Thank you, Kim! I am one of the ones that sew on the binding to the back and fold it over. You can be assured that I will be trying your way on my next quilt. I love saving time so I can make more quilts, lol!

This is how I always do my binding. Glad to see someone else use the same method.

I am going to use this technique w/my old Janome 4000 on a large throw quilt I am making for my sister’s b’day. So glad your video came just in time!

Thanks! I really prefer to machine stitch the binding because my hand stitching tends to break and then I have to do it all over again. Ugh! So thanks again for your videos!

Thank you Kim for your helpful video. I also have the HP stitchplate and the HP2-foot. Also I have the Stitch in the ditch sole for the acufeed system. It looks very great. Have a nice day and till next time. ❤👍👍

So you used the SD foot with the regular needle plate so you could alter needle position? You could have manually chose the Accufeed setting in settings too or would you then have to use the zigzag needle plate?

Thank you for the great video. I have used both these feet but prefer the SD foot for most binding. I do find, though, that sometimes my quilt edges get a slight wave after binding despite being flat prior to any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? (I do measure the borders rather than just attaching and then cutting off)

Not sure exactly but when I stitch my binding on, I press it towards the back of the quilt before stitching so everything is nice and smooth. Perhaps that will help your situation.

I noticed when you switched to SD foot the top feed dogs were not engaged like they are when using as a walking foot, until you turned the corner

What if you don’t have the hp plate and foot? I have the 8200, but it doesn’t have the hp set up…

Oops, I just realised, it’s either or. Should’ve kept watching the video before I asked the question 😅

I do not like the way it looks on the back. There is too much fabric outside your stitched area and it looks sloppy. I use 2-1/4 inches for my binding and if I happen to accidentally stitch the binding on the front first, I do use your method. BUT, I find that I have to go back over a few places that 'snuck' out and are not secured. I do prefer to sew on the back and bring to the front and then sew it down. Yes, you can see the stitches, but I don't mind that at all.

    Your walkingfoot is not walking🫣🤔🤭
