Millennials are the last generation to appreciate classic rock. Gen-Z with the exception of a few, are not used to listening to music with real instruments.
Considering most "artists" these days have little talent and can barely sing without a machine to keep them in tune, I suppose it's a valid question...unfortunately.
Neil Peart is your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer! Geddy once said that Neil was the only musician he ever knew that would practice an hour for practice.
The beautiful thing about Rush, is they were just as tight live as they were in the studio. I've been to over a dozen Rush concerts and I've only ever seen one misstep in the hours and hours I've watched them. They're amazing. One of the top rock drummers, bass players and guitarists to ever play. Amazing that they found each other and made such spectacular music for 40+ years.
GUYS... as Canadians, you have GOT to appreciate that the intro to "YYZ" is actually the radio beacon Morse Code that is emitted by Toronto's Pearson International airport. The song is an instrumental description of the feeling you get when you're going home... the excitement, the drama. Every pilot no matter where he's from can tune in his radio transponder and catch that intro to "YYZ" and find Toronto if he's in range.
Danny Cary was heavy into rush , there’s a video where him and Neil are playing together in Stuart Copland’s basement studio. Type in and watch the smile on Danny’s face.
It's hard to "evaluate " this band w/o delving into early long pieces like, 2112, Xanadu, LaVilla Strangiato, Natural Science or later work like Digital Man, Red Sector A, Animate, Snakes and Arrows, Headlong Flight, ect, ect 19 Albums 40 years. Nice review all the same.
Our goal is to merely introduce these kids to as many bands as possible & then hopefully take some deep dives once we’ve covered all the bands you can think of…
I've seen Rush several times in my life....in different states and in different countries....I can state, without a doubt, that there are, in fact, MANY females at Rush concerts.
If you watch the live in Rio version you will be amazed by how much the crowd, witch includes alot of girls, party to this song. They actually sing to an instrumental.
You checked out their more radio friendly songs.. you need to check out their deeper cuts ..I'd suggest La Villa Strangiato, 2112, Natural Science , the Necromancer and so many many more. This band has goat bass player and drummer.
I don't know your names but the guy in the middle, I vibe with your metal list. And Rush in my opinion, Rush is so meticulous in structure and precision of all 3 musicians. One thing none mentioned is Getty plays keyboard and base and vocal, and Niel Pert wrote much if not most of the music from what I understand. Please as individuals explore these 3 musicians individually. When it was said Rush was playing Chess while the rest were playing checkers is on point. Thanks for the video.
too much effort being made in trying to be funny. just want to give you honest feedback. talking during a reaction is ok but some of the stuff you guys are talking about has nothing to do with the music.
Be interested to see the guys react to Boston seeing as how interested they are in the production elements of the music. This episode begs the question, especially for Juan. Who’s the better drummer Neil Peart or Danny Carey? Full disclaimer though there’s no wrong answer :) PS Geddy Lee also played the synth parts for Rush
Interesting reaction, cool to see different ways of operating. Thanks much. Jethro Tull. You'll find Jethro Tull very interesting, I think. And a drummer contest? Tull's Barriemore Barlow was in a handful of drummers considered to fill the void left by John Bonham, and Jon Bonham said of him 'the best rock drummer produced by England.' He played on Jimmy Page's solo album 'Outrider', as well as Robert Plant's 'Principle of Moments', not to mention Yngwie Malmsteen's first album 'Rising Force'. Rush and Iron Maiden both loved Tull, Geddy said their album 'Thick as a Brick' is in his top 10 (Steve Harris said his top 8) and that the Thick as a Brick tour was his fave live show ever. Ged wanted to be as creative and entertaining, but similarly not take themselves so seriously. Bruce Dickinson has performed with Ian Anderson and took Tull as an influence in his performing. Tull rules. IMO better than YES or ELP or Genesis, etc. More human, humorous and - for me - relatable. Also, they often had a totally dirty sound, similar to Black Sabbath. Give Tull a shot.
Mmmm chose a pretty small sample of styles, imo. Rush has a very broad pallette, that A LOT of other bands shamelessly copy. Rush`s members have been *inspired* by others.
Same. I’d be ok with one sentence critiques & stuff like that, but long winded paragraphs & attempts to be funny just take up more room to listen to the song. When they shut up & just speak a little, great. When they’re making unnecessary jokes about ‘tight packages’ & what not, it just sounds like radio DJ blather.
😆 you guys are killing me! You're so right though there's only about 50 of us girls that like Rush lol! But there's never a line at the ladies room at the concert! Lol Seriously though Neal's kit is sick it beats Danny Cary's easily! Check out where's my thing here it is you will see a crazy drum solo in the middle
I’m number one Rush fan girl. I’ve loved them for so many years and mourned the loss of Neil Peart for nearly two years now. It’s a shame we will have no new Rush.
Rush, Van Halen, Queen, Metallica, Motely Crue, Stones, Kiss. - I like the Stones but they are just the pop rock artist so have to go below Metallica and above. And I just find myself liking more of Crue than the Stones. They are very close though.
JFC, you guys really need quit talking so much over the reactions. You trying to do a comedy show or music reactions? Cause there's just too much banter that isn't related to music and trying too hard to be funny. So much of these songs get missed due do this. Sometimes less is more.
I will and can never call Tool "Prog". I grew up in the 90's and Tool will always be about "Prison Sex" and "Sober". It's Grunge, pure, simple Grunge. The idea of calling a Grunge band Progressive Rock, is insulting to both genres. And their guitarist just sits there and leans on the fretboard, hoping something audible will come out of it when he's done.... uuugh. On the other hand, this was a really crappy range of Rush styles you picked :/ 19 studio albums spanning 40 years and you crammed 3 songs within the same 6 year period of each other. Include Red Sector A, The Pass, Roll the Bones, Animate, and Far Cry and you'll get a good sampling of each signature sound Rush developed over their career, not just the generic "Classic Rock" phase.
I did give you the dislike...as you wished here is the reason...shut up and listen to the music...no need for talk about canadian hobbits while the music is playing
To be fair, Jay & I have heard Rush, it’s about Juan & Marco experiencing the music for the first time, in the hopes that people who haven’t heard these tunes or band give it a listen. Tom Sawyer: Plays
Them:Silent
Tom Sawyer: EPIC DRUM FILLS
Them: Talking over the fills and they don't realize the greatness of them
Shows the typical pompous attitude from a generation who has no clue what real talent and skill is or requires.
Millennials are the last generation to appreciate classic rock. Gen-Z with the exception of a few, are not used to listening to music with real instruments.
“And they compose their own music?”
…ouch, sign of the times I guess. I’m old.
They call Tools drummer the Octopus. They call Neil Peart the KRAKEN
Tom Sawyer, recorded at Le Studio, about 20km from my house.
RIP Le Studio, we miss you.
Beautiful country around there!
I have a LeStudio tee shirt.
The Bee Gee's sang in falsetto when doing the upper registers. Geddy Lee sang full voice in the upper register until later in his career.
The beautiful thing about Rush, is they were just as tight live as they were in the studio. I've been to over a dozen Rush concerts and I've only ever seen one misstep in the hours and hours I've watched them. They're amazing. PS... "YYZ" is the 3-letter code that is placed on your luggage at Pearson International.
Danny Cary was heavy into rush , there’s a video where him and Neil are playing together in Stuart Copland’s basement studio. Type in and watch the smile on Danny’s face.
Girl here - was always one of three at their concerts.
🤘🏼RUSH🤘🏼 Lifelong Fan!
you guys yapped over all the best parts
Yes. Like my youngest brother and his buddies. Always yapping rarely listening. Annoyed the hell out of me.

