So, as a beginner I fly an EN-A wing. You don't often see these get pushed to the limit. Very interesting to see how much this wing will take before it says "enough is enough". Obviously quite resilient to bad pilot inputs up to a point.
Not many bad inputs there. What should we do if begin twist up?
It's amazing how you dominate all the movements, and how the A wing responses to all of them very safe, very slow...I love this video.
As a guy thinking about getting into paramotoring, I'll say thank you for this. You're crazy lol but this really shows how stable these A wings are
Matt, to fly acro safely requires a lot of humility. It's best to repeat the basic maneuvers (e.g., stalls) hundreds of times and train them to perfection before you move on to more advanced ones (e.g., heli). Your stalls look quite messy to be honest. Try to enter backfly from parachutal stall with minimal deformation of the wing, you will learn a lot more from that (and it will help you with flying clean helis later on). Also, glorifying near-misses is not the right attitude in a safety-focused acro culture. Anyways, I hope you don't take this the wrong way... all the best and soft landings!
Thanks for these wise words.
Here is the final speech in the Ozone A class glider manual.
Summary
Caution is the raison d'être of our sport.
In order to fly safely, you need to train, increase your experience and be aware of all the surrounding dangers.
To achieve this you must fly regularly, train yourself, practice on the ground as much as possible and take an interest in the weather.
If you neglect any of these rules, then you expose yourself to more risks.
Flying requires years of learning, the progression is endless. The experience builds slowly, so don't skip the steps by “putting pressure” on yourself.
You have your whole life to learn and there is no age to fly very well.
If the conditions are not good, fall back and go home, tomorrow will be another day.
Don't overestimate your skills, be honest with yourself.
And never forget that it is better to be on the ground dreaming of being in the air than to find yourself in the air regretting not having stayed on the ground!
Every year too many pilots are injured while taking off. Do not imitate them!
Takeoff is the phase during which the pilot is most exposed to danger. So train as much as possible.
Some take-offs are difficult, narrow, with delicate conditions. If you practice inflation and manipulation on the ground, you will make the difference.
You will be less exposed to risks and better prepared to take advantage of good flying days.
Ground work is also a form of flight that will make you more sensitive and more responsive to the information your wing transmits to you.
Finally, show the utmost respect for the weather: The elements have
a force you can hardly imagine.
Set your limits and stick to that niche.
@@adelinspv I disagree with you about everything it said if you're flying over a lake and you have a boat to come get you there is your chance to answer every question you ever had in your life about flying. I love him for putting on this video because it showed that you can finally get that class a wing to screw up. I'm very unlikely to ever go on these trips and have a lot of money to spend on this but these guys that go on and do this for us to watch on the videos, save lives.
Bro does it for a living. 🤷
The Unitedesertes culture is one of marketing and money. They don't mind a few people being killed. They are always sure it is someone else going to be next. We don't have very many people here. We had a guy go out in the desert bail out of an airplane and let the airplane crash. Most people in Germany or the Netherlands couldn't imagine an airplane falling out of the sky without hitting somebody on the ground..
@@abseil76 That has never been a proof of capacity.
I done my first ever tandem flight there a month ago, I'm now addicted and looking to get qualified. Can't wait 🤙
gotta love Matt's style, who has got it better than him, not I, Love it, Matt!!!!
Awesome! Sky was my first wing in 2008, I live like 15 minutes away from the factory :D
No embarrassment here. I worked on boats in Louisiana and everybody there would be proud of you for jumping on that student Wing and showing everybody what it can do.
Did it for science
@@minyardmatt that was a common explanation.
@@markmcgoveran6811 if you want a detailed one give me a call i can talk to ya about it for days
@@minyardmatt I appreciate that greatly, and I will get ahold of you when I have a discourse worthy of your time.
I dont know how you suppose to fly because i never did it..But yes this the way we should do with everything to know it's limits..I guess this is how we learn to bw safe..I admire your courage to do all these things.
What a wild ride!!! I'm not interested in Acro, but I definitely want to take an SIV course to feel more comfortable with what I can handle and where a glider maxes out.
great minds think alike my thoughts exactly. Though I am looking to get into para-motor, I want to know the glider limitations and balance safety with room to grow . I also feel if the wing can handle more than I am going to do, then i can try new things but most importantly not run into trouble by overflying the wing.
@@glen3257 we teach all year if you are interested in learning from me! Ive been super un satisfied woth learning in usa so i traveled to 30+ countries to get an education and bring that info back home to usa! Here we are ten + years later still learning
Matt. Thank you. You are a inspiration.
That wing was like What is This Fool Doing? It was matching you in 4D chess until you twisted in a way even a noob wouldnt do. Good wing.
Matt Spice!!!! So stoked to find you here! Super subscribed!!!
Absolutely mutual happy to find you too bro! Ummm I'm looking for another editor as mine fell off the planet ( flat earth lol )
Cool to see you doing thorough testing on equipment! Glad you're ok!
That’s such an epic story. Thanks for sharing it with us Matt!! 🤙🏼🦅
Great test am a beginner paragliding on Pensilvania usa , this help field safe and good learning..
Dude! I was there! Didn't see you go in but saw your wing hanging there haha! I just went for an SIV on an upper A wing but top of the weight range so was dynamic as hell. Learned a lot & definitely going back ASAP! Yay Oludeniz Maybe throw my reserve ar ar! Good one, happy flying!
Awesome vid..I've just come back from there doing an SIV with Jocky Sanderson best course ever... I didn't throw my reserve but two did that week
Takes me back, doing a SIV course there with Jocky Sanderson using a Nova Rookie, that was a great wing, great course.
