Hey guys, I realized that I forgot to mention how loud these units are. They are both extremely quiet. You can barely hear either one of the units, which is why I forgot to mention it in the video. If I had to say which one is louder, I would say that the Duraflame unit it louder, but only because you can hear it cycling on and off as it reaches your desired temperature. I got the Duraflame unit and it is beautiful. The flame is realistic. It has its own auto shut off sensor if the plug gets hot. Heat output is no problem for my apt room. I will say that having the heater on the bottom is still preferred. All my other electric stove heaters had bottom heaters.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. The Duraflame unit is really beautiful and it did have the built in safety feature. The largest factor for us was the heat coming from the bottom. I am glad you have something that you love. Thanks for watching and posting.
We use the Duraflame to heat a 16x20' room, our den area, and it works great! Keeps room toasty warm even with out recent -4° temps. To each their own

I've only just begun looking for a heater this year. I keep a small oil filled radiator style heater in my bedroom/office for the cat to curl up near, and have been using one of those infrared wooden box heaters under the kitchen table. Both do the trick for the space they're in, but I've been wondering about these freestanding fake wood stove heaters for my great room. It's a combo kitchen, dining, living room, vaulted ceiling room I use for entertaining, and musical pot-lucks. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble. I say all that to say this: I appreciate this video. Your attention to detail, and feature comparison gave me a new angle to view in my search. Thanks, and best of luck in raising your littles.

2 years later, just wondering if the same Akdy unit in your video is still working lile when purchased or if it has needed repair or had stopped working beyound repair.
I read a lot about how great these things are from people when they buy them but many brands flame effects fail or have reduced or no heat output within just months or a year after purchase.

Yes, that's a good point and one that I forgot to mention in the video. That said, for us, it was mostly about the heat coming from the bottom and the unit running continuously. Thanks for mentioning this and watching.

My rooms are carpeted. Is it safe placing the Akdy on a carpet?
Hello. There is roughly a 3 inch space from the heating area (at the bottom of the unit) and the base of the legs. In other words, it sits roughly 3 inches off of the ground. I would think that is far enough for it to be safe, but I would call AKDY to be sure and check what they recommend. If you do get an answer, would you post it here for others? you didnt mention if its cool to the touch...if my cat jumps on in or if i can place something on top?
Hello. Yes, it's completely cool to the touch unless someone touches the bottom grate where the heat comes out. You could place stuff on top of it or touch the swinging glass doors and they are completely cool to the touch. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

No, I don't think they are.
Do you know what type of lights? Is it the kind that has a scrolling backdrop?
Hello. I just looked it up for you. This is in the AKDY product description. It does have LED lights. It says 'Utilizing realistic logs as a fuel bed, this unit has dancing LED lights to mimic the lively flames.' Hope that helps. Thanks for posting.
