I remember seeing this is first grade, most of the class was wondering how the eating scenes were done, the rest of us were wondering why they wouldn’t just make a normal burger, good times
I've been looking for this video (at random times) over the past year. I remember watching this in school and was just so amazed at the different techniques they use, i.e. using glue instead of milk when showing a bowl of cereal on it's own (whilst under hot lights). Gotta love the value of RUclips!
One of the requirements is to use the actual food you'd get in the store for the images. That's why she cuts a piece out of the burger and spreads it open instead of just making a bigger burger.
At my local burger place that just takes photos of the burgers after they are made, and one time me and some friends where there when they where shooting new menu pics, and before we had ordered anything the cooks just came over to us with plate after plate with burgers, and they where free. Best day ever
We actually did something like this in high school cooking class. Had to make a burger look like the ads, so we used things like toothpicks and plastic sheets to separate layers, and sprayed the bun with hairspray to make it shiny. Luckily we didn't have to glue on sesame seeds.
I read an article that says that only the food being advertised has to be real, meaning that the milk in most pictures of cereal is really something stiff that the pieces are stuck into
A roasted chicken or turkey used in advertising is only roasted for a short time -- less than half an hour for a turkey -- and then painted brown with soy sauce. Ice cubes in soft drink ads are clear acrylic. The item actually being advertised has to be real, but the extraneous items can be fake -- so in an ad showing cake and ice-cream, if the ad is for the CAKE, the ice-cream can be mashed potatoes which won't melt under the lights. In cereal ads, the "milk" is half milk, half Elmer's Glue.
English/spanish When I was in Japan, a Big Mac was exactly like in pictures. Just amazing! And much cheaper than in some countries in Europe. There was an offert: 1.20€/big Mac (just the sandwich). Cuando estuve en Japón, un Big Mac era exactamente como el de la foto. ¡Sorprendente! Y además mucho más barato. Había una oferta: 1,2€ el Big Mac (sin menú).
No I'm not, but 15 years ago I was. I've worked at many restaurants, including management positions at large corporate chains. So yes, it stands to reason that I would have some knowledge of how they work.
so what if when you go to McD, etc there is nothing that won't give you stomach upset and/or dizzyness and/or alergic reaction on random (meaning - the recipe is random) idigrient?
You can tell she is from the beginning of the 1990's (almost late 80's) not because of her hair or makeup but because she would be sued hardcore by the titanic junk-food corporations for doing something like this today. (along with the TV producers)
Very Informative. How to "glamour shot" food. When is person a hungry is when they are financially most vulnerable. This seems like a "bait n switch" technique. The one on the sign is not the same as the one in the store. Do like I do when they hand you a burger that looks gross, just ask for your money back. No remakes, no asskissing management, just get your cash and go try the next one maybe hes having a better day.
i had a friend who did a commercial for mcdonalds where he had to bite into one of these painted burgers, and spat it out each time after they were done shooting.
Some times certain commercials would show the burger as it would look like on the grill over an open flame or just before the lettuce and tomato are added to show how juicy and full it is. It's a real shame that actually decent burgers are hard to find. In-n-Outs and 5 Guys are probably the one ones worth going out for a burger these days.
I do My own Burgers, and They Loook AWSOME! and when I order a burger from Apple Bee's or Chili's they look GREAT. I don't believe this, even the bun is fake? heh!
Maybe it was meant to be a parody? Or maybe back in the old days companies hadn't gotten so phenomenally good at manipulating people to the point of public outrage that this would have only elicited a chuckle.
@HellooKittee Probably 'cus she's talking about it as if it's an actor, since it's being "dressed up" to be in a commercial. At least that's what I assumed.
Yes it can be compared. If you were to scale the population of the USA to the scale of Nauru and if Nauru still had a higher % of obese people with the same amount of population after the scale down then Nauru would still have a higher %. For example if you had 20 people in one area and 6 were obese but in another area there were only 10 people but 4 were obese, that would mean that the area with 10 people would still have a higher % even with the fewer amount of people(due to proportions).
most of the food that are being photographed for commercial use (if not all) are fake or at least inedible and are usually sprayed on with stuff to make it look "shiny" or something. So if you would get the food that they are shooting for a commercial you couldn't eat it because you would get poisoned or at least taste really bad.
I remember seeing this is first grade, most of the class was wondering how the eating scenes were done, the rest of us were wondering why they wouldn’t just make a normal burger, good times
I wanna see the behind the scenes of the biting into a perfect burger
NewKingBrandon Good Idea!!
Fast Food Restaurant's - "Hey everyone! Come check out how we lie to you on a daily basis."

