Another great and thorough review Captain!
This looks like a good buy for a tenner, I hope someone can check or improve the checklists in the near future.

You can really see the Lineage of the Shorts Boxy liners. The layout of the switches and panels is so much like those of the S 330 and 360. I rather like this add on, and it is neat having the spiritual predecessor of the Shorts regional (boxy) liners. I start this in the start position with the power lever closed, and have had no issues. They have modeled the Garett Air Research engines and sounds quite well, though the ungodly howl of those engines is lacking (perhaps thankfully). For taxi the condition levers in Taxi help stop this model running away. Oh, reverse thrust is fun for backing away from the stand. I like the mismatched torque gauges. On the ceiling there are all sorts of performance charts with torque settings, and EGTs, this is how the actual aircraft is done too. The skyvan is capable of landing on a field of 1800ft fully loaded. The shut down sounds sounds so much like the shut down of the Garett Air Research engines. This model has a bit of a twitchy on the pitch, but being so short that may be how the real thing is. I like the system fidelity as well. I do wish there was more of a checklist.

I dare you to take the Cessna 310R to St. Barth. Not a forgiving airplane when slow, nor one which brakes can work out any kind of magic... most of my attempts ended up either in the air or in the water 😅

    So cute!
Nice pick of landing airport, I struggle with good landings there.
Fond memories of Skyvan. We had service and handling of Air Executive Skyvan.
Fun to watch pax when they realized the aircraft they should fly with. - A woman assumed this was the bus out to the real aircraft, she panicked when engines started up. She ran out, almost hit the propeller. Then ran back to get the coat she forgot. Again very close to the propeller. Lucky a traffic assistant was able to stop her at this point.
Impressed with cargo capacity. With exhaust section removed, we shoe horned in a jt8d engine (for B737-200).
No purchase for me, flying the Dukes package now. And it is very similar to both Tecnam I own

Using the Skyvan in Onair Company for cargo. The reverse thrust seems kinda op. you're totally right about the fast loss of airspeed and altitude. takes a min to get used to.

Blimey I have at least 30 aeroplanes and widdled it down to my top 12 and misc 4 and another 4 for sometime so think I'm good

That cockpit looks so much better than the Blackbox Sim Shorts 360 / Sherpa ones. I will wish Blackbox would hire someone who can deliver quality like that instead of going with the cartoon look.

Instantly this has become my favourite aircraft in the game.
Handling can be challenging, it flies like it looks and theres enough system depth to make it very immersive, without having to spend 40 minutes on the runway prepping. Flying with a full load in wet weather really felt like I was there.
I'll be putting many hours into this.

  • @Karibanu
    @Karibanu 3 месяца назад +1

At least it has functional LP cocks, which is more than I can persuade Blackbox to fit to the 330 :p. I'm glad there's a turboprop that actually slows down when you close the throttles, so many don't. Does it have a ground throttle stop? I can't remember what the 330/360 one is called ( Ground *word* ) but it should set the prop pitch to completely neutral ( also a big thing missing from the BBX Shorts ). One thing Blackbox managed was to make full beta convincing, rather than like dropping an anchor ( plus the ground handling on those is very nice ).
Outside sounds are really bad :( inside texturing is ... not great, either. I get it's meant to be cheap but it seems there's more and more of these half-hearted efforts coming & rather less works of art these days. Can certainly judge a product on how feature rich it is for the price, but absolutely shouldn't be judging the flight model - either it's good or it isn't, doesn't matter what it costs.

I pretty much agree with all of that, RD.
As usual, it would be nice if we could get a BB / iniBuilds hybrid and take the strengths from each addon (though overall, I vastly prefer the Black Box version). The aircraft certainly slows down though, “falling out of the sky”, might have been a more accurate description haha. I’m afraid, I’ve no idea re the ground stop.
I must admit, I’m getting a little bit tired of mediocre addons myself. In many respects, I’d have been very excited for a C46 but, I’m not sure I can be bothered to go through the rigmarole of reviewing the addon, when I know that Aeroplane Heaven / Asobo aren’t gong to have given us anything special (so, I’ll just go blasting around in an SR-71 instead haha).
I know we won’t agree but, when it comes to flight models, I think there’s a difference between accurate, pleasant / good and terrible. For sure though, you don’t want an addon that falls into the latter category, no matter what it costs. . .
      Cheers sir! : )

Appreciate the video. In my view, the overall take away is, you get what you pay for. No thrills get you from point A to point B. For me, I'll do a hard pass. I am not high on inbuilds aircraft. They are very shallow add-ons. I bought the MU2, which is one of my favorite aircraft of all time, and tried to work with it. But sadly, my biggest gripe is not having a GTN 750 or 650 for aircraft Navigation. And because of that, I don't fly it anymore. You start to ask yourself, why am I flying this? When there are far better and more robust products out there to fly. Granted, it was only $9.99 at the time. But that's inbuilds for you. You get what you pay for. I'm one of those desktop aviators that if you give me a High fidelity product that it costs $80 or so, I'm cool with that. Or at least an additional DLC to enhance the product to make it a more robust Add on. These addon developers just haven't figured it out. Anyway, I can rant on and on. Cheers to you, Sir. Again, great video, as always. Looking forward one day seeing your videos over on Rumble. Cheers

The Pink Skyvans visit our home airport (with a small 430m Runway) for a skydiving event. I love that plane, the sound is very unique. Sadly this isn’t in the sim version, but it might very well be the different propeller. Overall I’m happy with the Ini version from what I’ve seen so far (I couldn’t try it yet) and I’ll get it. The only thing that bothers me is the gps selection, I’d love that thing with either a 430 or a 750.

Surely a prudent precaution in case something went terribly awry....wait!...what's that?!.....Oh Dear God, they're not planning to jump out of a perfectly good airplane??

For $10 it seems decent enough, not quite the same level as its bigger brother in the 340/360 though. What does the tablet do on the left? It looks like the Inibuilds tablet, so some sort of customisation to the cockpit/cabin? Sounds seem a bit weak at points, checklist sounds unfinished. The window tint seems a little aggressive, but could be accurate?

One suggestion, the replays could be from an angle as you'd see standing on the ground or as if a camera was fixed to the aircraft? That would be interesting to see :)

Now you can fly a Skyvan virtually in MSFS. As always, this video from Into the Blue Simulations is not lacking in perfection. And visually it is perhaps one of his most beautiful. The Short SC.7 Skyvan is a British 19-seat twin-turboprop aircraft manufactured by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is used mainly for short-haul freight and skydiving. The Short 330 and Short 360 are stretched models of the original SC.7, designed as regional airliners. Skyvans served widely in both military and civilian operations, and the type remained in service in 2009 with a number of civilian operators, and in military service in Guyana and Oman. During the depths of Argentina's period of state terrorism 1977, around 4,400 prisoners were thrown into the Río de la Plata on "death flights" using this type of aircraft. Though such “death flights” by which thousands perished were routine during Argentina’s 1976-83 military dictatorship, many of their details remain unknown
