If you're still reading this thanks for watching.
Majority of the ppl who comment negativity have no real feedback about the sundown sa8. The cameras won't do it justice. Nice setup keep it thumpin bro
I went from a single sa-8 to a single kicker l7 15" now back to the 8" until I sell the 15 and get two 12s. sundows are built extremely well
hondarider27 single sa-8 sounded better than single kicker L7 15”?
AMBASSSIDOR no... I have a l7 15 there's no way
Lol don’t let kicker fool you with the MoAr SuRfAcE aReA nonsense. 99% of subs on the market are circles for a reason. Sound waves. Quality over quantity. People still don’t understand what these companies have done with 6.5/8” subs. 800 rms on a 8” is unheard of to the old time bass heads
Thank you so much I have the same sub and I blew it in less than a year and a half. Won’t buy kickers again.
sik man. ive had 2 of these in the living room i use with my surround sound. tuned to 33 hz wired at i believe 4 ohms final on a crown xls2500. their only getting 750watts but they knock shit off the tables. lovem
Ephixa brings me back, man.
Same! Haven’t heard this in years!
Thats impressive for 8's. Sundown is badass
I have 2 SA 8s now and holy shit I am WAY impressed from my 12" SA on 1500w both SAs 8s I have are seeing about 900 and I putting more at them :)!!!
The 12's were awesome. I only had them on 1200 watts, but they smashed! I'll probably do more when I have the money
Just wanted to tell u I got one of my other 8s in the mail and although it doesn't bottom out it still didn't sound right. So as a last ditch effort I went to lowes and got a 24" section of 3" diameter PVC and sealed purge box and put it in... Wow. Honestly if uv got the space try an aero port, it's ridiculously loud, low, and clean. FINALLY!
@TitsandFish84 RMS power and peak power are 2 different things. 600 watts is higher than the rms power for the sa-8, but the sa-15 is rated for 600 rms. a lot of it depends on the box size as well. the more power you put into the subs, the smaller the box you need to achieve big sound, and the opposite goes for less power... bigger box and you can still do some big sound. I was running this setup under peak power, but above rms. your friend is doing the same. different subs, different ratings.
@94jettameowpsst A bigger box will definitely help and tuning goes a long way as well. The biggest misconception with these 8's are that people think because they can handle a good amount of power, they will have a massive output. While they do better with more power, they simply wont have the same output as a 10 or 12 would. Thats why most of the people who run these for big output pair them with passive radiators to extend the frequency response. They wont hit like a 15, but they still hit.
They rock. I bet the smaller the car the better. They sounded great in my Jeep.
@MrBeatahalic Does your "experience" allow you to see through MDF? As it says in the video description there is port in the back of the box. The interior of each chamber is 10h X 11w X 10d and there is 7 inches of port behind that. The port looks like a T.
@Gunnedslingers1 The battery is good, but I would get a bigger one if I were to buy one again. This one only lasts for about a week of daily use before it needs to be charged again. The battery in the rear just needs to be grounded to the car somewhere. Running a ground to the front would be a waste of wire because the front battery is grounded to the car as well.
@DBbyDesign right, and typically the larger the box, the lower tuned the box is... but that all has to do with port length as well. so there are a lot of variables at hand, but its all relative.
@coloraveo more often then not its just merely tuning that will do in a sub, within reason a bigger box only means more efficient.
looks awesome 8's subys. Sounds great for that size ;)
Awesome, love it! Got me thinking about going with 2 SA8s in my civic.
The flexing is awe 💪🏻💪🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@squidduck You can put them in a sealed box, but its not recommended. If you're going to put them in a sealed box, I would keep around 1cf per sub.
@907tacokid I fiberglassed the entire inside of the box. I didn't want to carpet or put anything on the outside unless it was fiberglass because it would eat up the spl. I didn't own this build long enough to paint the box.
2:57 looks like paul walker's brother
hahaha yeah
you got a good eye man
the fatter version.. and paul walker does have a twin that took over the beach scene in ff7
Jesus! Thats what a shops putting in my car? I was team orion and always like sundown so decided to give these a try to save space..... was a gooood damn choice i see. Nice set bruh
@TitsandFish84 In addition to that, running lots of power on oversized boxes will produce big sound as well, but you have a much higher chance of damaging your subwoofer, requiring a recone
I've been meaning to test it w a dmm but haven't had time w school and whatnot. I ordered 2 more for her car that will be here tomorrow so we'll see how they sound. And wow yea I don't even have to bump it hard and the thing instantly heats up, has done it since I got it....but my kickers smelled awful for 3 months before they stopped stinking
A few retailers online offer them officially. You may find a local dealer that sells them.
