Your videos are awesome! This was no exception. I've watched a bunch of them! I've been surfing for 40 years (even in Australia) and am about to give kiting a go on my next vacation! I saw kiting close up on my last vacation in Cabarete DR. Keep up the great work and thanks for the great videos "mate"!
Best video for wave riding + kite. Thank you so much. Makes so much sense with the drawings and explanation. And the video (fast) puts it all together.
Thank you for the information and videos. I teach in SW Florida its always good to find videos i can send my trainees to watch and learn different methods, i think it makes them better kiters in the end.
Hey illusive, awesome! That's exactly what are are hoping to provide on our channel. Another free resource to help kiters progress :) thanks for the comment!
Thanks Regornel, glad it helped! Hopefully we will get some better waves soon and I will make some more detailed intermediate/advanced tutorials too :)
Thanks Andriy! We appreciate the support! We are happy to simply keep sharing what we know in Kitesurfing :) Of course, we appreciate you sharing the word with anyone you know too!
Thanks for sahring your knowledge. I've been riding waves for a couple of years so not a beginner by any measures, still I enjoyed thoroughly your great explanations. My regular kite spot has exact same conditions of your homespot and I have been doing quite well riding the rights on my toeside exactly as you do in the video, here the wind varies the angle a bit and sometimes is really hard to hit the lip but plenty of carving up and down and lots of fun nevertheless. While I feel very comfy riding thoe rights upwind, I am still struggling to ride the lefts on my backside in the same conditions as the kite control a lot harder, I don't have a problem to go downwind a lot as Im experienced and sometimes I cross the beach upwind and come back so I give it a try on the lefts but I need to improve a lot so a video on how you surf the lefts on your home spot will be handy! I understand some people loop the kite in those conditions but I need to understand how its done, and practice. Cheers from Brazil, mate!
Hey Roberto, Nice! yeah mate riding backhand, cross onshore is the hardest (and my least favorite) direction of all. So it does take some time to get that. the key is to stay right in the pocket of the wave and basically surf. then use small up and down movements with the kite while it floats back in the wind. if you are going top to bottom on the wave doing turns then the kite will keep flying backward and you can get some pretty good turns done. that said, as soon as you go out in front of the wave etc, then the kite loses its line tension and you have to do a big gybe to reset. thats also when people will loop. to reposition the kite into the power source when its flown to far forward in the wind window. It is also easier to ride that direction on your forehand. anways have fun out there :)
@@FlukesKitesurfing Thanks a million for replying, will read a few times and try to connect those lefts using your tips. definitely having fun each time. They say that each day above ground is a good day and I agree, but lets be honest that each day above the water is a GREAT DAY! Cheers mate!
When the waves get a bit bigger in these conditions, I often find myself speeding down the wave, generating too much apparent wind and power, and being pulled off the sweet spot of the wave by the kite...
Hey strekke, Yeah, absolutely, with upwind wave riding, the faster you go the harder it is to stay in the pocket of the wave (go up wind). If it's a little bigger sometimes it helps to get slightly more onshore conditions, and i also found a narrower board helped me find a rail when the kite tries to pull straight. All of that said, this is really just a fun way to get into waves, looking for some small (head high or less) waves and wanting to get a feel for riding a wave while having heaps of fun at the same time :) (its also prefect for doing airs on the right day which is why I like it the most)
