it's also a good idea to passivate with citric acid on new equipment, I also like to run an acid cycle after a caustic cycle to neutralize any residual caustic to preserve the integrity of the SS. cleaners with sodium metasilicate are great at breaking down hot side organics, you can blend them with caustic to save some $. good video.

Thanks, I'm going to do a video on passivation of brewhouse, SS fermenters, parts etc using both Citric Acid and StarSan/StellarSan. Should be out soon.

What's your opinion on the pump?
Seems like it would be a pain to clean it properly since it's underneath. Also, do you think it has enough power?

I haven't had it clog up yet, and I use plenty of hops without a hop spider. I did have the pump on the 3.1.1 block a few times - I just hooked a hose to the recirc. pipe and blew back through it to unblock it. I run the Perc through the pump so that cleans it plenty. It has plenty of power - not quite enough to run my CIP ball so I have a 65W pump for that.

hi, I was wondering what do you do to clean your x2 jacketed fermenter? maybe can you make a video about it? I was thinking into buying one but I can seem to find any videos relating to cleaning

I'll definitely do a video on it, but I use CIP (clean in place). A 4" tri-clover CIP ball and a 65W pump. The pump capacity is key for this CIP ball, as the Brewzilla pump isn't powerful enough. For a smaller fermenter (mine is 144L / 38 gal) you could use the Kegland "Low Volume CIP Spinning Spray Rotor".
