  • The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions as they say! but sometimes... even the god emperors most holy inquisition can be guilty of intending a bit to much... and resurrecting Horus Lupercal in order to in turn resurrect the emperor! That's quite the fever dream even by inquisitor standards! But such is the aim of The Horusian

I remember reading one of the Black Legion books where a group of Abaddon’s crew found Moriana for the first time. They had no idea what had been going on outside the Eye of Terror at this point in time, and when she let slip that the modern day Imperium worshipped the Emperor as a god, they were like ‘… da fuck?’ One of them even started laughing so uncontrollably that I think he wept blood or something, and jokingly proclaimed ‘The bastard Word Bearers won!’ The irony of the Word Bearers turning the other traitor legions against the Emperor because he wouldn’t let them worship him as a god, only for him to become a god after they had renounced him, obviously wasn’t lost on this guy.

I just love this setting. So many good intentions and perfectly rational logic mixed with desperation leading not just down the road to damnation but then coming back completely crazed with hell itself fallowing behind you. No "It is just mean for the sake of it" like most such settings. Even an awful idea like the Horusians or everything the Dark Eldar do has a perfectly reasonable line of logic behind it. The fist steps at least. Very few settings would bother to give reason to the actions of The Imperium or the Necrons. And it makes the Inquisition so fascinating. Almost any faction no matter how crazy has a perfectly rational trail of logic from where they start to the fiery madness they all seem to end up with.

I actually like the idea of Horus reappearing in the setting... but only as an appirition before Abaddon appears before the golden throne.
The emperor didn't destroy him so much as 'recalled him' and horus's spirit has lingered at his father's side all these years, watching his father wither and die day by day for thousands of years. He would try in vain to get Abaddon to abandon his quest, to not repeat his mistakes. That the gods are indeed using him.
Abbadon would ignore this of course, but I feel it'd be a nice setup before the final act in the setting.

I love how Arch's headcannon of Horus's defeat against Abbadon can only be the sheer dumb luck caused by the side effect of cloning.

The real problem is the massive warprift he is holding shut by sitting on the golden throne.
If he died or was removed from it terra is fucked so he wont go even if you had a perfect vessel for him.

This makes more sense that at first glance. We know that the Emperor destroyed Horus' very soul, so if they could somehow retrief and revive the actual corpse, it would already be an empty shell, ready to receive the Emperor's soul.
Sure it is a body that's bound to be heavily corrupted by Chaos, but this is the Emperor we are talking about here, so he should be able to cleanse that easily enough.
But if they abondoned getting Horus' body or a close... wouldn't the next-best thing be a primarch? With them crawling out of the woodwork again, they even have some choice now. And who knows, maybe one of them might even be willing to cooperate and sacrifice their own soul, for bringing Big E back.

And then he discover with horror all the cataclysmic consequences of his actions. He would be hunted down by the emperium. With why not a redemption arc.

Now weather there would be a shadow war between multiple factions that would spill into out rite crusades, civil wars, rebellion, revolution, a black crusade, false primark allegations, revival of book series (who wrote this?) , ect. Is way beyond my paygrade.

The retconning of decades of established lore just so GW can bilk their fanbase out of a few more dollars is just another, in a long list of reasons, why GW deserves to go bankrupt and lose control of the Warhammer franchise to someone who will regard it as something worth preserving and updating without destroying its core.
Of course, as there are no merciful deities in either this universe or the Warhammer one, that particular miracle will never happen.

    • @thechazz3230

Because The Emperor most likely can't be Cloned. His body has been decaying for 10k years and he's more Soul Stuff than being anymore. Hell his skeleton has most likely completely petrified as well. That's not to mention how The Emperor is likely not fully human(if human at all and not just an old one) he's not something you can just redo or make more of. He's something truly unique in the universe.
But The Primarchs have been Cloned before by Fabius Bile.

  • @christiancowles9436
    @christiancowles9436 7 месяцев назад +1

Too bad the Hosusians / Thorians didn't ask the primarchs or Grey Knights about this project. Some primarchs would have probably tried to help, like looks like Dorn and Valdor who are trying to revive the Emporer. And the Gray Knights put the most powerful shard of Magnus's soul into a space marine. Between getting a good vessel from a primarch clone and knowing how to do a good soul transfer from the Grey Knights, they would have been set. I guess coordination was never a strength of Imperial agents.
