0:22 I love how the audience laughed hard when she says she loves wooden signs. We all remember how funny it was the first time around.
I saw the set and I just knew
I thought the other one was your favorite”…. Lol.
Awwwwww!
This time the bit worked much better than first time.
Yes!! I was so excited! 🤣🤣🤣
Aidy Bryant plays the perfect character in these types of sketches. Like that Midwest housewife that goes along with everything regardless of what she's feeling inside but always puts on a happy face. Looking back this was so much my own mom (Wisconsin).
Yeah that's the joke
@@micahned Uh, yeah, that's why I commented on it.
@@micahned Aidy Bryant Is A Silver Slipper
By perfect you mean perfectly typecast.....this is all she seems to play
@@billysullivan6788 you do realize this is a recurrence of the SAME character - not a “type”? Just like many other recurring SNL characters for 47 years?
You can really tell that the props team had so much fun making those signs.
Apparently they were on Shrooms. 😂😂
Or, they just went to Hobby Lobby and bought them. They mostly say exactly those things.
@@jeffs6090 i have definitely seen the "i only drink on days ending in y"
No they just went to Home Depot.
They sell art there.
Was just thinking the same thing lol
Chloe reeling the crowd back in. "Wait, I'm not done"
Haha, and I love that she's actually reading the sign and not the cue card!
She is so cute saying that lol love her
They deserve it once in a while
@@AndrewMacLaine You’re not supposed to read props, TECHNICALLY. That’s why they’re doing that. Their training.
2:37 I think the joke is that immediately after she says "if you died and dad remarried" the dad laughs as if he secretly had already planned that out, so she's actually following the script and saying it to him.
Not Benedict laughing out loud at the "if you died and Dad remarried" line LOL.
....and when he said "oh !" when daughter said no no wait I am not finished !
hits different when you get to the "dad has a secret family" bit
This sketch has Benedict Cumbarbatch and all I can focus is how funny and wonderful Aidy Bryant is. She's a blessing.
I want her and Melissa McCarthy in a movie together.
He's over rated.
@@healinggrounds19 that movie would tank hard cause neither one is funny in my opinion
@@kevin10001 because you're a man who doesn't think women can be funny.
🎉❤🎉
0:35 “they sell art there, too”
that line deserved way more laughs
I know, right?! Apparently lots of people think that's a perfectly reasonable thing to say...?
I really appreciated Dismukes’ delivery of that “$1.99” line
He has some of the best delivery of the current cast.
That’s my favorite line!!
He really is a top tier cast member
Yeah, he's the Prince of Delivery.
I never reply to my own comments but I thought it was funny that I opened a notification while this had 420 likes
Aidy was perfection as ‘the Midwest woman’ - the signs were hilarious.
I’m not drunk, it’s just the wine talking.
Perfection? Wow. Get a life.
Happy Front Hole Persons Day

As in, OH MY GOD, a bottle is talking to me. It has lips & everything.
I I
Did I get so drunk I did shrooms?
“You’re our mom”
“I’m YOUR wife”
I lost it 😂😂
"Yeah, that's what I meant"
You know she loves that part.
Benedict's enthusiasm at flipping the sign around so that 'mom' says 'wow' is so wholesome and pure 🤗
I actually gasped at the “were your ears ringing” one, too accurate
I'd really like that one as a bumper sticker!
Right?
I don’t get that one!!! Someone explain pls I’ll love u forever
@@liv6350 When your "ears are ringing" (I always heard it as "burning" though), it means someone somewhere is talking about you. So her daughter was talking about her mom to her therapist. :-)
@@liv6350there's like a superstition thingy that's common in I guess eastern US (I'm from Appalachia) that if your ears ring someone's talking about you and there's more for other ailments but that's the common one. Another is if your knuckles itch money's coming your way.
the knowing laugh that came when aidy said "you know I love these little wooden signs" was priceless
I'm so happy this character is back
Dad's frenzied laugh and "WHO WANTS MORE PANCAKES?" killed me
A HA HA HA HA
"I don't drink that much."
here's another one.
"you do."
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣
That one literally made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣🤣. Just knowing that she would say that, and just buying a fucking sign that says "you do" 😂. I also love how he hands it do politely when he's literally telling her off through signs
I love that the daughter incorporated the audience laughing into the sketch
It wasn't the audience, it was Benedict as the Dad. He makes the same laugh in the end.
@@sws212 I think he's talking about Chloe when she told the audience, "hold on, there's more" when they laughed way too hard and early at "When you die..." wooden sign part.
@@TheYoustupididiot i think they were saying bc cumberbatch laughed at that part too. he also says “oh” after chloe says she’s not finished, he just wasn’t on-screen during that part.
@@niyjahstop wow, you're right.
that was just benedict cumberbatch
This sketched helped me live, laugh and love.
My mom died in January. I miss her silly dancing and random questions about pop culture thru text that don’t make sense. I wish I could go back in time and give her a big hug for 2 hours. I love you mom; happy Mother’s Day :) at least you are with your own mom now too and I know now how much it hurts to miss your momma. Miss you so much.
