The record labels whine about sales being down, people pirating music but if they re-released this concert on DVD/Blu-Ray, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. They shoot themselves in the foot but blame others for their agony.
I love this song!!! one of the best from the H2O album. Daryl was hot with his singing with so much energy, and John was so cool with his little rock solo and G.E. Smith was too.
This is by far my favorite Hall and Oates song. They are one of the greatest groups in the history of music. This performance says it all. Nuff Said! PEACE!!!
I must've watched this concert on HBO 30 times when it first aired. Classic lineup of Hall, Oates, GE Smith (guitar), Tom "T-Bone" Wolk (bass), Mickey Curry (drums), Charlie DeChant (sax/keys) sound so good together. Great memories. Looks like the DVD for this concert is available. Might need to pick it up.
@corkykab While you're making recommendations, I'd make sure to get your paws on "3 Hearts In The Happy Ending Machine". The song "Someone Like You" is along the lines of this one...a brutally direct ballad. And it's drenched in atmosphere! Gorgeous!
i jus only said one of the best shows ever .Thanks Daryl&John for this work you don´t know how much i cry and cry for this particular performance a jewel of music!!!!!!!!!...
Wow, I never saw this clip of one of my favorite H&O tunes (Have I Been Away From You For Too Long gives it a run, IMHO). Always my fave off of H2O, and this version does it great justice. It astonishes me how good Daryl sounds live- one of the most underappreciated 20th century vocalists out there. I wonder how much Larry Fast contributed to the live synth sound; he tore it up on the album. Boy, music held so much promise back in my youth- thank god for RUclips and thanks funix66!!
This is great, I have the DVD of this whole concert but I still think the better version of this song is from Wembley 1984, check it out and see what you think, maybe it's just because I have very fond memories of being at the Wembley show.... anyway one of my favourites... please Daryl come back to the UK soon
Absolutely my Favorite Hall and Oates song and I've been a fan since Sara Smile! I love the guitar solo/player. He reminds me of Willem Dafoe. I didn't realize he's the dude from SNL who I never liked. LOL!
Saw them in Aug.24, here in Vancouver, Canada. Saw them last year too. Close to the end, I stepped down close to the stage, and danced. Some people say I dance like a stripper, anyway... both H&O saw me. When Daryl said "Thank you Vancouver, we'll see you later", he pointed right at me! I'm not imagining this. I'll never forget that moment. They still look hot, especially Daryl. Love him. Their voices too sound better than ever. Amazing show. They could have invited me backstage. Darn!
@nhpm900 Yes, just a beautiful song... don't know if you ever checked out Sacred Songs- some gorgeous ballads on that album as well, with major Robert Fripp contributions...
good video, I really miss this group being out there making real music. I was at the 4th of july concert in central park and DAMN!!!!!!! That should be a course study in college on How to perform on stage!!
Yeah i think it was, cuz i remember reading in some article, saying that Daryl got the idea of this song, when he was staying at some hotel, and saw a sign that said OPEN ALL NIGHT on it. Other stuff i forget, what the other reasons were behind this song etc. Since this was a great ballad he written with his longtime girlfriend Sara Allen, and that's all i know.
probably my favorite hall & oates track
Me too
Still watching ❤❤❤2024 in Depoe Bay 👍‼️😊
The record labels whine about sales being down, people pirating music but if they re-released this concert on DVD/Blu-Ray, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
They shoot themselves in the foot but blame others for their agony.
one of the best songs they wrote
Yes this is an amazing concert, every member so into it. Daryl's dancing is to me GREAT, True Hall & Oates bigtime!!!
Hey, what happened to Rick Springfield!
Jessie's Girl is one of my favorites 🗣🗣
"Maybe I don't wanna hear it at all!"
I love that line!
I was blessed to see H&O live. It doesn't getter better than this
The voice the time was pure quality music!
Sure wish I could turn back time, I would have paid big time to be front row at this concert!
I love this song!!! one of the best from the H2O album. Daryl was hot with his singing with so much energy, and John was so cool with his little rock solo and G.E. Smith was too.

Una de las mejores canciones de Darly Hall and Jhon Oates. Del Álbum H20 !! Saludos desde Lima Peru 🇵🇪
This is by far my favorite Hall and Oates song. They are one of the greatest groups in the history of music. This performance says it all. Nuff Said! PEACE!!!

Absolutely gorgeous track.
Wow wow wow !!!
One of my all time fav songs!
I'm so glad people have posted live stuff from this era. Daryl sounds absolutely great-- one of the best pop voices of all time.
I love it when G.E. Smith pulls T-Bone by the neck of his bass to go center-stage at the end.
i grow up with this music ,it´s all my life HALL AND OATES great music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a big fan of Hall & Oates for last 25 years and somehow I missed that song. How this is possible??? lol . It is a great song. I love it...

This brings back major memories. Loved watching them perfom this live. It was really cool how it fades out to the drum beats at the end.

Pure class! Enough said!!
Great song live concert at Montreal Canada fantastics musicians Daryl is great🎼♥️
yes, G.E. Smith, one of the best guitarists IMO. He was with H&O long before he was on SNL. Great song!
For his voice to be still so strong at the end of a concert is amazing.
I must've watched this concert on HBO 30 times when it first aired. Ooh, Have I been away too long. Love that song so much.. I'd sure love to hear it live.
Very clever way to end the consert....but also sad, in a way; it really ends it!
Had the VHS of this concert. Long gone now.
Good stuff, R.I.P. T-Bone Wolk!
Trance, they're from Philadelphia.

they were like ac DC in the pop era. still are when they are together.
Open All night... That's the way I'll forever be for you, Daryl ;)
That Daryl can sing ANYTHING and I'd listen. WOW.

Melba Palmero is absolutely right the live version is 10 times better. Powerful song no question about it
G.E. Smith was on Fire!!
What year was this performance?
Seeing how Hall's mullet is in it's early stages, I'm assuming this was '82-'83.
Hey it's Anthony Michael Hall on Lead Guitar in green suit 4:14 LOL...
if youre thinking.. cheating someone... this song can you make think things better...jajaja
Hall and Coates rock! Open All Night! Yes.... he was loser!:-)
