So cool! My Mom is from Newfoundland. I recognized so many places and things in this video from my trip there in 1966. We fished for cod, already on the decline at the time. We went for the Capelin. I think the hands only law was in effect. But, my uncle used some kind of net anyway. LOL. On the way home, a guy sold me (a 12 yr. old American kid at the time) a 25 lb. salmon for a buck and was acting like he had ripped me off. I fished the Quidi Vidi pond and hiked to remote ponds like in this video (but not as far as in this video) to load up on 3 lb to 4 lb German browns. Glad to hear the cod fishing is coming back. My Mom was Mildred Martin, daughter of Hugh and Martha (Bidiscome) Martin in St. Johns. Hugh was a fireman and passed in the early 1970s. My Uncle Bill Martin was a taxi driver. I was known as Bee Gee. Love, love, love Newfoundland !!!

SuperNewf1 I'm Canadian, from Montreal and I LOVE Newfoundland! So I love the patriotism for YOUR part of Canada. That being said, your "Newfoundland is not Canada" statement is very typical and unfortunate. There are plenty of things in other parts of Canada that you can't find on the rock or in other parts of the world too. Your part of OUR country is indeed special, but it is not THAT unique. Not to the point that you have to low key disown the rest of the country. There is no need for unnecessary interior rivalries.

Wow, i was so surprised when i saw that he came to where i live, Newfoundland! It's such a wonderful place! I was in the same place he went salmon fishing and i've been to middle cove beach numerous times!