what about when they make the ads of someone biting into the burger and it still looks perfect?
But i thought photoshop is not videshop ?! :(
***** you can airbrush a video. How do you not know that?
Are they biting into these basically-raw burgers then?

"I'm a make-up artist for food" This line tells the whole story.
My teacher showed me this when I was in 3rd grade. From then on I never found burger ads to be delicious.
One of the requirements is to use the actual food you'd get in the store for the images. That's why she cuts a piece out of the burger and spreads it open instead of just making a bigger burger.
It must have changed since 13 years ago because they _definitely_ don’t use actual food
imagine how they make Victoria secret advertisement.
At my local burger place that just takes photos of the burgers after they are made, and one time me and some friends where there when they where shooting new menu pics, and before we had ordered anything the cooks just came over to us with plate after plate with burgers, and they where free. So if you buy a burger you could say 'hey! Where are the toothpicks? My colouring! My polystyrene! My cardboard!' xD
I wondered how they make food look so good!! :P Thats how...LOL a makeup artist for food!
does anyone know the song playing when she pins everything in place? I need it so bad for a project!
In case that project still isn't finished, or if anyone else is wondering (like I was), it's "Fun on Deck" by Richard Howgill.
We actually did something like this in high school cooking class. Had to make a burger look like the ads, so we used things like toothpicks and plastic sheets to separate layers, and sprayed the bun with hairspray to make it shiny. Luckily we didn't have to glue on sesame seeds.

Gordon Ramsay's response: "It's RAAAAAW!!"
I don't think I'll ever ask for a burger like the one in the ads ever again...
That burger looks beautiful!
THAT IS ONE TASTY BURGER
Yeah, when u get past the pins and the fact that its still raw, its a pretty good burger.

lol my teacher showed this to us...the lies... and omfg... the seed part was epic!
My favourite teacher Ms.Khan showed me this in 2014, still watch it
Reminds me of the Mitch Hedberg joke where he says "There has got to be some sesame seed glue out there!"

And yet it succeeds in making me hungry
666Schnieder How true!!
Paint, push pins, styrofoam, glue... Ehhhhh! I feel violated. Thanks McNasty!
They played this video in school every day and it was funny every time
I was very curious about this, thanks for the vid.
Am I the only one who finds it disturbing that she refers to the burger as "he"?
Soylent Green is people!!!
Nice reference there, mate.

Thanks :)

hhahahhaah i watched this in grade 2! Wow what a trip down memory lane!
So when you find a toothpick in your burger, you know what's gone wrong... XD
No I'm not, but 15 years ago I was.
I've worked at many restaurants, including management positions at large corporate chains. So yes, it stands to reason that I would have some knowledge of how they work.
There has GOT to be some sesame seed glue out there!!!
We now know the answer Mitch.
They showed this to us in gradeschool. lol Wow this was so long ago!
so what if when you go to McD, etc there is nothing that won't give you stomach upset and/or dizzyness and/or alergic reaction on random (meaning - the recipe is random) idigrient?
reminds me of Michael Douglas in Falling Down. "This is a whammy burger??"
This is why I have trust issues
omg this is crazy thank you sooo much for this
What about those delicious burgers that are eaten like in the Carls Jr. Commercials?! Or Hardys
I knew there was some kind of a trick to those comercials.
Oh! so, this is the reason i always find pins in my bigmac
@nansir
How would we get stuff that we can't make/have access to? people from around the world are just going to give it to us for free?
Imagine not realising how that burger was made and just taking a massive bite out of it. O.o
Haha. The music is sooo damn awesome!!
You can tell she is from the beginning of the 1990's (almost late 80's) not because of her hair or makeup but because she would be sued hardcore by the titanic junk-food corporations for doing something like this today. (along with the TV producers)
No she wouldn't. She is telling the truth. You can only be sued for fraud. Plus Penn and Teller have a whole show where they expose people.
***** You underestimate the power of McDonalds.
KILROYguy They wouldn't sue her, they would just blacklist her from their connections entirely because she's exposing their marketing.
***** I have to admit, this bait has been one of the worse I've seen in months.

