Braindead may be fair, but I think its more that it doesn't require a high level of athleticism to have a good time.

I played for the first time last week. Not sure how I feel about it. I can see its appeal since it is very easy to pick up or at least easier than other “racquet” sports. As a tennis player, I really had to adjust my swing and realize the technique is not the same at all. You need quick reflexes and and you do get a workout due to the fast nature.
However, it does somewhat feel like what we would call “baby tennis” which is what beginners would play to get used to getting the ball over the net. It is a very democratic sport so I can see its wide appeal. I will play a few more times to see. I will also say the scoring is not easily understandable. It also is very close to touch tennis which is tennis played on a court about 1/3 the size of a regular court with smaller racquets and different balls but similar scoring system. The community that plays this sport IS supper passionate which is generally a good thing.

I just Googled it and found it was invented in 1928 (what?). Played on a wooden raised court so heating element could be installed (what?). Also similar to racketball in that the ball could be played off of the screening enclosure.

For instance say opposite side hits ball and 2:02 ball bounces in thekitchen on opposite side of the net. Is the rule for just that one strike or is it thereafter the opposite side may enter the kitchen on that side? And if so is the other team not allowed into the kitchen until a ball bounces in their kitchen? Thanks to anyone who will clarify.

    Must service behind baseline
    Cannot serve into kitchen
Must bounce once in each side when passing, first round, then can volley
Cannot let ball bounce twice on one side
Obviously if hit net other team serves and their point

serves don't have to be underhand, they just can't be above waist level. You're allowed to serve a forehand shot if you don't bounce, spin, or throw the ball up.
