You gotta alternate the scrolls for the stats you're not using, because you only get hp from them, but the more you have from the same stat, the less hp they give you. Like at 11:40, picking tactics would've give you more hp (+23% vs 13%).
One of the ones lets you make the vines, one lets you smash through the ground, one lets you run on walls, and one lets you use the teleporters. They all just lock new utility that can give you access to lots of new areas, routes and bosses

to get the rune u need to smash those things, u gotta get it from the elite in the end of the ossuary.
