The Boston Dynamics robot will eventually be remote controlled. There is no reason to try to embed intelligence in it; much easier to be controlled by a human.

Incorrect, it's gait is due to the fact that this robot is statically stable. It has static stability because there is a robot pilot onboard. For reference, ASIMO is a static stable bi-pedal robot, as in, it can stop at any point during it's gait... The real trick is transitioning from static stable walking to non-static-stable walking / running...
Am no robotics engineer but why dont they just put a counter balance weight on the back. So when it lifts the right leg or vise versa, it shifts the wait over to the opposite side. This would stop the horrible rocking motion when its walking. The machine could stand on one leg with out falling over, with the weight shifted over to opposite side.
Or throw a few reaction wheels in there.

I wonder why they have the shoulders mounted so high. Putting the arms below the cockpit would allow it to reach the floor without having to bend over, and the lower center of gravity would make it more stable.

Those shoulders look rather delicate if it ever falls over... not a problem in this testing setup with the safety ropes, but I don't think it will be taking over the world anytime soon.

If I were on the team I'd suggest retractable skate wheels in the feet for fast mobility on smooth surfaces, using a slightly spread legged posture, with one foot ahead, one back. The hip swivel joints could use more range.

BOSTON DYNAMICS didn't share their tech to the Koreans , they still suspended that bot to a cable while Boston's robot are doing parkour .
I can't wait till 10 years from now when this thing is way more advanced. If it could one day competently walk, run and bend over to pick stuff up it may actually have some cool uses. In the far future though

Best place to put piwer packs is in lower legs area but why is it necessary to send a spaceship far beyond earth, why what's out there? But this has alreadyvbeen done w/spaceship to pluto n others still traveling out there. Well i have seen a design that has a machine gun and when the pilot smiles it will do rapid fire and that skill is called "THE SMILESHOT" i think
Unfortunately, it has to be tethered to an overhead crane, because it isn't very stable. Look at what Boston Dynamics is building. It's far for advanced, and doesn't need a driver.
All it needs is a stable power source, faster movement, durable material to make sure it can take a hit in case of accidents caused by human error or mechanical failure and it's good to go.
It's going to have a heck of a time picking up stuff off the ground.

This is from the Avatar movie. Not the Airbender one, the planet with blue aliens as humans one. If this was Titanfall, it would have been MUCH thicker, the armour. Because if you look at titans, they have LOTS of metal plating on, this one doesn't.

Robo voice fail ....you guys that use these voices really need to look at what you are saying. Just cutting out text and pasting it to a text to speech engine doesnt work. For example in this clip it confused m for meters instead of millions
Two legged robots are not the future for warfare.Imagine RPG hits a robot like this.It would be so hard to carry sufficent armour as well.Maybe later when RPG kind of threats has counter measures it may be usable for war.Till that time Boston dynamics type small robots will rule.