Looks gorgeous...oh, sorry, was there a burger there?
It makes me chuckle with sarcasm how I STILL didn't think it was tasty or juicy, even in the advertisement.
i will never see these damb burger commercials the same anymore
i had a friend who did a commercial for mcdonalds where he had to bite into one of these painted burgers, and spat it out each time after they were done shooting.

because sometimes they show the top of the burger before they show it in the bun...
I just saw this at school today in health class and was shocked to see what they do to food.
why was this video so hard to find!!
Awesome It Looks So Yummy(:
I always thought about this video but I thought it was a dream.
I do My own Burgers, and They Loook AWSOME! and when I order a burger from Apple Bee's or Chili's they look GREAT.

ill never look at another mcdonald commercial the same way AGAIN!
I can't believe she act's like she's happy because she's doing a good job at helping the companies lie.
Maybe it was meant to be a parody? Or maybe back in the old days companies hadn't gotten so phenomenally good at manipulating people to the point of public outrage that this would have only elicited a chuckle.
Or maybe she just takes pride in her work. It's lying as much as actors having makeup and wardrobe is lying.
THAT'S SCANDALOUS !!
next thing you tell me is that the people in commercials are payed actors?
@HellooKittee Probably 'cus she's talking about it as if it's an actor, since it's being "dressed up" to be in a commercial. At least that's what I assumed.
I watched this vid in year 4 and I came to find it again and I'm in year 8
My teacher showed my class this for writing, and we were going to ad something
.... i would just laugh if some guy came along after they finished shooting an just took a massive bite out of it haha
Do I have to go to college for this 💁🏽
I like this.
would you say that these adverts are actually bad practice then?
even the burgers must have make-up on tv :) hi hi hi
this is SOOO new 2 everybody?
im 20 and i saw this video at school when i was 6....hahah
I'm glad we don't eat glue, cardboard or paper in my burgers... Or do I!
This explains a lot .............
I watched this at school today lol
@mattman624 except they've been doing this for about 50 years...way before HD.
Very Interesting.

hehehehe putz, sempre pensei que fosse de cera ou algum outro material assim, como nos outros alimentos que vemos nas embalagens :x
Great comment! And that includes the "news".
most of the food that are being photographed for commercial use (if not all) are fake or at least inedible and are usually sprayed on with stuff to make it look "shiny" or something. So if you would get the food that they are shooting for a commercial you couldn't eat it because you would get poisoned or at least taste really bad.
awesome!
omg :D i really like this video :D i ve seen it in school xD xD xD lol
is berry cool
OMFG this is the best wife i've ever seen
EPIC!
how do they bite it in the commercials ??
يعرف شلون يعضونها بالدعايات ؟؟
I have to say that one thing...
I am hungry!!!
i’m lovin’ it
Notice how long the process is.
You have the right to get an exact copy of the picture when we buy it, if it's not the same, it's a scam.
People eat them in in ads does that make them eat raw meat
Yum, now take a bite!
Today I learned Angostura Bitters and liquid smoke are effective food dyes.
@masterbrice So that means there's ALWAYS danger?
She's very cute!!!
hey!Mcdonalds does really make hamburgers out of cardboard! LOL
still tastes nice anyway