I am so sorry for your loss🙏
so sorry 😞
💔💘💝
As if this terrible sketch wasn’t saddening enough…
Such a beautiful post. Yes, missing our Mom never ends.
They should do one about all the birthday cards that make insulting jokes about people getting older.
Lol, I'm guilty of buying those cards
"Dear Mom,
Every year, you get ever closer to the day that all around the world, people celebrate your death, and when people of all faiths unite for one day, ending all hostilities, knowing that you must be in Hell, jerking off a demon while another one flays your skin off. Although noone will go to your funeral, countless will celebrate. No doubt, you'll be buried in an unmarked grave, if only because you already smell like shit, we can't imagine how you'd smell while dead.
We love you so much, Happy 70th - we mean 60th! Sorry, you just look ten years older than all of your friends who are slightly younger than you. Do you remember how surprised that nice old man looked when you were walking with them, and you told them you weren't their mother? He said, "no, that cant be!" and you asked him if you looked alike, and he said "not at all." We hired him off craigslist, and told him to come up to you. But we know this was great for you, as you're a sadomasochist, not in a sexual way, just in terms of how you like to be treated by your friends and family, so this was actually a sweet act of love. We wouldn't have done it if you weren't explicit about this.
We love you Mom."
Never buy them.
She lives in the scariest universe. All of her friends and family are out to get her while seeming happy and naive.
@Robin Justice - It is probably sad for those Christian mothers trying to raise children to be moral and respectful when everything in the secular pop culture teaches them to be otherwise.
@Robin Justice oh boo-hoo
@Robin Justice oh I thought you were a conservative christian complaining about the world being out to get them, my mistake!
Aidy is hysterical in these sketches
Her reactions are great! One of my favorite sketches is her and Rami Malek at Sleepytown. I LOVE that sketch!!
Benedict Cumberbatch is really great at doing an American accent! Sometimes I forget he's British!
He's not British. He's Doctor Strange.
lol he actually wasnt that good at it in this imo. But he usually is in general so I agree to an extent rouboute.
How can you forget? His name is the most British thing ever.
@@canaisyoung3601 exactly, he sounds like a character from an Enid Blyton book thats been banned for its colonial leanings and racist depictions of ethnic characters. Also his accent was jarring to me maybe because i know how very British he is
Well, he can't pronounce American R's.
Andy does the shocked, dismayed but trying to be pleasant so well! I still remember the Irish Dating episode.
They brought back this sketch after so many years! This started spiraling out of control just like the last one 🤣😭
The first one with Regina King was last year.
It has been one year. lol
This recurring scetch always begs the question: where will she hang all these lovely signs?!
Mom: "You won't amount to anything because you procrastinate."
Me: "Oh yeah. Just you wait!"
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
"Dear Mom. If you died and dad remarried"
Dad: HAHAHAHAHAHA
"Wait! Im not finished"
my mom had to tell us to stop getting her edible arrangements because it's lazy and she never finishes them 😆
😂Um....well...about that....😂
Aidy is fantastic. She is even a dancer now, lol.
Aidy really nails the passive-aggressiveness of characters like this.
Really? That's what you got from her character? Interesting. I saw a mom who gets nothing but passive aggressive, insensitive BS gifts from the people she love and cares for and was probably trying not to show how hurt she was. I'm guessing you're not a mom.
I didn't read it as passive-agression, I read it as a kind woman whose family are being passive aggressive towards *her*. She's clearly upset but still trying to be kind and polite because that's how she was raised. It's funny but also sad to watch!
@@ella17734 this
@@jp9707 such this
She's not being passive aggressive at all. She's being agreeable and hitting her limit
Im surprised no one got her a candle.
a plain peach candle
It's been sitting by a bike pump for a year (for a year)
But if they did they couldn't give her all those signs because remember: A lot of people think 2 gifts are better than one, but that just makes each gift seem smaller and dumb.
This is genius. I love how she wishes for wine signs (even after the last debacle)-and is IMMEDIATELY swamped with them. :p
"You do" is the best one
“We got it at Home Depot. They sell art there too” was such an underappreciated joke
Kind of cool how the lines Aidy has to read are literally written on the signs, but she still can’t break the habit of reading them off the cue cards instead.
She needs to face the audience and keep the writing on the board visible at the same time.
To quote Regina king these are my favorite.
This is Aidy's shinning spot with these Mother's Day sketches! She nails it everytime. :-)))
Aidy only has shining spots.
@@xy6845 Shhh, you wanna get suuuued?
So, does that last sign mean we're getting a sequel for Father's Day?
SNL doesn't believe in Father's Day.
I knew he had a secret family, you could tell by looking at him lol
I love a callback sketch. The minute people saw the first sign, they knew what we were getting into
2:42 Benedict’s laugh I love it.
Aidy Bryant is pure gold in every role she does, LOVE her in these gift giving skits 😂😂😂
I forgot to get my mom anything.... Headed to Home Depot for a wooden sign right now!
Congrats on still having a living mom to buy for.