A google search should turn up all the options for you.
these are made for high excursion not your typical 8's. nice vid.
Holy hell. I just found a pair on eBay for $300 and was considering buying them because they seem like amazing quality.
That's wasup! Repping NOTW alll day, I love it. It's good to see fellow brothers in Christ who are into audio. You should make a video playing This'l- Signed up to die, or PRo-Murked, or PRo-116 anthem.
Damn dude that hitting hard for 8's . Have you gotten metered? I just got a 97 jeep . Il be moving my setup to it and by the looks of yours it seems like they get real loud
@reaceiscool You can still compete with 8's, not many people do it because they dont know how to do it right. Jacob Fuller, the owner of sundown did a 152.3 with one of these subs on 3500 watts and a sealed box. its all about application.
@MK3SUPRA11 It says in the video description. each side is ~.6 cubes or 1.2 cubes cumulative. All that space comes from the 48 inches of port in the back.
Yeah I was thinking of finding somewhere local I could see a set in person. I really want to try and get a set when I convert my truck from a 3 seat bench to 2 buckets.
DAMN THATS NICE BASS GREAT WORK PS I LOVE XS POWER GREAT JOB DOOD !!!!!!!!!!
they are 8 inch in diameter but have a 6" cone area due to the fat surround, but it has good excursion due to the surround. i have to say that is impressive
@94jettameowpsst I would say for that amount of power you will be fine and wont reach the point where you're going to be getting mechanical noise because you're not hitting RMS. I would say your box is a little small for the amount of power you're running on it. Since you're not even hitting RMS power you would probably be safe going to a 1 - 1.5 cf box. I never noticed any bottoming out on frequencies above 20hz. But if you put it in a bigger box it would definitely produce more sound.
@94jettameowpsst the enclosure is half the battle. Awesome subs with a crappy box is worthless. Glad you got it fixed bro! I would love to see a vid! Thanks for watching.
FUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEEEEEEEEEES Ive been using some wobbles to demo subs since it came out... but Ive seen NO ONE ELSE use that song... Its a legit banger.
cone area = frequency response. Its up to you and what you can fit.
@speakerlover13 The battery up front is from walmart. Its on my list of things to replace when I have the money. The extra battery does help a bit though something this small doesn't have much of an effect on idle voltage. It does well when the engine is helping to charge it when I'm driving. It usually lasts for about a week or two daily on a charge. I ruined my d680 however when I moved and let it sit dead for a few months. All I gotta say is keep it charged and its a good little battery.
I like the setup.Sundown 8" subwoofers be bumping
"oi man your phones ringing!". "Wait don't worry, forgot the music was on".
you think they are worth the 300 for both and money for the box? i dont have a big car, smaller 4 door, thinking of getting em
Cant go wrong for some all around clean bass.
@coloraveo I'll post a video when I get everything done. Should be by this summer.
Nice setup bro. Gotta love that 4 inch excursion.
Hey man nice sound! I really want to get a similar set up as what you got. Is there any way I can get the dimensions you used to build your box. Thanks
see i have the sa-12 and they only rec 1 ft of airspace in a sealed box and i think 1.5 for ported but if im not mistaken the 8s are .5 in sealed and 1 in ported but i could be wrong and the airspace rec. is comeing from sundowns website its not what alot of people use tho
MAKE ME A BOX MAN!!! It would sort of be a " look at the insane workmanship i did for this guy " kind of thing. Think about it... I have some change I can spend.
is there 1200w to each sub? or is it split to 600w each? how are they wired?
Higher frequency bass doesn't move it as much. Check out my 12's move it with ease in one of my newer videos.
I think i go this one for around 120. Batteries are better if your alternator is hard to get to to change, but you also have to charge the batteries if your alt cant keep up.
Haha I play that same song Througg my alpine 10's all the time, always sounds great And makes my eyes water
does the extra battery put more or less strain on the alternator?
2 12" SAs is louder then 2 8" if you put the right amount of power to the 12s ??
@coloraveo i built a .89 cu ft box for it last night after my last comment and it sounds 110% different/better. Takes all 500w rms...i have 2 l7 15s @ 2665rms...so thats my only comparison haha :), however her 1 8 definitely sounds like a 12. Thanks for the advice!!
will these work in a sealed box??? or are they pretty much for a ported box only?
I dont know what a regular camaro box is or dimensions. Couldnt tell you
I haven't compared the two, but XS definitely does the job!
Ephixa FTW
2:25 is that normal? or this destroy the subwoofer?
