Yeah i've always been thinking that actually. She was that sort of wealthy, kinda eccentric, no fucks given, type of character who occupies most of her time doing crazy wild shit for sport, for the thrill of it. Sometimes there were bigger narrative implications, sometimes not, at the end of the day it was all cool. Obviously she doesn't work for an organization unlike 007, but yeah it's the exact same archetype of character. Or like Revy from Black Lagoon (but less psycho). So trashy how they desecrated this entire character.
The only good thing about those movies was young Angelina Jolie. That's it - Angelina was hot and we were 13 at the time so that was enough for us. Objectively those movies were not good.

Ruins are like the wild west: full of danger, adventure, and lawlessness. That is what the original movies really got right about Lara: she's a daredevil.

I remember being pretty excited for the first Tomb Raider reboot game. I genuinely thought we were going to see the journey of Lara Croft becoming the sexy murderhobo we know from the older games. At the end of the game she even gets the akimbo pistols that are her trademark weapons. So I fully expected the second game to go further in that direction. Instead they brought her character development to a complete halt and made her completely uninteresting. I don't even know why I bought the third game. Maybe I'm just an idiot?

A lot of animation is just outsourced to tiny studios overseas. Either complete sequences or just fill ins between key frames is done by borderline paid nothing randos in foreign countries. Digital has nothing to do with the problem
Tomb Raider was “ruined” since TR Legend. While that was a fun game, as was Underworld, but, even someone like me who isn’t a fan of the classic Tomb Raider, even I felt something off about Legend and Underworld. And then the 2013 reboot, whole fun in its own right, clearly not Tomb Raider, and the sequels proved it, even though they were still really solid games. Tomb Raider hasn’t been the same since Angel Of Darkness. Thank god we got the remastered classics now.
I didn't bother with the remasters because it's so assy business to put the warning at the start and demand munty. I'll stick to the PS1 originals. My reboot Definitive Edition crashed yonks ago and didn't ever finish it. Still bitter because the gameplay was good.

Yeah Mel. I'd be okay if they wanted to do an off spin TR show and give us something different. But it has to be built with the backstory the original had in mind. But I also think they should be honest and say they want to do something different. But even that, I'm not sure I can trust Crystal Dynamics or anyone on. Like they should either do their own IP with their own story or just leave the originals alone. Like if they're not going to do it right the first time, they shouldn't do it at all.
That is the exact quote of the director of the game about a second season of this show: _"We put our hearts and soul on it and I have no expectation beyond that."_ I already accepted that the Lara that I liked will never come back. The quiet scenarios, puzzles,wild animals and the classic Lara are long gone.
Crystal Dynamics should just make a new IP and call it Truth Seeker and see how it sales compare to Tomb Raider. I was happy when Crystal Dynamics was handed Tomb Raider as they were the studio that developed Soul Reaver which I was a big fan of and I am sure it was the inspiration for Tomb Raider The Last Revelation becoming more 'seamless' between levels. But these days my faith in Crystal has been steadily declining.
Actually, she has had several scenes in the old original games where she was quite empathic. She's also a badass and can be ruthless, but she's very sweet where it counts. And not sure why this is glossed over every time. Everything else I do agree with.

EXACTLY RIGHT. For ex: I just bought a Gaming Laptop and a copy of Skyrim Anniversary Edition that I mean to mod the ever living daylights out of, which will give me several thousand hours worth of assets and content/experiences. I'll be set for several years and the great thing about Skyrim is that you can mod to a modern standard. It's amazing that a 14-year old game still has the amount of life in it that it does

A lot of animation is just outsourced to tiny studios overseas. Either complete sequences or just fill ins between key frames is done by borderline paid nothing randos in foreign countries. Digital has nothing to do with the problem
Tomb Raider was “ruined” since TR Legend. While that was a fun game, as was Underworld, but, even someone like me who isn’t a fan of the classic Tomb Raider, even I felt something off about Legend and Underworld.
And then the 2013 reboot, whole fun in its own right, clearly not Tomb Raider, and the sequels proved it, even though they were still really solid games.
Tomb Raider hasn’t been the same since Angel Of Darkness. Thank god we got the remastered classics now.

I didn't bother with the remasters because it's so assy business to put the warning at the start and demand munty. I'll stick to the PS1 originals. My reboot Definitive Edition crashed yonks ago and didn't ever finish it. Still bitter because the gameplay was good.

You can't return *ancient* artifacts back to their culture because their culture died centuries ago. She's likely giving artifacts to the conquerors that geocoded the original artifacts creators.

Yeah Mel. I'd be okay if they wanted to do an off spin TR show and give us something different. But it has to be built with the backstory the original had in mind. But I also think they should be honest and say they want to do something different. But even that, I'm not sure I can trust Crystal Dynamics or anyone on. Like they should either do their own IP with their own story or just leave the originals alone. Like if they're not going to do it right the first time, they shouldn't do it at all.

I already accepted that the Lara that I liked will never come back. The quiet scenarios, puzzles,wild animals and the classic Lara are long gone.
Crystal Dynamics should just make a new IP and call it Truth Seeker and see how it sales compare to Tomb Raider. I was happy when Crystal Dynamics was handed Tomb Raider as they were the studio that developed Soul Reaver which I was a big fan of and I am sure it was the inspiration for Tomb Raider The Last Revelation becoming more 'seamless' between levels. But these days my faith in Crystal has been steadily declining.
We all know, Mel will show her fury when her favorite franchise is being screwed over. 😅

Actually, she has had several scenes in the old original games where she was quite empathic. She's also a badass and can be ruthless, but she's very sweet where it counts. And not sure why this is glossed over every time. Everything else I do agree with.
Name those scenes, they are very few and far between. Her priorities were always playing for sport, not to be some hero.

I’m using a friends youtube channel to spread this message, im under a NDA and do not want to lose my job spreading whats actually happening with the new Tomb Raider game, the new game will unfortunately fully go woke, they are transforming the classic Lara to a Lesbian Tomb Protector and not someone who raids them, Lara will not raid Tombs anymore due to its enforcing “stealing and damaging culture”, this has been unfortunately confirmed recently after being debated by the directors for the past few months. Its sad to see and im honestly speaking out what’s happening only because of I used to love Tomb Raider but unfortunately its been captured by the woke agenda, I might delete this comment in the future due to me just taking extra steps of me not losing my job and being unemployed
