Hi Scotty I used to have an Ebike what a disappointment, no range to speak of, slow to charge, and really hard to peddle with a dead battary. So being a mechanic and welder/fabricator i built a gas powered trike with a cargo basket over the engine and rear wheels. way more reliable and efficiant.
Batteries have come down in price lately, no excuse for Elon!!
@@markseehawer3762 I wouldn't think of going anywhere on my premade ebike without battery power assist; it's too heavy, with shocks and racks and carriers and 2.1 inch wide tires. I can go 40 miles on a charge and beat the rush hour traffic like they're all standing still - because THEY ARE .
If you install an e-motor on a lightweight bike you can go way further if you're just pleasure cruising and pedaling too. And who needs more than 40 miles anyway?

Government subsidies is how they’re staying in business… like the majority of companies.
Have you not seen Teslas margins? They also have most sold car in the world
You mean like the bailouts of American POS auto manufacturers in 2008? At 60+ I’ll probably never own another US made vehicle…maybe a Tesla.
@@patrutherford9600 And......? Ford, GMC, Chevy did the same thing years ago. Most vehicle sold, but only to government entities, like police departments & armed forces. I used to drive shitty Chevy S-10 pickups in the 90's. Some companies even buy their own vehicles to manipulate the figures. Consumers are NOT buying them. Anything subsidize by government is a fail, like banks & car companies. There's yards of brand new EV in China & elsewhere just rotting away.

no Tesla graveyards in china. other companies, yes. And here i thought we disagreed.
I agree with Scotty about Tesla's problems. Why? because in my former job which WAS private & bought out by Big US company, ALL the employees were walking on eggshells knowing our jobs were in jeopardy, but the big wigs kept having meetings with us saying "Oh don't worry we're the ONLY company that makes our products and we're not going anywhere". This was in 2018 and in 2020, I got let go. All the employees knew we were done despite what the bosses were saying. Today 2024, where's our company? SHUT DOWN and gone! Employees will give MORE accurate information of what's going on in a failing company even though the big wigs say, "It's all good, not to fear"
The big wigs needs time to sell their shares 😁

Elon's strategy has been to look for companies that work with the government. He went EVs because there were huge subsidies guaranteeing a profit. Space-X is hand-in-hand with government. He only spoke against subsidies AFTER he built Tesla WITH subsidies and tax breaks. Elon's strategy: "Get in and close the door behind you." Typical billionaire.
Fair criticism. Something I've never liked about the guy.

How foolish or ignorant people can be about electric cars?
Hardly any infrastructure to accommodate EV owners and expensive insurance if you get into an accident.
Insurance is a flat deductible if you get into an accident. It cost me just as much on my gas cars. Many have an EV and a gas car. This is a good way to save for your daily commutes with brakes, gas and oil, belts, plugs, clutch etc.

Scotty as a long time bicyclist commuter prior to owning full on loan cars, i respectfully offer you my opinion. My decision came down to getting a vehicle or e-bike but the risk of it getting stolen and occasional need to haul bigger volumes of things swayed me to get the vehicle. It could be a life decision for die hard frugal people. Gj Colorado I suppose. Also, if i had my way, id like a hybrid bike with miniaturized systems for observational learning. Could offer a stepping stone opportunity to qualify people to work on electric vehicles.
I commuted to work for years, about 50 km both ways, and consumed about 1000 calories more per day to do so. The extra food had to be produced, and its production would produce pollution. Someone more competent than me should compare the pollution caused by electrical bikes and regular bikes.

Sold 2 cars? And they close Oldsmobile & Pontiac? 1st car was a Toyota & I’ve driven a Tacoma (white 4x4 both), from 02’ to date 2013-4x4, Crew Cab, V-6 250HP!
I’m old and still driving my 2015 LaCrosse! It is in good shape.

