Suisei.
She had an early stream of a amogus-like game, where she played a role of a complete psychopath with an axe and killed a ton of her friends.
And after that she's been called and memed as Suichopath
would be super interesting if u went to kcon this year i would love to know your thoughts on it
Oh I NEED swell to go to kcon
thaaaaats why i was getting incel vibessss. that's unfortunate
I've always wanted to go to Offkai so I'm living vicariously through this video haha! It's cool learning more about the details as well!~
Holy cannoli, your friend's aesthetic is pristine. I had a little gay panic and got the vapors.
I'm not surprised to hear it didn't smell the best, but still disappointed somehow? You think it would have been a sea of Axe bodyspray.
you should go to the American Librarian Association (ALA) conference in San Diego at the end of June! YOU GET FREE BOOKS
Swell, as if you aren't willing to time travel for video.. come on, we know your commitment.
The four horsemen of bad hygiene: Smash tournaments, TCG tournaments, Hobby workshops and Vtuber conventions
I think Amanda would make a great manager or agent.
Time for Amanda to go on a vacation and tell nobody. Buy a flip phone for friends and family to contact you and just do what you want, no filming.
Your makeup is sooooo pretty and gives you the most natural glow and shows your beautiful bone structure🤩❤ I’m so jelly
Peach at the beach in July. Take a break yes, but you gotta start checking out the music festival scene, pretty please.
My friend helps run offkai the past 3 years! Really cool to see how much they've grown.
EVERYONE GO NEXT YEAR! ITS GONNA BE EVEN BIGGER 😊
Keyboard meetup. That's sick. I would hit that up is they had one in my area.
The point of live concerts is to experience the crowd interaction and be loud about your support. It's not equal to seeing a live karaoke on RUclips. I think Amanda was just completely worn out and needed a break
Also, please bring hearing protection (earplugs) anytime you go to anything live indoors. Protect your ears from permanent damage
Great video! This is why I follow you. I would never in a million years go to a vtuber convention but as a creator I do have curiosities lol
I really couldn't hear Anarkee on the little bits that she was featured at the beginning. :/
IM FICING DEAD I CANT BELIEVE U WERE IN BURLINGAME i live the next town over and i didnt hear a thing about this
Anarchy is so pretty, i love that green hair!
SWELL AS A VTUBER FAN ARE YOU OKAY
i do agree with a lot of what you said though! def outgrown their venue, they should def move
also yeah the smell. ooooooooooof
edit: 13:10 AMIYA!!! if you want a vtuber to watch shes cool! big fan of retro games, so if you too like retro games you'll enjoy her content :D
From the sound of it this sounds very similar to the way holiday matsuri was run, I went for the first time last year and, similar to this, it was in a hotel room and the security was VERY minimal, on day one I literally did just walk in without my badge on, they did have a weapons check but it was out of the way as opposed to other conventions I’ve been to where you have to walk through it to get to the convention hall, from the sound of it I think this may be an issue in general for conventions held in hotels, it unnerved me a lot so thank you for addressing it here
I hope you got to meet Tiffany Witcher. She's an old friend of mine, and she's amazing with every community she's part of.
I am a vtuber (png but model is being worked on) I like not having to show my face but still people having something to look at lol
My kamioshi was Mysta Rias rip
I still watch kuro but man I miss the detective 😔
Time to embrace your inner nap princess
"you know when your skeleton cringes"
That's such a great line
I personally never manage to get into Vtubing (I like seeing the people streaming as they are) but the smell reminds me a little of art school, LOL. At least they don’t shower because they’ve been painting for weeks, IG, LOL. 😂
As someone who has also realised they are a bit of a work-a-holic (but it’s creative stuff so it doesn’t count) REST!!! Trust me in the long run it’s worth it. Sending you good vibes :)
Hi, Amanda!! I’m Ashton Marten, the VTuber you shouted out towards the end of the video! 🥹💖💜
I really wish you could have come to my concert as I think you would have enjoyed it since there wasn’t even a hologram at Miku Expo this year. :3
