  • The 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV GT Plug-in Hybrid is one step from the top of the new CX-90 lineup. Instead of the top-spec 3.3L Inline 6 turbo under the hood, it's powered by a 2.5L Inline 4 working alongside an electric motor capable of traveling up to 42 kms (26 miles) without burning any fuel. As tested this 2024 CX-90 PHEV GT is $66,695 CAD (~$59,420 USD.) Enjoy the review!

    Just to clarify, the charge function on the PHEV always asks the percentage you want the battery to be. If the car at that moment has that percentage or higher it will work like the save battery function. The additional fuel consumption comes only if you battery is lower than you want it to be and the ice has to work harder to increase the battery level. If you want it to work as save battery for later like other PHEV's just push the charge knob when you battery is above your target level and there is no fuel penalty.

    If you can’t charge this daily there is no point in getting it. Frankly, a level 2 charger makes weekend errands in few runs through the day use little to in gas. I hate the 3 passenger seating in the third row and wish the second row could go from third seat to big armrest to removed kinda like the Honda Pilot (I think). Additionally, it irks me that the tail lights only fully light with the I6 turbo s models.

    400 pounds? That’s like having an American passenger.

    Best car I’ve ever owned. Not perfect, but damn close.

    If you want the PHEV to only push the charge button and select 100%.

    Its nice and glad Mazda did this but after learning it has 3 seperate timing chains in the rear of the engine i rather lease one.

      I thought the same, but then I thought back to how many timing chains I’ve changed on Japanese made vehicles as opposed to timing belts………the answer is “zero”. YMMV

    where the hell did you get the "GT"?

    • @RoadsUntraveled
      @RoadsUntraveled  2 месяца назад +1

      The GT is the mid-range trim for the PHEV here in Canada, as explained in the video. I'm assuming you're in the USA where the trims are named differently.

      @@RoadsUntraveled uoooo do you know if the PHEV is 4 Cyl Turbocharged? or Naturally Aspirated?

      @@RoadsUntraveled The GT as far as I can see on Mazda Canada's website is the only fully loaded trim you can get on the PHEV. The MHEV gets the "Signature" above the GT which adds the rear heating, the 12' screen, other interior colors/trims and the fancy center console for the 2nd row

      @axx8326 Месяц назад +1

      @@mrld3005 the PHEV comes only in 2.5 naturally aspirated. Turbos are only in the inline 6 the top of the line trim, believe in the US is called Turbo S whil in Canada is the Signature

    Unfortunately Mazda will need to sort out the PHEV system's issues first. Looks promising on the paper and especially in warm weather however there are plenty of owners pretty frustrated with the way it operates. and in frigid climates the EV portion is rather useless. It does not have a heat pump which will leave it exposed to the low temperatures.Has all sorts of malfunctions and worst weird error messages that may render your car unable to drive. Feels like they rushed this to the market just to compete with the rest of the players but they are acknowledging the issues and trying to fix them through recalls/dealers etc however the clients are the testing lab rats. PS Since you are in Canada maybe you could do his test in winter
