      Nope. The only TMNT figures I get are NECA's Mirage comics ones. If Playmates did a TMNT Origins line, in the same vein as MOTU Origins, I would definitely collect them.

    I'm running out of room, so the day is coming when all my boxed TMNT Ultimates will have to be opened, and it's these exact QC issues that make me apprehensive.

      I have also started opening my figures for the same reason. I bought the six core figures this summer: the 4 Turtles, Shredder and Splinter.

  • @jamievaughn1485
    @jamievaughn1485 8 месяцев назад +31

    At one time I had all the waves up through 5, but after those turned out so badly, I sold them off and now only buy the NECA toon sets. I did this because time after time Super 7 seems to not have a solid template for their builds. Loose hands, legs, hands that don't hold their weapons well, I could go on. Some of their figures are really nice, then many others are not. Their problem is in their consistency. I currently have both Waves of their GIJOEs and sure enough Wave 2 had unpainted heads. If Wave 3 doesn't fix this it will be the last Super 7 anything I buy. I am interested in their O-Ring as those might come out okay, but their larger figures have been hit or miss, and for what they are asking it is just too much. I collect 3rd Party Transformers from Newage and MagicSqaure, small companies who design and make amazingly painted and well made figures for less than what Super 7 charges for giant figures that have less articulation and constant QC problems. I want them to do better, but at this point they don't seem to be learning or getting better.

    • @mikeledger2614
      @mikeledger2614 8 месяцев назад +2

      Sadly same story here and a lot of other people. The massive discounts on the figures is a sign. It’s a shame. I can’t understand how they messed up so much with their whole business model. They have all the time and money ahead of production to work it out.

    • @jamievaughn1485
      @jamievaughn1485 8 месяцев назад

      @@mikeledger2614 That's what gets me, is they can do better and sometimes do, but mostly they fall back into making crappy decisions on character selection and their plastic seems to get worse with each wave.

      and honestly they did it a bit better than Mattel in MOTU Classics that one time:
      Bc they did a Comic Book First Appearances 3 pack (well actually that was Super7 so not Mattel, Super7) and they had such loose loose joints, but for their unreleased vintage 3 pack they had such tight tight joints. so points to Super7 for better tightening their joints!

    I’ve stopped picking up Super 7 altogether, with the exception of the occasional Reaction figure (which I leave in the packaging). Their toys are too expensive - but look cheap! And I always have loose joints or trouble with the accessories, so I’ve given up on them. Plenty of other lines out there vying for my dollar.

  • @joehodgson9217

    These definitely turned out better than that Samurai Leo wave. I only got Raph and Rocksteady, but I may go back for Genghis. Raph's goggles are tight. I had to heat them up to get a good fit, but at least that's an easy fix. My one major nit to pick with that figure is he's just too slim. He should be chunkier since he's a turtle in a space suit. Also, his elbows barely move. Love the Robotic Rocksteady though, it might be my new favorite in the line. The wrists are a bit loose, but that's my only real gripe. I also plugged that laser sword into the red arm canon which gives it a cool flamethrower look. Just a fun figure to mess around with. If those Silverhawks that are vac metal turn out well it wouldn't shock me if Super7 tries to do a vac metal edition of both Robotic Bebop and Rocksteady.

  • @Popstalgia

    Honestly pretty impressed with this wave! So far I’ve picked up 1-2 from each wave so far, and for the wave 6 I am definitely going to pick up Space Cadet Raph and Robo Rocksteady, and thinking about Shredder if he goes on sale. Ghengis looks really well done and a cool figure, but I have no connection to that character. Hoping they can really turn things around from wave 4 cause my Sewer Samuri Leo was pretty disappointing.

    I've been really hard on S7 in the past. These actually look nice. Some debatable choices like the ratchet-joints. They have pro's & cons.
    Genghis looked freaky. But so did the vintage figure. The tongue looks great. The eyes look really pale, but that light be lighting/camera playing tricks.
    Love the little alien dude. I'll give them a point for trying something extra with the goggles. Just didn't work out to well. But ok, they tried.
    Shame about Rocksteady's hands. Otherwise looks good.
    If they keep this up acros the board, I might have to reconsider my opinion.

    That Krang wave had many of my favorite characters, and every single one had no leg strength at all. Leatherhead can't stand without using his shotgun to lean on, or he flops over under his own weight. Same with krang (even worse), and Ray Fillet starts doing the splits if I'm not careful. But it's weird, the waves before and after have been fine for me, so that one specific wave just had some catastrophic QC issues from the factory somehow.

    Wish someone would ask Brian when they are talking to him in videos about the earlier waves in The Worst, GI Joe, and Turtles QA issues. I'd love to know what happened and what is being done to address them. These are spendy figures so having lower articulation figures that can't stand is really disappointing. Right now I can only recommend Super7 Ultimates if the buyer plans to keep them in package for display.

    I love Super7, but I don’t think Ultimates-level articulation is in their wheelhouse. I think they got into MOTU with the idea that they’d do 5.5” Retros. But, coming off of Classics, fans wanted more of that, so they’re like, “Sure we can do that.” They’ve done their best, they just don’t seem very good at it. I’ve had two Ultimates and I’ve been disappointed with both. If you like these, I hope they get the hang of it before you decide they’re too expensive.

    Playmates really need to step up their game, as their TMNT toys have been seriously lacking lately, especially when compared to their competitors. Instead of doing poor quality reissues of the old TMNT figures, they should be following Mattel's lead by making a super articulated line based on the original 80s toys (just like Mattel's Masters of The Universe Origins).

    PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! I really hope they DON"T start to vac metal these figures. Vac Metal cheapens the figure, makes the figure more fragile and more prone to breaking. It causes the figure to be overly shiny to the point that it looks really un natural and because the figure is so shiny, it gives off a distorted look hiding the beautiful detail of its sculpt. Lets not be so overly nostalgic where we latch on to bad ideas. Vac metalizing toys is a bad idea.

    I got the Space Cadet Raph and I gotta say, worst figure of the year. I only have the core four Turtles from Super 7 and absolutely loved then, but Space Cadet Raph just . . . sucks. The lack of elbow articulation, the visor that doesn't fit, the tiny sword (which was one of my favorite accessories when I was a kid too), and my alternate head will NOT go over that neck peg. It just really brings down the quality of this figure down for me. Great freaking sculpt, though.
