@Tonloc1986 A lot of people @ EVO were really hyped when Poongko played in the Top 8. I think a lot of people there wanted him to win the most out of the other top players. You make it sound like people are looking down and underrating him, but only a minority are doing so. Most people admire him. It is easier to get a perfect using Seth compared to other characters because of his mix-ups.
@GamingFreaksHD You fail at logic. Now Daigo knows how Poongko plays, he'll have the advantage in those "2/3 games" at tournaments since he's the better player. In fact, I'm sure most of the top players would consistently beat Poongko with just a couple more matches played with him.
@royfancoolguy I agree that this boiled down to a guessing game, but Poongko's randomness also got him killed. I believe that if he stuck to a similar strategy, and tried to bait Daigo, similar to the way he was doing @ evo the set may have been closer. Daigo's anti aired alot of Poongko's jump ins this match so the dive kick mix-ups were limited because Poongko wasn't trying to eat dmg. My point is I would love to see Poongko switch it up because he's starting to be figured out by otha players
@Tonloc1986 u missed my point. i didnt say seth is top tier. i actually removed the tier talk from my post. i said whats important is the yun vs seth match up, not the tier list. this is a ft10 between only 2 characters, so this match up is the only important thing, the rest of the tier list is irrelevant. this imo is 5-5. but when seth has metre, its advantage seth cos his reversals have the better priority and added safety with FADC options. hence during his 50/50s he overwhelms daigo
@Altimus01 I'm a fan of both Daigo and Poongko. I'm not a fanboy. There's a difference. I'm a fan of ANYONE who shows themselves to be great at what they do. Fuudo said that Daigo was the best, so don't even go there, and I'm sure if you talk to a lot of great Japanese players, they will say the same thing if they haven't done so already. Obviously Daigo won, but the point is that what Poonko did in this set is not to be overlooked, doing it with a character less stronger than Yun.
Poongko's seth generates offense through jump-in mixups. In these matches Daigo was prepared with a mix of neutral jumps, AA trades, DPs, and various wakeup timings and forward/backdashes sometimes with FA. Through accurate application it nullified Seth's offensive options. These matches were 1-sided in daigo's favor much more than the 10-6 score signifies. These are non-character specific things and separates daigo's workmanship from his peers and I don't think are arguable.
Poongko is amazing, but I feel that if he didn't take so many risks he might play better. But then at the same time, it's his high risk high payout style which makes him a great professional player, if he toned it down I don't know if he'd win or lose more often then he does. It must be frustrating playing the way he does with Seth. I had a feeling that Daigo would win based on the outcome of that 30 or so game set they played a while ago, but still, great set from both players.
@Gonryoma Yes, both players are excellent. But the fact that Daigo wins 10-6 here and 22-8 before gives us an indication about something. Seth's random game, combined with Poongkos dps can sometimes be 1 : 3 guessing game for Daigo. All Daigo did was play more defensive and eat less shorys and more grabs. But, Daigo is better for winning more games overall essentially. Yes, Seth has low hp, but he also has insane mixups. So this is more of a guessing game at this high of a level.
When Yun was first released, he was intentionally blatantly overpowered. Daigo switched to him (heartless, but smart at the time), and stayed with him even after everything was nerfed into balanced levels.
Daigo never stayed with him, Kazunoko is the only one who stayed with him after AE12 update released. Daigo dropped him for Ryu immediately. Yun was still busted from December 2010 (AE arcade release in Japan) to December 2011. (AE12 release) Daigo brought out Yun at SEAM2012 against Xian in grand finals as a surprise counter pick for one or two matches but it didn't work out for him, so he switched back to Ryu in that set.
@TH44Faintear it's not mashing, it's how a person gets into rhythm, everyone has their ways. Poongko is far from a scrub. He's wayyyy top level. Do you know how hard it is to execute seth's moves?? give it a shot, you might fail.
@Tonloc1986 the tier list means nothing in a single match up. its all about yun vs seth which is at best 5-5 so forget tiers. tiers is made up of individual match ups anyway. super guile still had his bad match ups against lower tier while still being top tier
@darknewday4d Bug with RUclips. Go to the "Uploading Videos" forum on Google for other people having the same issue. This video took a massive 3 hours to process. Ridiculous. Hopefully a fix this week.
