My Vlog of The Tokyo Marathon 2023 in Japan. See what it’s like to do this race from the Expo to the Marathon. World marathon Major number 4 out of 6 filmed with an Insta360 x3
Another great video, inspirational! May I ask, who are you acknowledging as you cross the finishing line? I always thank my late father for “getting me home”. Daft really but it’s become the norm for me.
Thank you for your kind words! I always thank God for getting me through as well as acknowledging my business partner who passed away from prostate cancer. It’s why I started running to raise money for PCUK during London Marathon. I know he’s watching me doing these Marathons 🙏🏻
Well done Hayden and Louisa, what an achievement! 🎉 Great vlog to share the experience. So many people running in your way up until 10km and then it seemed to thin out! Roll on 6 weeks time 🇺🇸
I think I watched this already with less than 6 weeks, 2 march 2025 time for a refresher, at least its 1 flight and 9 hours and only 1 hour difference in time zone for me. Starts look way crowded
Very well done , I am curious ; What was the temperature out like there on race day ? I noted a few of you quite well dressed where others were in frilly soar style shorts and singlets. Was your temp spot on or did you overheat part way through? (ie: if you had to do it again would you have kept to the same kit or gone lighter)
Hey JBS, Thank you! I personally thought the temperature was absolutely spot on. I choose to wear the under garment as knew there was a lot of hanging about to do before the start and I didn’t want to start the race cold. By the end my body temp was perfect as well. You are right though some people went best and others fully dressed. Weather for me in a marathon though was perfect!
Great video Hayden, especially as you were not sure if you would get away with filming. Expo looked crap, how long were you queuing up for, looked like a nightmare Not a bad time for what was supposed to be an easy long run 😄 Injury looks like it is behind you too 💪
Expo was a disaster! Queued up for about an hour for bib an hour for a t shirt and half hour for health tests. Was a nightmare. Injury felt ok on race day once I got started. Appreciate the nice comments, hope it showed what the race is like 👍
@@Runningwithhayden amazing! Thanks for your reply! What an experience, lucky you!!! Congratulations on edging closer to that elusive six star medal!!!

Thank you 😊 The start was ridiculously busy! Seemed a lot busier than other world majors I have done as I think the roads were more narrow.
Congrats Hayden 🏅
Thank you 😊
Well done hayden Thank-you for sharing your experience. Good luck for Boston and New york later in the year
Cheers Buddy appreciate that! Only 5.5 weeks to Boston 🤦 🤣🤣
Great coverage and great run! I’m trying to get all the majors complete!
Thank you! It’s a big challenge but I have enjoyed every single minute so far! Hopefully you will too 👍

Hi Hayden! Congratulations! Hope you don’t me asking but how did you get your Tokyo place?!
Thank you! I was lucky enough to get a ballot place as was my wife as well.

What made the expo so bad?
The Covid restrictions I guess
