Watched this last night 12.02.12 and actually almost cried twice. Was just incredible and I think that the occasional 'change' made the Flamenco puro even more striking. Carmen Cortés was as raw and puro as one could receive. Magnificent!
I attended this show on 11/02/12. I witnessed moments of pure flamenco duende. I also had to suffer a far too long interval of music and dance that had nothing to do with flamenco.
I am really fed up with this fashion of making it almost compulsory to 'innovate' flamenco by turning it into something that simply is not. if we want to see jazz, or ballet, there are plenty of daily shows in London we can choose to attend.
When I pay £40 for flamenco, I want to see 100% flamenco, thank you.
@mititogatito I am going to the same performance tonight. I too, find much "post-modern" flamenco a dilution of the essence of the dance and song form. I'll post a comment tomorrow.