@speakerlover13 Forgot to mention I have a 200A alt and the big 3 done. So that prolly helps. But I don't think that bat. can do it alone.
@jerseyguy316 I'm not sure off hand but it's on jvcs website as a new model, that's the 2011 top of the line bs or whatever....sounds pretty decent in person for having no amplification of mids/highs
My friend had 2 sundown 8's huge magnet 1500w with Skar amp hits hard
Nice set up Brian keep up the good work cheers i got 4 jlw7 8s for like almost 3 years now and 3500 shark never got around to install lol
I like the control layout of that head unit. What is it?
@MrAlexjames94 I would only recommend putting it in a 1 cubic foot box, (12x12x12) interior. These subs really arent meant for sealed enclosures though.
about how deep is the mounting depth on these puppies. i cant seem to find that info. i need around 5 inches.
Sundown SA or Soundstream T7 ?
What would you guys do?
@MK3SUPRA11 I dont have this build any more, my next design will probably include 4 of the new v.2's with 4 x 4" aero ports tuned to 32 hz.
very clean set up ...nice camera toooo
Updated the video info to answer all your questions. Hopefully there will be no more confusion. Thanks for watching.
@coloraveo do you know what the displacement of the woofer is?? like mayb .10
Are you running a battery isolator in between your batteries?
Its good if you have a newer generation ipod. I have mine running on a 1g ipod touch and it kinda lags.
@94jettameowpsst There should definitely be no smell when breaking them in. And hot to the touch it sounds like a blown coil. After this demo vid, my subs werent even warm. Maybe theyll replace it if theres a bad coil. Have you tried to measure it with an ohm meter?
Any chance i could get the blueprints for that box?
Que volumen interno maneja su caja por favor y el tamaño del port, saludos. Tengo unos bajos Sound Doun SA 8 V.3 D4
What are the specs for the box ? I have the same subs and I need to desight a box
Nice Kenwood!!! I have KIV-700 - I like this!
seen too many videos of sa-8. going to get one for a custom 2.1 pc setup! what is that amp putting out @ 2ohm per channel? reckon its enough power for an 8?
@coloraveo how many watts are those? im looking for compact but loud subs to put in my truck. and those deff fit the loud bit.
Very nice. Can't wait to get my 2 sa-8 v2 running on a bd1500 at 2ohms, 2.3cu ft at 33hz.
@kingzakrunk Thanks bro. I cleaned up the wiring and setup in my 2nd demo. The camera is a Flip Video Mino HD
If commissioned, can you build me a box like yours?
not in the least! I wonder what the v.2's are like.
What model head unit is that? I found one very similar for $70 at a pawn shop. Do you like how it sounds?
what does it sound like from across the street?
What is the height and depth of this box I’m limited on space with my convertible camaro and trying to avoid the shallow mount 12s route I have about 16” of clearance and about 12” of height in my car.
I have a set of the sd 12 v2 and they hit just as hard if not harder. I dont know the specs on the box. It's been so long.
word, 8" sub users represent!
Fixing to get these subs, I'm currently running the mojo 8" on a 2k audiopipe hits like 12s
what do you use to edit videos?
What rs ohms are you at, have you tested it with a ohm meter ? Jw of your really under 1ohm it'd be pulling more than 1200 then just trying to see what they can take
hey you only have one sa8? i just bought one v2 d4 4ohm what amp you running it on?
@squidduck you can have them in eather! check there site! they give recomendations on both! box size for ported and box size for sealed!
These are awesome subs. The v.2s are even better. Get those!
Nice, really nice setup... Awesome performance from those 8''
Nicely done. I have 2 sa8’s with an SFB-1000 and it is very underwhelming. Yours looks like it hits much harder than mine. Not sure wtf is going on
Damn I feel like your setup is louder than mine. Im running 3 SA 8s on a Lanzar Opti2000 amp.. 2000W rms @ .5 ohms. Subs are wired to .67 ohms (in reality .8, I measured). I need a battery.
@coloraveo hey man i just got my SA-8 in the mail (D4) I was wondering if you still remembered the dimensions to the box you made, i was thinking your system sounded great and maybe i could just cut that box you made in half spec wise and i would do ok with it powering it with 550 watts, thank you
@coloraveo i just got 1 for my gf's car..box is .65 after sub and a jl 500.1 amp. do these subs bottom out for you or make some mechanical sounds during low bass?? Im talking 250 watts or less, idk it seems to have too much xmax for as little sound it puts out
@MrAlexjames94 nvm i kept watching =P haha but now i have a new question, do you have any idea what a sealed box size would be for one of these little devils?
I got sa-12's as my setup now. not a bad sub in the right enclosure.