Can confirm females went to Rush concerts. I was one of them!
Don't forget Rush had 19 studio albums and their later albums were still great
should have shown the vid where they play in the cabin studio in the woods.
If you watch the live in Rio version you will be amazed by how much the crowd, witch includes alot of girls, party to this song. They actually sing to an instrumental.
How many drums does he have? All of them. Though I love Copeland’s cymbal work.
Greatest drummer to ever walk the face of the earth
You talked through the drum solo on Tom Sawyer, I was like "SHUT UP!" 😅
Kiss peaked when I was about 10 years old. Metallica peaked when i was in college. #NotTheSameEra
Alex's guitar solo in La Villa Strangiato is a top 5 all-time guitar solo. He was a huge influence on guys like Kirk Hammet (Metallica).
Rush songs are put together so perfectly. Just focus on any one instrument through an entire song and enjoy how excellent it is.
You checked out their more radio friendly songs.. you need to check out their deeper cuts ..I'd suggest La Villa Strangiato, 2112, Natural Science , the Necromancer and so many many more.
This band has goat bass player and drummer.
Carey would agree
"I can't find the time signature." It is all of them
Don’t forget Triumph in your Canadian Band list. Great but Rush still rules!!
Imagine if Rik Emmett was the 4th member of Rush, his singing & songwriting, would be my dreamband
Thanks for this. The solo section during Tom Sawyer sounds like 7/8 time.