Some Danish engineers made calculations on bicycle riding. (Denmark is a "cycling nation")
The cyclist burns calories bicycling,- these calories comes from food.
Food production burns fuels and electricity.
If you you move from A to B, the total energy consumption and pollution is quite even. Driving a gasoline car or a bicycle.
Including production and total lifetime of the car/bicycle.
Interesting and not popular calculations :)
Scotty, I own an e-bike for 4 years that replaced my honda accord to take me in a 16 miles trip to work and back. That’s a trip that I would never do pedeling in a normal bicycle, and I think we have 1000’s of people in my case. And as I can see you are simply calling me stupid. Just wondering how am I polluting more. E-bikes battery are a fraction of a size of an EV in therms of production emissions. And here in switzerland where I live, the electricity is 100% renewable.
Sorry Scotty, but I can’t really understand your point there.
Being a subscriber of your channels for years, made me economize a lot of money in maintenance and small repairs. Love your work but not everything you say its true.
Thanks and being friends again 😅
It's the amount of resources it takes to create ev vehicles. And the recycling ability is not good at all. The replacement batteries end up costing more than the vehicles.
Regardless of what they say most electricity is not 100% renewable.
Evidently you missed the point. He's saying that as an overwhelming general rule, e-bikes replace regular bikes for regular bike riders... which defeats the purpose of attempting to create less pollution because manufacturing, operating, and maintaining e-bikes creates MORE pollution than a regular bike.
If you're actually replacing a car with an e-bike, then you're an exception to that overwhelming rule. Exceptions don't negate the general rule, so what he's saying is still 100% correct. It'd be like if your local pizzeria said "80% of people who order delivery from us choose pepperoni as their topping" and you replied with "that's not true, I've been ordering sausage for 4 years now."
I love this guy, don’t know anything about ev and Tesla companies, when the company start making the cheap Tesla will love to see the face of scoty.
Tesla sucks
Should have been announced 2 years ago if there was any plan to ever release a compact vehicle.
Even if the "Model 2" was announced this very day, would take 2-3 years to get it to market. Cars are not shadow dropped on the market my guy, if there was even 1 prototype car, we would have seen it.
I want a flying car
I'm grateful to be an owner of a gorgeous 2004 Mazda 3 and she's very reliable and best of all, she's an internal combustion engine vehicle that has proven to be tough and extremely reliable for two years since I acquired it. 💝
Another here pushing 80 & I'm driving a 2009 GM that's in fantastic condition & still does 50mpg!
The old people get 3 wheel electric bikes..

Some California and Arizona homes are saving money today with the current generation of solar panels with its multi-day batteries! Solar energy will not be limited to solar panels - it will be absorbed by many new tech like the photovoltaic window system that produces continuous energy from sunlight, diffused, and ambient Light.
Back then in 2012. Dad looked at the Fiat Italian car. But went with 2012 Volkswagen TDI Jetta. we went through the Bosch (emissions), recall but kept car, 6,000 dollars (kept car) for dad's denture bill. I still have it and taking care of it and repairing it, best I can. Buick Lasabre was a great car! Floats on water!
I has a Le Sabre. 2001. Loved it. Great on gas. Boulevard ride on the budget. Spacious.
Hey -- Fix It Again Tony…..although i loved my fiat 850 coupe👍😄

Scotty, you have posted about 100 videos stating that Tesla has gone or is going bust. Every week you claim another huge car manufacturer has gone or is going bust, yet they’re all still here.

best come back sounds like Ronald Reagan.
Haha, only rich early adopters even wanted an EV. FIAT is fix it again, Tony.
No solar for me or my wife. We're retired, not using much electricity in the first place and won't live long enough to pay for the ugly crap on the house. It would cost us more! We rarely pay $70., many months under $60. Plus, we live in the north with many cloudy days (sometimes weeks).
Solar panels have to be at the right angle to get good efficiency hanging them on a fence will not work, you make it 10% efficiency
Gotta Love the old Cadillacs! Wife is at33,500 Miles on her 2008!!
Colorado giving tax breaks to people buying electric bikes-you’re probably right Scotty, but in the states defense, it just looks good on paper. I work in a state job and everything is sugar coated on paper to justify us.
On solar panels. The Diodes under the back panel is where you modify the solar panels. The majority of the time when a solar panel doesn't work. One is burned out. There are 4 or 5 per panel. Buy 30 amp ones. Then buy. Alaminium heat seankers. When you solder on the new one. You're not burning it out with the hot iron. I have about 4 bags of them. They were cheap.
Man, can you try explaining that again? Take your time, and make it make sense.