@Abirxtreme0001 And despite having all those tools, Seth still ranks lower in the tier of SSF4 AE than Yun does, and Seth isn't considered broken like Yun is, and I'm sure a lot of higher ranked Seth's would still tell you that Yun is an extremely difficult matchup. Having a lot of tools doesn't necessitate him being the best character in the game, if that's what you're implying.
@Zaxex At least a sensible respectful comment in the sea of trolls, youtube is getting bad these days, regards your comment "is he really better?" who know's? next match pongko might win but as it stands i think the only way to determine who is better is a fair fight in a long set which they done so you have to draw your own conclusions, also i agree that someone has to lose, the people saying poongko was free would in all probability be soundly thrashed by that performance.
@Tonloc1986 my original post didnt include people talking about seth being broken. i dont believe he is, so thats irrelevant to me. lesser players have perfected daigo. what u need to understand is that seth has the BEST mix ups in the game bar none. so its actually harder to perfect daigo with other characters. and like i explained seth with metre is horrible vs yun because seth wins every option. if daigo or anyone gets reversal happy, they will get beat by a perfect. simple as that
@g9ambit I disagree. Getting perfected by any character is a big deal. Seth is good in corner pressure, but you still have to execute and make effective use of his moves without flaw. As I said before, one bad mistake can cost Seth a round. Consistently perfecting top players is hard to do, even with Seth. Despite Seth's options, he's clearly inferior in many ways to Yun's playstyle. Not saying that Poongko didn't get outplayed, but it's very tough tier wise to compete well with Seth vs Yun.
@Captkillgame Whoever said a win wasn't a win? I agree with that, and I agree that Daigo outplayed Poongko here. However, everyone knows that despite Seth's good offensive options, Yun is simply better tier wise. He's basically S rank. I've been a fan of Daigo for years and he deserves his respect, but don't overlook the fact that Poongko did quite well himself with a lower powered character. There are even higher levels of competition than EVO, such as GG and SBO. All the US lost at SBO.
@xpuniShr88 Poongko hasn't even competed in nowhere as many tourneys as Daigo has over the past 13 years or so. If you want to be the best, it takes time to establish that. Daigo is the best because he's shown that consistently over a long period of time. Time will tell if Poongko becomes the best, but you're right. As it stands, Daigo is the best. I'm not questioning that. All I'm saying is that people should recognize Poongko's awesome skill, just like they recognize Daigo's skill.
@xpuniShr88 I also disagree with your point that Seth just gets perfects "anyway." There's no "anyway" about when it comes to getting perfects against good players, not even with Seth. Daigo has gotten lots of perfects with Yun, especially against Dhalsim players, in which it was reported that he had never lost a round until he fought Filipino Champ's Sim. If Daigo used Seth and got perfects, he'd be revered, but Poongko uses Seth, gets perfects and gets underated. Quite the double standard.
@yahoo1o1 i agree poongko did very good. 10-6 is very impressive, moreso than the perfects as thats the nature of mix up characters when they get going. lesser players have done it to daigo. anyway, i honestly believe this is a fair match up, i dont think one character has the advantage over the other just because of what their other match ups are.
@Abirxtreme0001 I've made it very clear that I like both players and that I want both players to be respected. Daigo has already proven himself, and his accomplishments speak for themselves. If you read carefully, I'm not sitting here looking at every comment of Poongko and haters and responding. That's a flat out lie. I posted maybe two comments saying good things about Poongko around the time this vid was put up, and I've got a flood of responses from people. Continued...
Both great Players but,I favor Daigo simply because he uses Yun and i'm currently learning Yun.Anyone can potentially up their respective game and learn a lot just from watching these two duke it out.
@Tonloc1986 ability to perfect somebody is strictly character specific. If it is a seth\akuma\fuerte its one thing, if somebody happened to perfect Daigo with Guile or Ryu, thats another thing. I do agree that Poongko is among best, but that "he perfected Daigo" argument is retarded. For seths perfect is just a win.
@Tonloc1986 Is perfect that big of a deal? Win is win! Poongko used Seth and he's perfected most top players included Daigo. That's Seth's main power with high mix-up and high stun rate. Poongko owned Daigo at Evo2k11 and Daigo got him back at this. It's an even score for these two players until they meet again in futre tournament. Actually it's a 2-1 in favored of Daigo if you counted 2009 Gamestop tournament when both used Ryu. Poongko still got something to prove, win at Evo. He's godlike.
I think Daigo is one of the best players in the world, Poongko too. Was a really interesting set between the two of them. Still, Daigo won, and props to him but does that just make him "better"? If that were true no two people would play each other more than once. I think they can both add to their game, and they'll have to adapt to ver.2012 anyway. In the FGC no one wins or loses? One person is always free/bodied? Grow up ^_^.
