Great live performers! Saw them on this tour and this was an awesome song. Love the way it fades out to the drumbeats at the end. GE Smith was incredible! I wished they still performed like that. They've really mellowed out now but are still good.
This song was also relegated to being a B-Side as well. This song was the B-Side of the Family Man single. I always thought that the riffs by GE Smith and the keyboard riff by Daryl were really infectious. We can only wonder how life would have been if they chose to release it as an A-Side and it became a hit.
There is a line in this song: "...Well maybe I don't wanna hear it at all..." This lyric, and the melody at that point. It has stuck with me since the first time I heard it, way back when. One of my fav h&o songs.
Fantastic video and great song of the duo H&O open all night anorher video of the song at live concert from Montreal Canada its fantastic too i love it🎼♥️
I remember when they played this song, a girl I went to school with passed out. This was when most concerts back then were general admission. People were passing out like flies. Anyway, T-Bone pulled her onstage right before GE Smith's solo. When GE started playing, he knelt down beside her and leaned over face while he was playing. The paramedics then came and pulled her backstage. She was OK. I know it would be irresponsible these days, but it added a really cool touch to this song.
That is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing!!! This is a testimony of the kind of person Tbone was, much respect as a musician and human being. RIP🎸
Wow. What kind of girl would cheat on Daryl? And for her to be careless enough to get caught, with all his friends finding out about it. In the '80's I had multiple lovers, but in the '90's I was virtually alone, or with just one person. I did not cheat on that boyfriend because I loved him and I wanted to be faithful. However, there was a time when an outside man had wanted to take me out, because he didn't like how badly and disrespectful my live-in boyfriend was treating me. He had asked me to meet him on this particular Saturday, at 11:00 am. Well, since I loved my boyfriend even though he was mean to me, I felt guilty, so I thought that it would be the right thing to do, if I informed him first, of what I was planning to do. Well, when I sat down with him at the table to talk about my plans for that day, and I had explained in detail about what, where, and when, type of thing, he froze, and he looked like someone had punched him in the stomach. He stared at me in total disbelief, and he didn't say anything for some moments, but then he looked away saying, "Okay, just don't cheat on me". Well, even though I kind of had his permission to meet this other man, (who really cared about me), my boyfriend did a surprising thing that day; he wouldn't let me out of his sight! And he even invited me to go with him to places that he normally didn't want me going with him to. Basically, he wanted to keep an eye on me, and to keep me away from the other guy. So I am the type, that I wouldn't go behind a partner's back, I would have a serious honest talk with him first.
Yes! Finally some more footage from this show. Please if you have any more put it up. I grew up watching songs from this show but this wasn't one of them. I've got Private Eyes, Maneater, You've lost That Lovin' Feeling, Your Imagination and Rich Girl. It's really great to see more, thanks.
how open is all night ….. hate the guy that thinks he ha s you figured out..... damn the obnoxious one.... we hate him... that defines you …. gonna bring him down..... never define …….. me …. I will say the what you do not want to hear...…. remember tha t.... love you …
Damn, that was amazing! Daryl's the most gorgeous thing ever. I wish I was born a few decades earlier so I could've caught this concert. The bass and guitar duel at the end was bloody brilliant.
If it was Baker, it was likely on account of him working with Daryl and John on Big Bam Boom around this timeframe. Prior to that, the only "outsiders" they used in production were Hugh Padgam, Neil Kernon, and Larry Fast.

Great song!!! Great performance!!!
Great concert At Montreal i remember very well this 👍❤️🎼
Never seen 'em with such energy : awesome!
I remember watching this on TV at the time - only wish there was a DVD
General Electric Smith lighting that guitar up.
George Smith is fantastic on this!
T-bone pumpin the bass - wow!
No Hall of Fame for Hall and Oates yet? FUCKING CRAZY!!!
Open all night......I like that....If I am open ....does that mean you are open????? All night.?
john deacon quaking at 4:42
I've been to many concerts throughout my life, Daryl Hall singing this beats all of them by a mile.
This is my all time favorite song not sung enough.
Love this song, I love listening to these music videos. I will never tire of these artists!
I only just discovered this song recently. The live version is incredible!
Best version of this song performed live!
I'm as impressed with this performance now, as I was when I watched it on TV in 1984 !
Listen to Tbone jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite Hall and Oates songs. Also one I can relate to.
Beautiful Song
The ending is just too cool!
Still sounds good

Love this song! Perfection with these guys!💙
*their, not there.
Agree this was a great performance - soulful tune. Love GE Smith's solo - seem to remember he went on to tour with Bob Dylan

this is an amazing version of this live song and make me happy
this is the coolest ending of a song in rock i think : )
RIP T-Bone. You will be missed very, very much! You were an awesome bass player and a wonderful person.

This is my favorite of all time.
I agree! He was fantastic as a live performer--just wish he had gotten more respect as a guitarist back in the 80's.
💙🎼🎵
i just love it it blows me away!
Good stuff, R.I.P. T-Bone Wolk!
Excellent rhythm!!
GE and that guitar. OMG. Magic!
Why didn't John do more guitar solos? He wasn't as flashy as GE but he could still put some notes together and he was a really good picker.
awesome song and performance, I really was there in 1984, come back to England soon please Daryl, we miss you
I saw hall and oates with carly simon...great show.....great songwriters...great harmony..

Does anyone know if this Wembley Arena concert is available on album?
One of the best H+O performances I've seen. Better than the Rock n Soul version. Thanks again, kone!
awesome as always love them. The guitar work is fabulous❤❤
John Oates l looks like Prince
I noticed neither Darryl or John have tattoos.
Oh yes, found it
STILL SOUNDS GOOD IN 2024
Is that Arthur Baker in the background clip?
It's possible...because Baker worked with them ...and,with Daryl,
co-produced Swept Away for Diana Ross.
If it was Baker, it was likely on account of him working with Daryl and John on Big Bam Boom around this timeframe.
Prior to that, the only "outsiders" they used in production were Hugh Padgam, Neil Kernon, and Larry Fast.
Believe it or not, I like watching this one.
Thank you so much for posting this i love it
It's amazing how you pulled this stuff out!
going to see them in concert tomorrow nite!!!!!
What did I do?
Wow! This ones better than Montreal...absolutely love this song. Wish they would do it now :) RIP T Bone we miss you........
Finding out she was open all night? Worse day of my life.
*worst
JEEZ, this is pretty weird stuff, bro. At the same time weird and A-W-E-S-O-M-E.....
Who is the drummer in this lineup?
mudhens4ever Micky Curry, he went to Brian Adams' band, but came back for several tracks on DIFL as well as Laughing Down Crying
Thank you 😘🔥🔥🔥🔥
Simplemente IMPRESIONANTE.
Me fascina es un gran intérprete
Porque no han traído nunca a Darill Hall a Viña cuando es sensacional?
I saw them perform this song 6 times during this concert tour :-)))
