Merry Christmas guys! 🎅 I'm going to do this for EVERY T5 infantry unit in Bannerlord, next one will be the Imperial Legionary & I'm planning on uploading at least one video every day! Regarding ranged attacks - they are disabled as this series places the highest of emphasizes on brute melee strength. Besides, shield infantry simply shields against ranged, and all 2-handed infantry have throwing axes, which are extremely bad against units in high armor, where I show in this video: ruclips.net/video/qSlpFTGbhU4/видео.html. The only two T5 infantry units that have good throwing weapons is the Battanian WIldling, who has 10 high-damage javelins, and the Aserai Veteran Infantry with 5 decent javs. Remember - I did 5 rounds of 50v50 for each fight for a more reliable K/D calculation as fights usually have different outcomes even if the same side wins. Heroic line breakers vs veteran falxmen. The real battle, as outlined by the most epic soundtrack in the game 🙂 Glad to see some other troops than the Fian perform well for Battania.
It's honestly so hard to break down what units are best when you're caught up in the day-to-day of the battles and, for me I've found, faction biases. Glad you put so much effort into testing for us so we can get solid evidence on what units are actually worth using and having in your army. Thanks for another great video!
The faction bias for Vlandia is incredibly annoying. 90% of people still play Vlandia and if someone doesn't, he will get bullied to oblivion. Saying this as someone who doesn't play Vlandia.
My army always is like 35 to 45% oathswron. And the rest fian champions and even as 200 troops in total I can kill armies that reach 800+ troops and loose less then 35 troops
I know people don't want the fact but just face it, Khuzait Khan's guard, for an investment of 60 gold per day, that unit fulfills three role whereas other tier 6 unit can only in max 2 role but is as expensive to maintain, the Khan's Guard is a better choice in everyway, unless you apply mod units.
@personal9372yeah, I tried them and they just obliterated everything, even in sieges, even dismounted on the field, even dismounted as archers... Even when F1 F3, even when outnumbered 5 to 1... They are so OP using them is not fun:(
It has to do with swing speed and handling I think Big axes are kind of awkward to move Poles too but once the swing starts it's a quick and deadly swift Could see in the video line breakers were killed just before giving the last killings blow Got " outspeeded "
linebreakers are easily defeated against wildlings if you don't make the stupidity to F1 + F3 like in the vídeo, please bannerlord is a game about tactics.
We need similar tests, but on the fortress wall, so that we can see how units behave during sieges. I think everything will change there. Long weapons like the falx or voulg will not be effective in a confined space and a dense crowd.
Just fought a battle 50 line breakers vs over well 1000 enemys they only had öadders sonce we destroyed alls siege weapons and won easily they never broke formation
The two handed weapon troops beat the one handed troops in one on one combat, but the two handers are going to be vulnerable to archers and cavalry lances. I would like to see what happens if the spearmen and pikemen use their polearms instead of their backup one handed weapons.
They'd fare even worse due to the AI's tendency to facehug no matter the weapon. They'd do zero damage. There's mods that remove the spears' close range limitation. Then the spearmen perform about as well as they would with their secondaries, ie. the spears damage is kinda crap, but the range seems to make up for it. Removing the close-range stab fail AND increasing spear damage on top of that seems to make spears the dominant weapon; Battanian Oathsworn with their pikes beat even Legionaries on a 1:1 ratio.
@@foreignfat6009 Nah, the best irl weapon are ranged: crossbows, longbows, throwing weapons or just simple slings. Even if the volley doesn't kill the enemy, they'd still be weighted down and hurt by the projectiles stuck in their shields and body, or disorganized.
@@anhnguyenhoang210 Really? First, throwing weapons were always ass. Just because in games they are strong, doesnt mean they werent shit irl. Only good for making shields way harder to use in actuall combat. Second. Then cavalry is just best. Any range regiment gets decimated by cavalry charge.
Can a cavalry unit at only half of its original strength after taking volleys after volleys of arrows/bolts really "decimate" ranged regiments? And don't even get me started on gunpowder.
Line breaker very good, but my mass valerian sharpshooter combined with my lance knights, I only need a few inf to protect my crossbow men, who are tough in melee as well.
I'm eating my own hands at the rage of how close the Menavliaton and Veteran Falxman battles went. Horrendous performance in my opinion. The Heroic Line Breakers went under my expectations, I hope the Heavy Axeman case didn't happen to them. Sturgian shield infantry got horrendously nerfed, at least please keep the shock troops in their place.
Actually, compared to my results with the same series from almost two years ago and now, sturgian shield infantry got a huge buff, and so did the sturgian heroic line breaker as the unit actually has the best K/D ratio against one handed units, even if they mostly lose to other two handed units.
@@DestroyerOfOgis In my opinion Sturgia SHOULD have the best Infantry in general. Most of the Factions have something they specialize that is superior to all others except for the Empire which feels like Strong at everything but not best but also easy to mass produce. Sturgia feels to this day like they still have nothing they are the best at.
Seem like when it comes to 2 handed units as long as they from the same tier whoever has the weapon with the most reach wins or at least has a big advantage
dont care about what anyones definition say, if you enjoy a good long wooden stick with a heavy metal bit at the end and swinging it around, you are a man sir.
I ways wonder if it's best to have these kinds of vanguard/ two-hander troops mixed in to your shield-wielding infantry formation, OR have these vanguard troops all in one separate unit to be used as a secondary flanking/ pincer force complementing your main infantry block?
There is a way, you can separate infantry with throwing weapons and shielded, most of two handed have throwing weapons. Even if you shielded infantry also has throwing weapons, it will be placed first in shielded formation so it will not suck against arrows. I use this all the time with sturgia, one formation for enduring arrow shower and second formation reinforcement for melee combat when first reached opponent.

Basically anything works, doesn't matter, as long as they're t5 or t6, they're good enough for your warband

Amasing work.
Seems like I underestimates Voulgiers
Wasn’t expecting the falxman to win
Yea its surprising but the Battanians actually have the best Infantry for the open field. Sturgian infantry only has the advantage in sieges.

Menavlion is the most dangerous infantry unit imo
So true. Everytime I'm on foot or on horseback fighting empire troops I always have to be wary. They are fast and do a lot of damage.
The only dangerous Empire troop, the rest are horde.
No, those would be weapons 🙂
True

I don’t know, little bit long time not plays, but not sturgian line breakers better than aserai mameluke palace Guard?
when did they add mace men? also merry christmas
They removed the hired blade and added new Merc troops right before full release.
Do they ever use their swords? Or is that just for flavor? Maybe they can pick up a shield and draw their sword, but I don’t think that ever happens.
no they never do
Ok... Imperial legionary is absolutely insane. They supposed to be countered and their KDA is 1.5. That is impressive
i think menavliaton are totally unbalanced realistically speaking, a meaulion is a pike, why would you swing a pike?
Still, everyone gets defeated by the Battanians falxes and rhomphaias.
You definitely swing a pike. It just isnt as effective.

How do you set this up for testing?
Do you use a mod for this or how do you set the battle up
Rts camera and enhanced battle test, both mods are very outdated now