That's who I just did mine with too. He's super quick to call it, fixed me up a few times!
Im very respectful of acro and high energy manuevers. I really need to do an SIV and break that mental barrier. As a fixed-wing CFI it's my job to know the absolute limits of the aircraft and I hate not knowing that on my paraglider
Awesome talk through! You sure had a fun sesh!
Absolutely trying to get as happy as you my brother
Hey Matt, thanks for the very entertaining video! Since you threw your reserve, do you have any comments or insight about it? Clearly, it's very easy in the moment, to throw it "badly". Would you do anything differently about how you went about throwing it, if you were in the same situation again?
Awesome man! enjoyed watching that test!
This brings back fantastic memories from my 1st SIV earlier this year. Dude! You nailed it! Rocking those sic maneuvers on an A wing! My goals are more XC oriented, so I'm happy with my B wing for now. I loved every bit of this video. So... how do you get the salt out of the fabric? That's likely to be very abrasive.
Embarrassing would be getting hurt thinking you could save it. It's never Embarrassing to toss and fly another day... that's why we invest in the skills and gear.🤘🤘👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Key points here would be to use the acro wing for acro, and the EN A isnt fool proof in every single way, but still works for fool proofing most regular pilots
It looked like you had to try pretty hard to get the "a" wing to twist like that. Right now I'm just learning to fly a little bit.
Good job good lessons. Glad it all worked out.
Great video Matt
amazing video man thanks ! Flying A wing aswell for now, very interesting ;)
water rescue, fethiye specialists are the best of the whole world !
Absolutely they are the best
totally f*kn awesome! Love it, thanks for the vid.
That was some good action. Fuck yeah man
Reserve a must!
Doing laundry! Way to go Matt. 😅
killa! 🔥🔥🔥
You da man, Matt!
Thanks for the video
Good one Matt, you da man!!! your the coolest, brother come back to Australia soon. love to meet you
Hey dude make some intense paramotor flying videos i’m always looking for your videos your a legend brother!!!
I would practice throwing that reserve…that was rough
It was awesome!
super interesting what a school glider can do
This wing is Great!
Good video
Thanks Matt
Wow, show how much gliding goes on at that bay when you practically have an official glider rescue boat.
As a former test pilot, I can tell you, the most stable aircraft are typically the scariest when you exceed their built in safety
Badass!!
Excellent!!
When u began to twist up what should u do?
Well in a general case if you have altitude while twisted, you can check if your wing is flying straight + level basically under control or not... If it's under control you can untwist yourself and go on with your flight... If you are a bit out of control you should toss the reserve parachute out immediately or use a cutaway base system if you have that option and want a new glider to appear overhead. Otherwise you need to fix the twists and enjoy the flight. I was trying a certain technical thing to stall my wing and have it take the sat direction to helicopter before just allowing it to have traction in forward flight and slipped up ... I think if I had more altitude I would have tried to untwist but I just tossed my reserve as I was super low and going in the water at this point already! Totally enjoyed it because of my position over water and soft terrain, with the safety boats available and already in the water I was a bit more comfortable to toss a reserve in the middle of the ocean! Overall good times id do it again :)
I've never considered pulling maneuvers in a place with salt water. If you've fall in, you must throw everything in the garbage. The salt is terriblet, it corrodes everything... even if it only happened once. So, I can't understand...if you are American (I think understand it....that's right?) why didn't you go to Lake of Garda in Italy? the place it better for acro training and so mach safe for you and your equipment. Good wind!
I go to both places!
What was your TOW and size of a paraglider, please?😁
I am 65 KG and regular harness plus not sure about size i think s or XS ... Either way if you arent flying acro this video wont make a lot of sense.. if you are then you can clearly see whats up
I am flying just basic acro on EN-C paraglider and once I flew on acro glider on SIV and tryed arytmetic SAT, but thats all😅
This video is really good, perfect to see what the EN-A can do with the skilled pilot.😎
I was just wondering if you must be heavy on that wing (I mean 10 kg over weight range for example) or that wing can behave like this also in certified weight range😀
@@oliversuroviak to my knowledge im not overloaded will look into the details. I can tell you that within the range you can do all of those tricks also as i use EN B 24 and 22 at home and for sure its best to use acro wings for acro in my opinion... Some EN b gliders are good for it like ITV wasabi is strong build quality, and fun for stalls / heli / clean sat with the tip stable... But in my studies you should use acro wings for hard acro like mactwist and rythmic + tumbling etc only try with acro wings
Nice, thanks 👌
what a rush!!!
Ну это надо было хорошо постараться, чтобы такое,супер стабильное крыло,перестало лететь! 😎👍

Cool. 🎉
Nice Video! A real nice video! But PLEASE PUT THE MUSIC AWAY.... It dont make it more dramatic or monumental.
Yeah this editor kinda went nuts! Fair enough
entertaining
Wicked handling Matt! It's not acro training unless you get wet!
I think the wing just got angry at the abuse.
Crazy 🤣🤣🤣
If you, with 10+ years of experience threw the reserve like that..... Me as begging, its better wait the death..... 😄😄😄
I was the First like UH HoOO
😬
😂😂👏👏👏
2nd
it sure did take alot of abuse lol
stop torturing that poor wing
Why is this boring to watch? This acro.is not well executed .. i m not sure it was a good decision to do this
Too much talking.
I agree for sure, thats what my editor wants so i did it! Appreciate the feedback
Of we dont talk viewers say we should talk so its difficult to find the balance point! Thx much love
