My finger tips might be a little sore, but my wallet is happy. This video helped with the issue I experienced earlier today leaving work. I couldn't get my vehicle out of reverse. Everything is now back in working order with the help of this video, $15 bucks, and some patience. Thanks for the advice 🤗
Mine is a 2012 but think I finally found the answer. No help and grandma so very very appreciative that you shared this and it looks like something I can actually do. Been without a ride almost 2 weeks so wish me luck and will let you know. Thank you again. Much love ❤😊
I’m very thankful for this video because now I have an idea of what happened. I was lucky enough to be downtown in my little city of Columbiana Alabama and a pebble throw away from a little bar with a bunch of men who were happy to help me move it to a different parking place and under the shade tree to boot. I’m getting my tools ready now to go fix it. I knew it was something to do with the cable because, like you said, it shifted to freely. It was stuck in NUTURAL (Thank God). So I had to use the emergency brake to park it. Even if I have to replace the cable, it’s nice knowing it’s not the transmission itself. It’s definitely in the cable. Thanks again for the video. Keep up the good work brother… because there’s no telling how much money you have saved people and that includes me. Damn, I’m sincerely so very grateful for you taking the time to share this with us. 👊
Many Thanks my friend. Your video saved me $600+. Pulled into work today and put in park and heard a “ping”. Vehicle went into neutral basically. I noticed it drifting forward after I turned it off. I tried to start it but it Would not start. Watched your video and it helped me fix it. The console snaps right off easily. While mine wasn’t the part you replaced, the clip you removed had popped out. When I pulled the cable back into place, it would turn over. I was able to get the cable pulled into place and the clip re-inserted. Started up and drove in parking lot and then drove home. So Many Many Thanks…!!! My garage could not see me for 12 days at the earliest and rental was $50 a day. Since it was a minor fix they would not have refunded me for the rental. Hard to tell what the diagnostic charge would have been. Endless Thanks..! Mine is a 2018 Nissan Frontier
Thanks for your video, it was a mystery why my Frontier was totaly dead. Any way, I coud not find the little bushing here where I live, so I made one from neoprene. It took me half a day to build it and trying to insert it into the cable and the into the shifter. But I finally did it and it works so great. I did it just today, I had 5 days with my truck just resting in my garage. Thank you again.
I was looking in my garage for a tool (cotter pin tool) to remove the shifter cover when I tripped over my laminate flooring wedge! It worked perfect. I knew there was a reason I left that on the floor a few years ago!
Brilliant thank you. Hardest part was opening the tool box. A mechanic would have cost me a ton. I even went so far as to cut the annoying carpet piece away like in the vid!
Thanks Alot - My 2006 Frontier drove to store and back and my car would not go into Park and it would roll back as if it is in Neutral. I will check tear into the shifter later to see. I am glad you made this video.
Also, push the collar on the shifter down to reveal a clip that keeps the handle connected to the column. Working with the handle off is a lot easier. Also, I havent tried this yet, put the key in the ignition ignition on engine off (KOEO) put pressure on break...then the cable should pull easily so you can attach the cable while in drive. duh
Thank you for this video :) it helped me fix my truck with ease (those bushings are a pain in the ass I recommend using a c clamp and a 14mil to get them through)
The main cover itself I believe was all snap clips.. Where are you can just basically pull up and it comes on Clifton comes off but the plate that’s around the shifter if I remember correctly had to stay on
@@DavidHernandez-ue4fz It all depends on the person, And how are mechanically inclined they are if you know your way around the toolbox shouldn’t take you no more than an hour
I have a Nissan Xterra. Can you help me out with finding the size I need please. I took it apart last night and saw my rubber part was old and fell off so I held it and pushed it into park. Now it’s sitting and I need to find the right one and size.
It says EASy in title, but he says, "It's not going to be easy" several times LOL I think we are having to do this today! Thanks for the video, I was just kidding with ya :)
@@Tech360Dallas thanks for the response - I appreciate it. I was able to find a forum. The collar underneath the handle / knob …. Slides down a bit and exposes a “U” shaped retention clip. Pop that off and the handle comes off. Thanks again for the response!!!
I couldn’t find anywhere that sold the bushing only I had to buy the whole cable.. Now if you have the old bushing steel you may be able to measure it out if you’re good with a micrometer and look one up

Would this issue keep the truck from starting?
Doubtful,, BUT it could at the same time.. Because if the transmission is not fully in park it won’t allow the car to start
Yes it can keep it from starting if it came off after the truck was in gear.
