I LOVE YOU!!!!! OMG IT WORKED! I have literally read sooo many different tips about this problem and nothing worked. I factory reset (12 seconds till yellow light) my camera; turned airplane mode on and off; made sure I was plugging in the camera ONLY when instructed to; uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home App. NOTHING worked. I was using my Nest Thermostat as the "assisting device" which worked for my other 3 cameras, but it would not work for this one. So, I took one of my other cameras, plugged it in and used IT as the assisting device and it finally connected! My 4th camera must have been lonely and just wanted to be by his friend. THANK YOU for the great tip!
Best tip ever that the order of the camera set up is important. I had to reset my cameras to factory default but the memory of which camera had been installed first was still programmed in somehow. Once I reset & added the cameras back into google home in the order they were originally installed/set up, everything worked perfect! Number the cameras & QR codes so future issues aren't such a pain in the butt!
For a tech company like Google we should not be having this trouble. I bought a double and the first camera connected ok but I had to set up the second one to another account. Stupidity from Google.
This worked properly just the way you said. Wish I had watched your video before I spent three fruitless hours with the senior tech staff at GoogleNest Support. What is wrong with those people? Don't they have access to youtube? I sent Google support an email reply with the link to your video and a summary of the steps. Hopefully, this will allow them to assist their customers better. Thanks again
I have 10 of the gen 1 nest cameras and love them. I bought 1 of these new ones tonight. It wouldn't connect for crap. My solution was different than yours. I tried it 10 times and kept getting a message saying can't connect reset camera. Well after 10 times I threw it across the room and cracked it up. Back to home depot to return it tomorrow
These things SUCK. I have 5 Google/Nest cams going all the way back to a drop cam pro. Get ready to have to seriously troubleshoot these EVERY TIME you lose power, or change your wifi password, or touch your network (like upgrading your modem). I currently have 3/5 not working all because I rebooted my modem! Google keeps telling me “your wifi router isn’t connected to the internet”. Ridiculous… I have 37 devices actively connected - all of which never hiccuped when I rebooted - only Nest Cams!
@@peaceonearth405 i don’t think it’s WiFi issue I have 2 cameras go offline and I reboot them remove the camera from my google home account and when I go to reconnect them it fails to reconnect and I called google support and they just tell me theirs nothing they can do
You don't need 2 charge cables to connect the 2 cameras per box. This is what I did: after trying to add them separately, I deleted my google home app and reinstall it, then I make sure the cameras were reset by pushing the reset button in the back and making sure the light was white, after connecting it the light will change to blue, then you add one camera at the time to your account but once you get to the QR code scanning, I skipped it and manually added the code at the bottom of the camera and once I added the first one and try the same with the second one I had no issues using the same charge cable. But I think the issue is when using the QR Code scanning...well good luck!
To anyone struggling with this to no avail, you might want to connect to 2g network instead of 5g. I went through a lot of frustration and unnecessary troubleshooting steps all of which did not work. As soon as I connected to my 2G net work it connected in a split second and worked as smooth as butter. 😅🙄
This wotrked perfect;ly - key is the reset is 10-15 seconds- Not 5 Like everyone is saying... The light has to go blue to its fully reset - not white/ grey. Then it allows you to reconnect properly.
5 seconds is a soft reset. It will keep your network settings. 10 seconds is a factory reset, it will bring the device back to the state it was when you bought it
These cameras are useless, i can't get one to work as intended! Notifications are very unreliable (the reason we brought the thing in the firstplace) and the live view doesn't work most of the time, but it records and uploads clips when it detects people no problem
@@0iegocarlos yes mine too, I had 4 cameras total and the ones in the backyard which didn’t have much activity last a little longer but still died rather quickly. You should try looking up some of the google nest forums online. There’s been a few people that have found other ways to connect with creating another account.
Dear all, thanks for your comments… I am despaired ! I ha be exactly the same issue, impossible to connect my second cam of my pack. And of course I only have 1 charger… so I guess I do not have any other option to buy a second charger ? Shame on google to not fix such problem ! What happens if the camera light is green, but it is no longer connected to the account? I lost wifi to my house for a brief time, and my camera just totally shut down. Then, I removed the camera but the cameras light is still green. Now my Google home won't connect to my camera? How do I fix this?
I believe that means it is still recording, it’s strange because it should still be connected even if the Wi-Fi is shut down. My cameras automatically reconnect.
Thank you sir for your positive comment. This was actually the first video I had ever uploaded and was pretty nervous and talked slow because I wanted to make sure that people like who are looking for a solution could hopefully understand me.
This video is false. I install these cameras every single day for a living working for an alarm installation company. You only need one charging cable. Powering up one camera at a time is only to have power while the camera is being installed. Once the camera powers up, click on add new device in the google home app. Choose outdoor camera from list and when prompted, scan qr code and follow on screen prompts. People's biggest mistake when installing these is not selecting the correct email address when setting up their home.
My friend Robert Hard, what your saying is partially true and partially false. Yes for the most part everything should work just like you said but you have to admit that google is working out a lot of “bugs”. This video is not saying that every single camera is defective and I’m 100% sure that you can’t say that every single camera is not defective. I’m glad it’s working for at least one of the 20k people that have viewed this video that are seeking help.
Man just get to the point.

The key is to hold the reset button down for 10-15 sec for a hard factory reset.

There is a reset button on the back side of the camera. Hold it for 15 seconds and you will be able complete your set up.

It needs to be plugged into power at all times if you want that function to work