There is no real set Tier list, There are many just from what I've seen Yun has been A+ still on alot of then even after the nerfs, Yang was the one who got butt ended with the nerfs.
@fadcdrake Even matchup? I beg to differ. At best, it's a 6/4 favoring Yun. Seth does have options to deal with Yun, but so does everyone else in the cast if you know where to look. Daigo hasn't had this kind of Seth challenge to my knowledge, and he's played lots of them. He is a smart player and played strong here, but Poonko had even had a chance to easily finish a round, but he attempted to style too much and ended up losing the match. Make no mistake, this was no easy win for Daigo.
@yahoo1o1 Excuse? Wow. You simply don't get it. I don't recall saying it's hard for him because he has mixups. That's a gross distortion of the point I was making. I said it's hard because you have do your mixup game with Seth without flaw because one flaw could cost Seth a round to strong opponents. Perfecting your execution over time to make gameplay with your character better is not the same as properly implementing your execution against strong opponents consistently. THAT is the hard part.
@Abirxtreme0001 Let's make some things clear, since I've this a tons of times already, yet people such as yourself still don't seem to be listing: 1. Daigo outplayed Poongko in this set 2. Poongko took too many risks 3. Poongko had a chance to win a match, but carelessly lost it by trying to style too much As it stands, Daigo is still the best and deserves his respect, and time will till if Poongko will be able to get to the top and stay there. Continued...
@fadcdrake : not only Daigo but there are other japanese top player figured it. Look at godsgarden 4 , Poongko couldnt defeat them easily like he did with Daigo at EVO.
@yahoo1o1 You may not believe Seth is broken, but a growing amount of people have seemed to suddenly take that viewpoint when Poongko started winning convincingly with him. It wasn't relevant to you, it was relevant to my point about tiers as I've said before. It does not matter if Seth has the best mix ups in the game, he's still clearly not as strong as Yun is, and you cannot afford to make any mistakes with Seth, otherwise it will cost you the round/match. @yahoo1o1 After thinking about it, I've decide to simply stop commenting on this video together. More people will likely show up to respond to any of my comments and I do have life outside of RUclips. Thank you for the conversation, but you won't have to expect anymore comments from me, nor anyone else. Take care. :-)
@Tonloc1986 such a non-point, now you are saying they both are good players. I was initially talking about your "seth perfected yun = thats why Poongko deresves credit" argument, but you for some reason did a loop and start stating obvious fluff :)
@Tonloc1986 lol poongko isnt to be overlooked?? stop typing this nonsense to me. when did i ever overlook him??i think he is incredible, seriously stop it. btw no 1 over looks poongko, ive already told u to stop taking the comments of haters seriously, they dont matter. daigo has people that call him crap aswell, why make such a fuss about it cos its poongko.
both players not showing their a-game. this should have been both in the same room and an audience in the back for some hype. i found the matches actually quite boring. thanks as always for the upload though :)
How was that disrespectful? That whole display showed he took that match seriously as if it were his last. He wanted the hype. What would've been disrespectful would be if he walked on stage with a V for Vendetta mask and a shirt with Daigo's picture under it that said "umadbro?" In japanese, that would be disrespectful....
@Tonloc1986 was just reading through ur posts & honestly u sound like a daigo hater/poongko fan who just wont admit it. u say if daigo did what poongko did he'll be praised & the opposite for poongko. that is false, u only see what u want.. have'nt u seen the love poongko gets, all the hype? also havent u seen all the hate daigo gets, along with the love? listen dont pay attention to haters, they will always find a reason to hate on a great player, it happens to everyone, poongko's no exception
Major screw up at 24:29 he could have won easily if not worrying about charging his EX meter. It's time to get rid of EXs, Ultras and Supers and concentrate of pure fighting.
@yahoo1o1 like i said, the post i replied too of you, there was no talk of people saying seth is broken, so sorry if i dont want to talk about that. i dont really value opinions of people who throw around the word broken or overpowered
Thanks for the upload, Greg. I enjoyed it.
@Tonloc1986 A lot of people @ EVO were really hyped when Poongko played in the Top 8. I think a lot of people there wanted him to win the most out of the other top players. Daigo: "I got you this time POONGKY"
Poongko:" I got ya at EVO and nobody cares about it... -__-"
The youtube glitch is still there.Hopefully they fix that issue soon.
