The Tank Controls actually made the game more playable. I tried with the 'Modern' Controls but the whole game was built on a grid, and for the specific moves you can do with the Tank Controls and it was literally the only way to play the game! I got the trilogy on your recommendation back when it released and loved it so Can't wait for this!!!
@@howaboutsomesoyfood Tank controls are fantastic. Once you get the hang of them you can make precise movements and jump, something that with the modern controls you can't. Once you master the tank controls you'll never die or fall due to a bad jump or movement.

Tank all the way. The original TR games are built on a grid system. That is why they work so well when compared to modern when trying to traverse obstacles within the game.

Aspyer owns TR. So I assume they can assign it to a whole new team. Or shape up crystal dynamics to the OG vision but that's already unlikely. Letting go of an entire team is a bit overkill but might be necessary to save the franchise.

I'm really looking forward to the 4-6 remasters. I was never a big fan of the Tomb Raider series, but I had a lot of fun with the 1-3 remasters and found myself hoping for more. She definitely displays more "adventurer" and less "drama queen" in these.

I'm holding out for a Tomb Raider Anniversary/Legend/Underworld remaster. Anniversary is one of my favorite games, and has an absolute banger soundtrack. It's still one of my most frequently listened-to playlists. Legend wasn't great but had a good story, and Underworld was a great game as well.
Best insight so far! I didn’t care for TR3 much back in the day but the remaster was excellent! I felt the same about TLR and Chronicles (didn’t care much for original releases) so hopefully the remasters for these make me feel the same! I am one of the few that platinum trophied 1-3 and will do the same here. Angel of Darkness? Only played for like an hour or 2 so hopefully Aspyr makes it worth it. They surely didn’t disappoint with initial 3. 👍🏼

There's jokes in the Donkey Kong Community of a "realistic" looking redesign of Donkey Kong, and it's a joke because nobody genuinely wants to see DK look like an actual gorilla. The same logic applies to Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider fandom, there's something so much more timeless and endearing about a more stylized almost exagerrated cartoon version of Lara Croft over a photorealistic looking woman who calls herself Lara Croft.
The issue with the new Lara Croft isn't her looks (she looks pretty enough) it's how she's characterized. I don't think classic Lara fans ever really cared about Lara being a 'deep character', they liked her because she was fun and a badass. She's a character that works better with less depth and realism. The game industry's slobbering obsessions over realistic graphics has been a disservice to characters like Lara who work best with a more cartoonish presentation.

The Last Revelation was the pinnacle of PS1 era Tomb Raider and I'm so excited to get it remastered the same way. Chronicles was a kinda 'deleted scenes' game where unused ideas got resurrected but I can't wait to play that too. Angel of Darkness was an unholy dumpster fire 😂. I'd have taken a 4&5 remaster and paid full price but okay, let's run with this. Will they finally make AoD a playable game? They can mess with it as much as they like, they can't make it any worse 😂🤣
Since the trilogy are currently on sale I may pick them up and play them over the weekend. I'll admit that the series has always appealed to me, but I'm really not into puzzle games. I tend to prefer games I can turn my brain off and listen to RUclips, but we'll see. Super happy for all of the Laura Croft fans however. Hopefully these sell really well and more games continue being remastered, and hopefully we get a new game with the older art/graphics styles as well.

What do you mean SE? Square Enix? They didn't own the IP during the legend era, that was still Eidos. Square bought Crystal Dynamics from Eidos to make the reboot trilogy (2013 - 2018) and then sold Crystal Dynamics to Embracer in about 2022 because Square liquidated their American assets. The IP has been following Crystal Dynamics around since Eidos took Core Design off of it due to AOD's failure.
Have to give them props. Remastering AoD is both, the right thing to do, and, a bold undertaking. I hope they put in some serious effort, so there can finally be a proper, fully-functional, Angel of Darkness. 🍻

TR4 Lara looks fantastic and I look forward to playing it. I don’t care for Chronicles or AOD tbh. Those games are not comparable to TR1-TR4 in terms of quality or content.
As soon as I saw "Tomb Raider 4-6" in the PSN store pre order, I did pre order it. I never played "Angel of Darkness" I did play a little bit of "Chronicles" and when I played "Tomb Raider 4" back in the day I just got stuck and used a cheat to skip every level, which was very lame but I mean I was 14 at that time. So now I am super excited to play it for real. That is indeed good news for real gamers :)
Everyone just buy the 2 classic collections. Don't watch that abomination of a show and don't buy the new modern Tomb Raider bs that they're going to release soon.