Neil wrote the lyrics, Alex and Geddy wrote most of the music.
If not for Neil Peart there would be no Carey. Neil was and always be the greatest drummer that ever set down behind the kit. And it's pEARt not Pert.
100%
Like Zepplin, Rush will never be able to replace the God-Given talent of Peart.
@@joelharris3389 amen
who's carey - like Jim Carey the comedian?
Nah listen to navene koperweis
Neil Peart is your favorite drummers' favorite drummer. Guaranteed. Ask Danny Carey who his idol is.
Other drummers use a metronome. Metronomes use Neil Peart.
The guy that doesn't like tool, its ok to be wrong lol
There is no competition for Neil Peart. He was the absolute best ever.
too much effort being made in trying to be funny. just want to give you honest feedback. talking during a reaction is ok but some of the stuff you guys are talking about has nothing to do with the music.

NP all the way, not even close.
The most Canadian rock band is the Tragically Hip. But Sloan are great and hail from my hometown of Halifax, NS.
I love the Hip but maybe No. 4
Neil Peart stands alone.
Interesting reaction, cool to see different ways of operating. Thanks much.

Neil Peart is your favorite drummer's favorite drummer.
Four guys talking is a frustrating format.
Tight sound…. Frank Zappa has entered the convo.
Ultimate Canadian Band = GWAR
j/k
Keeping it to songs under 4 minutes should keep your brains from exploding. Good job guus
the drummer from Tool his favorite drummer is Neil Peart
Mmmm chose a pretty small sample of styles, imo. Rush has a very broad pallette, that A LOT of other bands shamelessly copy. Rush`s members have been *inspired* by others.
Next time you do a cover VS video you should Diary of A Madman & Love Song against Diary of a Love Song.
My wife saw them with me a couple of times. She was thrilled that there were no lines for the ladies room.
Please react to Poppy! Songs from I Disagree, EAT, and Flux!
Nice job and well done…
You should listen to Tom Sawyer.
Wish you'd hold off on the stupid comments and stick with the music reaction.

Rush is older Tool
Tool is newer Rush
excellence and trailblazing
Leonard Cohen is the most influential Canadian music artist... but he's obviously not a BAND
Pert? Really? Come on guys. Peart
Johnny Knoxville should not be hosting this.
7/8

hmmm talking too much for me... but you guys seem fun
You guys talk so much I find it hard to believe you caught any if the really good parts. Seems to me you just want to hear yourselves talk.
Too much nonsense talking.
You speak to much ON the music, listen carefully and react AFTER would be better!!!!!
Also, just to add, your comment should be; “You speak *too* much”, in the comments. Incorrect grammar will kill your resume. That would be better.
