In the Philippines we have something similar to the taro congee. It’s called Ginataang (cooked in coconut milk) Bilo-bilo (glutinous rice balls) and we usually put sweet potato, ube (purple yam), banana, jackfruit, tiny pearls, and the glutinous rice balls. U should try it out, Leah! 🤍
That sounds so delicious!!
yeah! i was supposed to say it also. in bisaya we call it, dinuldog. ♡
we also call it binignit in some parts of visayas here in the philippines 💗
Is it street food there? I never heard of Ginataang but that's sound so good. Thank you for sharing!
@@gimmeymayo4999 Usually they make this as meryenda (afternoon snack) this is hot version of halo-halo minus the glutinous rice and coconut milk.
I am not asian but since turning vegan I've had an absolute obsession with asian food because of it's amazing variety, and ability to be vegan. I can always leave an Asian restaurant full without feeling hungry, and mostly filling up on veggies instead of carbs. And stir-fries from leftovers are so easy to make. This video gave me more idea. Thank you!
Watch the korean vegan, the food looks soo yummy on that channel
My family's from India, and we make something rlly similar to all of these!! The congee is called kanji and we add tapioca and coconut milk and sweeten it heavily with jaggery! The dumplings are like modaks and the pancake bears a close resemblance to veggie dosas!! All of the food looks yum! Sending love 💕
India is Asian-
Yes
My family makes a really good savory kanji where we add things like mango pickle! So interesting how there is so much variety and yet so much similarity!
as someone, who’s vegan, but also allergic to avocados, this is seriously a live saver 💛 All of them look soo good
YASSSS my family just moved in to a new apartment and can finally cook our OWN FOOD THANK YOU BAE

I ate so many of the flower buns when I was in China and completely forgot about them tbh but now I am craving it. The Taro congee looks soooo good. I deffo want to try it with some red beans and mochi dumplings as a dessert 🍠💜
Us Filipinos have something similar. We use ube or purple sweet potato, mochi balls, banana, and jackfruit, tapioca, coconut milk etc. We call it binignit or ginataang.
@@Ubeqween that sounds delicious 🤤

Leah I really wanna thank you for helping and motivating me to complete my one year of vegan journey. Eagerly waiting to try this out recipes after my finals lol
Adding coconut milk to the taro congee is a reaLLYY good idea!! In Malaysia also have a dessert similar to your taro congee called bubur cha cha (literally translated into "cha cha porridge!!"). Its base is made with pandan leaves and coconut milk, and it's filled with taro, purple yam and carrots. It's warm and comforting, and so very good. You should defo give it a try! :)
Love this video, thank you for it! It feels so cozy and inspiring to do some delicious food
That taro congee is super similar to what we have here in the Philippines! You should definitely try adding plantain bananas, jackfruit, tapioca pearls, and coconut cream! It's really good and comforting.