Thank you for the upload Greg.
I can't believe Poongko gave that round away like that!!!
@GamingFreaksHD

@purpledonatello It feels that way. He was very impatient on EVO too, unlike Fuudo, who pretty much relied on Poongko's misses to punish him.
Poongko's seth generates offense through jump-in mixups. Longer sets tend to carry more weight. Daigo redeemed his loss at Evo. I give credit where its due.

my two favorite players in sf :D i love these guys
Guile's theme goes with this.
Daigo got his revenge. I'd like to see how he would fare against Poongko in 2012, though.

Funny third round. As soon as Yunb activates super Seth is automatically screwed
Damn... Daigo's Yun is really not bad at all... in fact it's pretty fucking solid! *_*
Daigo kept hitting Poongko with those 70% combos. Such is life for a Seth player. d:
I like the part where Daigo is a badass.
That my friends was street fighter at a scientific level..
@xpuniShr88
I also disagree with your point that Seth just gets perfects "anyway." There's no "anyway" about when it comes to getting perfects against good players, not even with Seth.
I liked the part where Mago said "so desuuu neeeee".
This could've gone either way. Poongko gave Daigo too much respect in the middle games and by the time he adjusted, Daigo's lead was too big.
that was really stressful to watch. good stuff
i can't figure out why this isn't showing on the subscriptions box..

Thank you for the conversation, but you won't have to expect anymore comments from me, nor anyone else. Take care. :-)
Daigo has S O L I D defense
@tripelon i know, what the hell happened there?
an s tier character beating a low tier wow im shocked
@Tonloc1986 i appreciate your wish to analyze stuff, but you are crearly new to the game or Poongko's fanboy. If its first its okay.
@Tonloc1986 such a non-point, now you are saying they both are good players. I was initially talking about your "seth perfected yun = thats why Poongko deresves credit" argument, but you for some reason did a loop and start stating obvious fluff :)
@Tonloc1986 lol poongko isnt to be overlooked?? stop typing this nonsense to me. when did i ever overlook him??i think he is incredible, seriously stop it. btw no 1 over looks poongko, ive already told u to stop taking the comments of haters seriously, they dont matter. daigo has people that call him crap aswell, why make such a fuss about it cos its poongko.
wat the hell are the top comments fighting about smh
if poongko is a really good player he will learn and adapt just like daigo but this is just ouchies.. imo Daigo is all on his ass lol
WOW POONGKO JUST GOT DAIGOED
is this ae 2012 version?
Ahhh !!! Stop adding the stars when you're not in full screen mode!
both players not showing their a-game. this should have been both in the same room and an audience in the back for some hype. i found the matches actually quite boring. thanks as always for the upload though :)
24:29 WHY POONGKO WHYYYYYY!!!
well said man
1:15 How huge damege is!
How was that disrespectful? That whole display showed he took that match seriously as if it were his last. He wanted the hype. What would've been disrespectful would be if he walked on stage with a V for Vendetta mask and a shirt with Daigo's picture under it that said "umadbro?" In japanese, that would be disrespectful....
is seth an OP character in USFIV? just asking...
no
BUT
If you know how to play him as well as PoongKO does, he can be fkin deadly
he has tp and zangiefs grab and guiles sonic boom how is that not op?
Rafael Orcullo
Because his damage isn't high and he has either the worst HP or 2nd worst HP in the game.
egghead268 but I think it's so easy to get openings using seth bcoz of sonic boom TP then shoryu or SPD
egghead268 and he has that freaking wall jump and his ultra 2 from full screen and the fucking vaccuum, does he have the most specials in the game?
24:25 legend reborn
@KevinGoku2790 WTF was Poongko doing. He deserved to lose
No redbull, no win...
@Zaxex
yep, have fun hating couch potatoes, lol
I think Seth is a cheap character. More than Yun. Yun in full flow is fun too watch
@akathetruthteller 10 to 6 = free? You live an interesting life internet man.
How to beat poongko......JUMP!
Major screw up at 24:29 he could have won easily if not worrying about charging his EX meter. It's time to get rid of EXs, Ultras and Supers and concentrate of pure fighting.
@IHeartDieWaffenSS2 Citation please. :]
@yahoo1o1 like i said, the post i replied too of you, there was no talk of people saying seth is broken, so sorry if i dont want to talk about that. i dont really value opinions of people who throw around the word broken or overpowered
