    For users of the Sony a6000, there are three conditions that need to be set simultaneously to shoot action sequences.
    They are:
    1) the focus mode needs to be set to AI-Servo.
    2) The Drive needs to be set to Continuous High
    3) The focus area must be set to "wide".
    With these three conditions met, the camera is free to do focus tracking. It will then select and track the item in the center of the screen, but may release should another item cross the focus area. In order to "lock" on one item, simply use the "Lock On Autofocus" mode, which will then hold the subject even as they cross the entire viewfinder screen, regardless of items crossing in front or not.

Almost returned a6000 coz i got frustrated using it first few days...until I saw your videos..now i am believer... if theres smart phones, sony just revolutionize the photography world and came up with these smart cameras. Now im just really focused on my images and my customers are really happy. Business is good!

    1) you are AF'ing on a white background. any camera can "track" like that. 2) show us the full shot sequence, i am willing to bet the a6000 misses many of those shots, despite "tracking" the subject. however you are shooting at f/4 on a APS-C. so some may be in focus considering that is like shooting at f/5.6 on my A99. I love my a6000, but the AF burst is SERIOUSLY overrated. 32 years of professional photography under my belt.

    • @quickcuts3000
      @quickcuts3000 9 лет назад +1

      i highly doubt "none" of the shots were missed and i publicly question your claims. of course its impossible for me to say for certain, because you still havent provided the sequence. also note, DoF here is extremely thick.

      I have pants under my belt, I'm telling you it's the best. I would be so cold right now without pants. I've used belts all my life, so I've had pants under them for longer than 32 years. With all those years of pants under my belt, I've got to say I couldn't be more impresses with the focus tracking. This question goes to the guy with no face, what kind of pants do you own?

      ***** I traded in my 7D for a a6000 this week. Shot my first paid event last night and was impressed. ISO performance isn't quite what I was hoping for but it as about half a stop or maybe even a full stop better than my 7D. I am using the sigma 30 and 60mm 2.8 lenses. For less than 1k invested it is a fantastic package. I really am wanting to see a comparison vs the 7D mkii as that is my next choice compared to this a6000

    Thanks Gary for your very useful tips. If you have the chance to provide feedback to Sony, please ask them to produce a 50-140mm f2.8 OSS lens, similar to the ones produced by Fuji and Olympus that produce terrific results. These lenses are only for APS-C but are faster than the 70-200mm f/4 produced for the Sony FF mirrorless cameras and are also lighter.

    Hi Gary, thank you for the interesting video. I am interested in buying the a6000 with the Sigma 30 and 60 prime lenses. There seems to be alot of confusion whether or not those DN lenses from Sigma can do PDAF (phase detection auto focus) or not, or just in the center area. So this setup you are demonstrating here would not work unfortunately with the Sigma primes. Can you elaborate on this eventually?
    Kind regards and thank you for the ongoing educative videos.

      Many users have reported two problems on this camera. 1. Picture is soft and 2. Difficult focusing in low light. Many users buy this camera because of its fast focus and low price. If Fuji XE-2 has a lower price, probably people will go for Fuji XE-2. Is it possible to shoot the sharp picture and focusing fast in low light or it is hard for this camera? Can you show the tips in setting and answer user's questions about soft picture and slow focusing in low light in dpreview Sony E mount forum?

    • @GaryfongInc
      @GaryfongInc  7 лет назад

      It good be that the camera then detects another object to focus on, especially if you're photographing a high contrast or back lit scene. Try experimenting with the other focus area or the object tracking function to see if that improves the camera's ability to focus on your subject.

    • @zoso20
      @zoso20 7 лет назад

      I tried with the object tracking function and the other focus area, center, spot... I tried to change the background, a uniform floor with a blue ball..It seems like the cámara detects the object well (appears the green squares following the object) but the lens doesn't follow the focus... Do you test the function with the kit lens? What lens did you use in the video?
