  • Discover an ingenious solution that can prevent catastrophic incidents at airports and save countless lives. Picture a scenario where a commercial jet overshoots the runway-a terrifying prospect. But there's a secret weapon, and it's as unassuming as a pebble. It's called the Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS), a bed of high-energy-absorbing material installed at the end of runways.
EMAS is made of lightweight pebbles that might look like ordinary rocks but are engineered to crush under the weight of an aircraft. These pebbles, crafted from expanded polystyrene or polypropylene, work together to absorb the aircraft's energy, bringing it to a halt even at maximum speed.
With over 100 EMAS systems already installed in the United States, there have been successful cases of aircraft overruns being safely halted, preventing disasters and injuries. In this video, we explore how EMAS is installed, its easy maintenance, and the potential to save lives by expanding this incredible technology to more airports around the world. Don't miss this fascinating insight into a life-saving innovation!

The pictures seem rather random. Quite distracting to hear the moderator talk of an airplane model and then being shown a different model on screen.

1:59 How about using PROPER photos to match the narration; talking about a 737 and showing NOT a 737, and at the opening talking about jet liners and showing a Cessna???