If you bring back any of those signs, you're out of the will!😂😂😂😂
“Were your ears ringing, I was in therapy” 😂😂😂😂
When Hobby Lobby has its 50% off sale for every holiday every other weekend.
I was already cracking up at 0:30! Aidy taking her time after getting so many wrong in the last one of these. Cute throwback!
The casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as Mikey Day's father pretty spot on.
Mom upside down is WOW.
I laughed so loud at the therapy one the neighbor's dog barked.
Yes, roast those signs on a burning bonfire.
I love these sign gift skits and I’m so glad they made another!!
Looking at Benedict in this sketch is like watching Tom Holland in 20 years
Lord I hope not
I think this is gonna be an annual sketch for Mother’s Day. They did this last Mother’s Day and it was hilarious. We will see how this one goes.
The wooden signs are definitely out of control. I see it EVERY WHERE! 😂😂
"oh, we got it at home depot. they sell art there too!" 😂😂😂
"We got it at Home Depot. They sell art there too." Whoosh. Right over the heads of the audience.
Mine too, I guess. Please explain.

I took it to mean they were lazy/didn't care enough to get her an actual gift and just bought a bunch of these cheap signs while shopping for a new drill or something.
I went to a friends house and seeing these Home Good signs in the bathroom was such a jumpscare
I love that he hands her a sign that says "You Do". It means they planned this all in advance.
Lmaooo that was soo good 😂
The props department definitely had fun with these
I've watched this one and the birthday one several times, and they're still funny. Of course, the signs are wild and the gift-givers play it well, but it's Aidy's reactions that carry the day: she is a hoot
That Home Depot promo in the beginning is how they were able to get all those signs made.
I'm glad they brought this back. I love poor Aidy's character.
I do like some of those fun signs though. I've looked at some to spread a little humor. And I won't lie that I don't mind 🍷
I gotta send this to my mom lol. Since I was a teenager it's been a thing that for her birthday and holidays I give her a ridiculous amount of cheap "inspirational" plaques from the dollar store, so these sketches have really hit home 😄
I'll be giving my Mom the only thing she's ever asked for. I'm gonna call her... and not ask for money.
But I'll be calling collect.
Being a freeloader is so zany!
LOVIN’ THIS
Bless you my son ;)
i am so fucking glad they brought this character back!!!
I need to get my grandma these signs, but not in a jokingly loving way, in a 100% passive aggressive way
You want to know what moms really want for Mother’s Day? Paid Maternity Leave.
I took a drink every time they would show a drinking sign, and like, at first I didn't think they were gonna and i was fine with that, but really stoked when they did :) LOVE these!
I don’t ever want these skits to end
My husband attempted to call me Mom after I had two children. No worries I divorced him because he was too old for an abortion.
I don't know to sympathize or to laugh
My dad calls my mom “mom” more than I do. It’s weird and she hates it
The wooden signs, the flowers, the public lip service, the burnt offerings on the plate of my breakfast tray--I would have given it all up for parental leave.
This was awesome probably one of the most funniest SNL skits I’ve seen in a long time.
Those walls look super nice. I wonder if she painted with Farrow & Ball.
The colour
I’m so glad this is a reoccurring sketch
Love all the hilarious signs lol
“Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha” “I’m not finished” “oh…..”
If that sign flips down more than once I wouldn’t even flip it it’s gonna be savage 😂
Hope these signs are available at hobby lobby soon 🤣🤣
I kept expecting one of them to just say "Mom, you've got a drinking problem; this isn't a mother's day party, it's an intervention."
From now on, every time I’m in an awkward situation, I’m going to say “Ah HAHAHA who wants pancakes!?”
“Were your ears ringing? I was in therapy”
🤣💀
Mother's Day sketches from SNL are the best!
The line about “Mom upside down is wow” is reminiscent of a bit that Bob Saget used to use in his stand-up comedy routine from years ago. I remember seeing it as a kid on HBO. It starts out the reverse though saying “wow upside down is mom…and mom upside down is dad’s favourite…” or something NSFW like that.
It started off sweet then turned into a roast outta nowhere ..Damn 🤣🤣
wow mom ı know that you're an angel, much love Mr. Benedict
The props team understood the assignment
Props to the props team!
I am SO glad they brought this back. I love her reading the signs about her being drunk on her birthday. 🤣🤣🤣 I love Aidy so so much!
"I don't drink so much! I think?"
*passed a sign*
"You Do?!?" 🤣😭🤚🏾
Its funny til you walk into a Michaels and see walls covered with these signs like ivy in a meadow 😆🤣
Dad's accent was all over the place there🤣
So glad that they brought this sketch back
As Mom's day is quickly approaching, I wonder if all of these signs are on sale.
Especially that therapy one..
This is the realest mom's day skit! 😂
Narrative of Self is the result of a feedback loop between “Separate Self” & Cosmos🎈
Benedict Cumberbatch with an American accent sets off my fight or flight and I don’t know why 😂
“I think Mother’s Day can be done now” 😂
oh man am in tears after this, i think was better then the last Mother's Day, Aidy Bryant really sells it as she reads them out.
Benedict’s fake laugh is the friggin best lmao
The crab sign😂