I don't think classic Lara fans ever really cared about Lara being a 'deep character', they liked her because she was fun and a badass. She's a character that works better with less depth and realism. The game industry's slobbering obsessions over realistic graphics has been a disservice to characters like Lara who work best with a more cartoonish presentation.
@@mirsolis4992 the original Lara was a deep character, just not in the movies. "pretty enough" is a problem because Lara is a character who looks AMAZING, that's just part of her whole concept
If we could just get the Prince of Persia trilogy remastered, that would be awesome.
This was one of the good titles when Ubi-soft released good content mid 2000, & it was great, as well as Far-Cry, & Ghost Recon. My my look how far they have fallen since those days.
Let's hope they will completely overhaul the gameplay mechanics of the 6th game.

After the amount of censoring that went into the Dead Rising remake, I caution everyone to have a healthy amount of skepticism, especially because we know how much modern studios hate premodern Laura Croft. I won’t be shocked if her “assets” get reduced

@@mirsolis4992actually they did. There was a locker room poster of Laura that got removed, as well as several other pin ups that got censored. There was also a pin up girl on Pierre’s jacket that got censored. Nice try.

Yeah people tend to not realize graphics and art styles aren't the same thing just because you like more realistic art styles doesn't mean the cartoon art style has bad graphics it's just an art style that you don't like.

MelMac thank you SO MUCH for dropping this news! 😁 The original remasters were absolutely amazing. The Last Revelation was the pinnacle of PS1 era Tomb Raider and I'm so excited to get it remastered the same way. Chronicles was a kinda 'deleted scenes' game where unused ideas got resurrected but I can't wait to play that too. Angel of Darkness was an unholy dumpster fire 😂. I'd have taken a 4&5 remaster and paid full price but okay, let's run with this. Will they finally make AoD a playable game? They can mess with it as much as they like, they can't make it any worse 😂🤣

Since the trilogy are currently on sale I may pick them up and play them over the weekend. I'll admit that the series has always appealed to me, but I'm really not into puzzle games. I tend to prefer games I can turn my brain off and listen to RUclips, but we'll see. Super happy for all of the Laura Croft fans however. Hopefully these sell really well and more games continue being remastered, and hopefully we get a new game with the older art/graphics styles as well.

Side note...what's the deal with SE and Tomb Raider? I thought they bought the IP back when Legend released? So the Embracer people bought it out from SE? I'm kinda lost on this. If that's true, that really does explain why we have the reboot mess and all the woke bs they shoehorned into Lara Croft. Also if that's the case, then heck yeah Embracer needs to drop SE and all the woke stuff and like you said go back and do a new game with the style in the Classic games.

What do you mean SE? Square Enix? They didn't own the IP during the legend era, that was still Eidos. Square bought Crystal Dynamics from Eidos to make the reboot trilogy (2013 - 2018) and then sold Crystal Dynamics to Embracer in about 2022 because Square liquidated their American assets. The IP has been following Crystal Dynamics around since Eidos took Core Design off of it due to AOD's failure.
Have to give them props. Remastering AoD is both, the right thing to do, and, a bold undertaking.
I hope they put in some serious effort, so there can finally be a proper, fully-functional, Angel of Darkness. 🍻

As a young girl in the 2000s i spent hours doing hand stands just to look at her long skinny legs because i wanted to look like that when i got older 😂...thankfully i did get those legs and it was all thanks to LARA!!! No i do not want the new lara , she doesnt inspire anything in me...i love this version!

I totally agree that legend series isn't the purest tomb raider formula but with that series being the first I ever bought for myself as a kid.... I still REALLY hope they get remastered
They did get remastered on ps3. I hope they rerelease them on ps5.

TR4 Lara looks fantastic and I look forward to playing it. I don’t care for Chronicles or AOD tbh. Those games are not comparable to TR1-TR4 in terms of quality or content.
As soon as I saw "Tomb Raider 4-6" in the PSN store pre order, I did pre order it. I never played "Angel of Darkness" I did play a little bit of "Chronicles" and when I played "Tomb Raider 4" back in the day I just got stuck and used a cheat to skip every level, which was very lame but I mean I was 14 at that time. So now I am super excited to play it for real. That is indeed good news for real gamers :)
Everyone just buy the 2 classic collections. Don't watch that abomination of a show and don't buy the new modern Tomb Raider bs that they're going to release soon.
