  • This a great opener for a double wood or vinyl gate. It can be found on Amazon. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding! Better than any US company sadly enough.

    Lot's of great ingenuity happening in this installation. It would be great to hear an update of how the installation is holding up. You went against all the advice you got, which was good advice BTW. If you have had any significant wind events, those operators and gates should be destroyed. Let us know please.

      @@rentaissanceman Thank you. 2 years and gate openers still going strong. The only thing that I need to do which, I’ve anticipated.. it’s to keep the gates secured while they’re OPEN for long periods of time. Like if I’m mowing the lawn, or plan on working outside all day. I do that, by driving the rods down behind to concrete blocks to keep the wind from putting any unnecessary pressure on the actuator arms.

    Hey Guys! Just wanted to follow up here for any past, present, or future DIYers looking to do this project. After some months, I had to change a few things on my setup. One, was the panels I build to hold the end of the actuator arms onto the gate itself. As you will see in the video, I used self-tappers and 3M industrial double sided weatherproof tape to hold it. I didn't like it and decided to mount a 1/8 aluminum backer plate to the front side of the gate. I painted them black to match the hardware and it doesn't look bad at all. The other was the TOPENS door lock.. hate to say it, love the company.. but their lock sucks! Required way too much pressure to lock right and in some cases was actually bouncing back of the catch. Save yourself a TON of headaches and buy this one...

      Agreed! They all are.. I was somewhat taken back after the install of the fence itself, but it is what it is. However, I haven't had any problems and it will last decades longer than any wood fence that isn't properly maintained annually.

    Is the offset at the hinge necessary if the gates are opening to say 80/85 degrees? I have a double vinyl gate, but the posts are right next to my house on one side and a neighbors fence on the other. Thanks for the video!

  • @Adam-lt6td
    @Adam-lt6td 2 года назад +2

    Did you consider filling the posts with concrete or mortar? Looking for your thoughts on if you think that would have worked also. Great video btw, exactly what I'm looking to do. And one more, Could you have made the gate opened outward and inward? Or would it have been a different configuration? I realize that you would need hinges capable of swinging both ways. It would be interesting if I could have them swing outwardly/inward when needed.

    • @wWLoganWw
      @wWLoganWw  2 года назад

      I did actually and there was no need. The installer concreted the gate swing posts into the ground but only went up about 6 inches inside the post. They are rock solid. This unit can be made to swing both ways. However, you may consider the fact that for them to swing outward, the actuators would be on the outside of the fence exposing them to thieves.

    Great job,
    I’m replacing one of the panels (5wx7h ) of my motorized gate. No contractor will touch it , went thru pro services at Home Depot and lowes w/ nosiness.. So I’m left doing it myself. I’m buying a panel kit and hooking it up to the exiting actuator & replacing hinges etc.
    Did you build the panels ? If so , any advice?
    The existing panels have a cross bar on the 2 motorized panels .
    the kit I’m buying is exactly what you have.. w/o a cross. Any advice would be welcomed. I’m not bob the builder but I have tools and a brain.. lol , thanks in advance .. All the best

      Before I had the driveway done, I ran three 3/4 PVC pipe under it knowing that I would have a use for them one day. You can also do what's called "water jetting".

      @@barbarbarians1 Check this out.. I've used them before. Anything longer than 10ft can be a challenge. Basically glue these on to PVC pipe... jet under the driveway.. cuts ends off... use pipe as conduit. Done.
