    11:20 every single item on that list is harmful to babies.
    1. Raw milk is one of the riskiest raw things you can consume (according to Google at least)
    2. Raw eggs can cause salmonella
    3. Honey, raw or not, can cause something called infant botulism in children under 1 years old.
    I can only imagine how much less safe they are mixed together.

    • @TheHohenheim
      @TheHohenheim 6 месяцев назад +22

      med student here, humans in general aren't meant to consume whole milk, raw or not.
      Some adults can withstand it, but for babies, the absurd ammounts of caseine and fatty acids that cow milk has makes it an awful (and really dangerous) alternative to breast milk.
      It can cause something called necrotizing enterocholitis, which is just the medical term for when a baby's intestines stop moving and rot along with food and fecal matter stuck in them.
      Even if a baby survives (probly with a bunch of damaged intestine surgically removed), consuming cow milk at that age is associated with severe food allergies, asthma, etc.
      Raw milk by itself can cause tuberculosis, brucellosis, and another bunch of nasty diseases even in adults.
      Raw eggs, depending on factors related with QA, can contain microbes such as salmonella, campylobacter, s. typhi (responsible for typhoid fever), and some more.
      Raw honey is not an ideal housing for bacteria because of low water availability but it is for their toxins, such as the ones causing intestinal botulism (which also can affect adults), tetanus, diphtheria, etc.
      TLDR don't feed your babies that crap, and don't eat that crap yourself, babies shoudn't eat anything but breast milk until >6 months of age, baby formula is only advised in a few situations but is obviously better than the things on that list.

    So.. when I was getting ready to move out when. I was 19. My mother decided to hide my shit and lock it up, and she took my ID out of my wallet and hid it while I was asleep. When my friend, who was picking me up to move as I didn’t drive at the time, came around, my mom FLIPPED out. She called the police. She tried to use my mental health as a reason for the cops to support her claim-note I was not a danger to myself or anyone else, and I have NEVER, not even once had any ideations of the big S. The cops listened to her, my friend drove off for a little bit on the direction of the cop to cool my mother down in that moment, and once the friend was gone, the cop looked her right in the face and said “She’s 19, right?” My mother confirmed. Cop: “then give her back her ID. If she wants to leave, she can leave. She is an adult. The only one here doing anything appropriate is you by illegally withholding her property.”
    And yes, I moved. She legit called my sister and told her to follow us. My sister did, but only for a very short time. She knew there was NOTHING she could do. Later on, she laughed about it and said “well the hell did she expect me to do? Ram the Car? Swerve ahead of you?” And so she stopped after about 5 minutes and turned home. Heck, she moved out while pretty young and moved in with her future in-laws while still in college just because of mom’s BS. She knew exactly what I was going through and the lashout it provoked from our mother.
    My sister told me after mom died, she felt relieved. She didn’t realize just how much she was walking on eggshells while having a low contact relationship with her until she was gone.

    Usually these posts don't actively make me cry, because I can't really relate to insane parents that much. I like laughing at the pathetic parents who think they can still control their child when they're adults and such. But 24:58 got me really bad. I imagined myself in those shoes and if it was me receiving that message from my mom. The thought of being permanently erased from my family like that, burning every tangible memory they have of me, it hit me so bad I broke down and cried. I know this was because OP got a restraining order and this is better than keeping her in OP's life, but it made me cry because I was imagining it coming from people I love.

    • @LilChuunosuke

      One time when I was a teenager, my mom pulled out her photo collection to make a scrapbook. Literally thousands of photos. I sifted through them to help her look for specific photos she needed and realized that for every one photo of me, there were *dozens* of photos of my brother and father. It's like I was an afterthought in their lives. When I moved out, they tried to guilt me into coming back by sending me photos of myself as a kid. But they were only able to find around 3 photos of me where I was smiling. I remember that I was crying in a lot of the other pictures, which is likely why they never sent those ones.
      It really is painful to realize that you mattered so little to your own mother that they don't even cherish any of those mementos of your childhood. It really solidifies how much you mean nothing to them if they aren't getting what they want out of you.

She says she gave them to her kid, whom I have never met and I believe may be deceased, from the age of 2 months. She also complains that my youngest child, the aforementioned infant, is not walking yet (while another infant present is 3 months older and not walking either) and my eldest, 2.5 years old, isn't potty trained yet. The latter of which stopped when I mentioned that my doctor's 5 year old still wears pull-ups to bed. This lady also complains that we don't visit her. Her apartment is tiny, she is a hoarder, said apartment is disgusting and my oldest is smart enough to voice his disapproval and possibly break some of her stuff. All around the biggest pain in my ass.

  • @Ares_V
    @Ares_V 6 месяцев назад +10

    I have costochondritis... It's awful. What op didn't mention is that "that place where the ribs meet the bone in the middle of your chest" is an articulation NEEDED for a wide range of movements and TO ALLOW YOUR LUNGS TO EXPAND (so you can BREATHE).
    So if you have an inflammation on a knee you just don't put stress on that knee, maybe use a brace or something. If you have pain due to an inflammation on the articulations in your hands then you use them less and opt for stuff that are easier to grab/operate so
    you don't have to put stress on those articulations. You can't just stop breathing to put less stress on the articulation affected by costichondritis.
    Even someone hooked to a ventilator would still need that articulation for theirq lungs to expand. Imagen if you hurt your knee running but you'll get eaten by a lion if you stop running that's still not the case but that's similar to what it feels like.

    Just giving context to the costochondritis story. Costo is an inflammatory disorder that affects the little joints where your ribs meet your sternum. It's incredibly painful and it often flares up with these attacks of intense pain that legitimately feels like a heart attack. Anything that requires you to move your arms or engage your ribs can worsen that inflammation and trigger one of those attacks, as can the cold and even a hug. I have costo and even wearing a seatbelt or picking up an empty cup can be enough to cause pain. Telling someone with costo to just man up and go to practice is insane, doubly so for a sport like volleyball that not only requires you to move your arms wildly but actually engage your chest and shoulders with force.

    I had parents like this! While I do occasionally struggle due to the lack of support system in my life, cutting all the crazies out was one of the best things I ever did. I can actually work where I want during the hours I want, can date girls, can sleep in late without being dragged out of bed by the ankles, put off doing chores until i feel up for it, take time off work to spend time with friends, etc.
    I wish I had a normal family I could lean on for support during tough times, but I'm happy to be free.

    As one with two insane parents (One a criminal and absolutely lost in the conspiracy sauce and the other severely mentally ill that I was parentafied to take care of her early on instead of her parenting me), I'm actually slightly grateful that they taught me, unintentionally, how to actually treat my children in the future and these r/insaneparents posts have really helped me identify not just the terrible abusive behaviour my own parents exhibited that I didn't realise was abuse but also my own toxic traits so I can go to my therapist and figure out a healthier path to use in the future.
    r/insaneparents is a strange blessing to Reddit; even if the posts are awful to see, it actually helps make change for the future, even if it's just me.

    Had very similar issues with my parents. One of the first things I did was to switch over as many bills as possible to my name. They made it next to impossible for me to do so, refusing to cancel the existing arrangements.
    I ended up just getting my own phone and car that was in no way connected to them.
    Remember, the only reason they insist on paying your bills, is so that they can threaten to cancel them whenever you do something they don't like.
