I've always thought that Renee Zellweger's British accent was too forced and slightly too 'try-hard'. I think that Robert Downey Jnr,. Rachel McAdams, Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart have all pulled off very good English accents... To the other commenter, Anthony -- no, Johnny Depp is definitely not British. He's American. He does, however, have some British ancestry in his genealogical family tree, by all accounts.
Was Keanu Reeves English accent in Dracula 1992 any good? I think not, I like Keanu but making him into an Englishman was a bit too much. My point is JD, he’s been one that has carried British accents beautifully, “The Libertine” and “Sleepy Hollow” comes to mind.
Huh?? Renee Z is not a good example of a bad British accent!! Brits hearing her for the first time thought she was British, were shocked she was American. So, you see, if the Brits like someone’s British accent, that means it’s a good one, not a bad one. She’s on the Depp team. So find a different American that actually does a bad British accent. I think maybe you meant Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. 😉

And here it is proven that Johnny has not only made chameleon films, he is actually very multifaceted, he is a tremendous actor who fully gets into the character. He definitely deserves an Oscar.
Him and Leonardo DiCaprio deserve more than one. Edit: there are plenty of movies where they should have received Oscars and they still deserve them. I remember when Leonardo finally got his first one and it was definitely well deserved. The revenant was amazing. However there are still a few movies better than the revenant and he should have received it from them.
The fact this guy is Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, and Jack Sparrow will forever blow my mind. All so starkly different, anyone who didn't know of Johnny Depp wouldn't have a clue they were the same person!
Who would've thought that Mr Johnny Depp had already been a versatile actor right from the very start. Not to mention that he literally slays every single role he portrays onscreen. His reputation as an actor may have been damaged before, but I know he's gonna be coming stronger as ever in the future if he's returning to starring in movies like he used to. It's such a shame that Ms Heard dragged this man down under.
His portrayal of these characters is so telling, a memorable social commentary with the Fantastic Beasts being really impressive despite his harrowing personal life. 👏 Well done, JD.
Johnny's acting skills are beyond brilliant but astonishing! His performances are legendary & unforgettable. The ability to portray so many different, yet, unique characters is pure talent. Gotta luv him! ❤
To see all his extremely DIFFERENT move roles put together like this makes you really realize just how insanely talented he is. I sure hope he continues making movies because it would be a shame to not continue to see this man's talent on the screen.
Look at the years these came out. This man needed one movie and literally started another one right after and was doing more than 1 at a time as well. And literally gave his all to each scene. I love him so much. And dear god, that man is GORGEOUS 🤤
Johnny Depp will forever be Gilbert Grape to me. That was the first movie I ever went and saw in theaters by myself without parents, making it the first movie I ever recognized him in along with Leonardo DiCaprio. After hearing him testify, talking about his life growing up poor in Appalachia (where I’ve grown up and seen the poverty he spoke about) that movie now hits a bit different with a rewatch. It doesn’t take place in Appalachia, but it does show a family growing up in in a rural Iowa town facing poverty. Depp’s character is basically the “man of the house” as a teen/young adult having to take care of everyone with a small town job at a grocery store. The mother is obese and bound to the house, unable to do much of anything, and it often embarrasses them. His character goes through the stress of trying to take care of everyone while trying to enjoy being his age. It’s a really good movie that often gets overlooked when people think of Depp because his “kooky” roles now outshine it, but I highly suggest people check out the movie if they ever get a chance and have never seen it before. It kinda’ sucks how his acting career has basically been cornered to “Jack Sparrow” or “weird guy in a Tim Burton movie” when the man has a whole catalog of movies that are just as great, if not better, with the skills to prove he can go beyond just that one certain typecast that the public seems to only know him as. Edit: also “Blow” is a fantastic movie. Another great one that shows his range concerning roles.
I was 7 and that was the first movie I vividly remember him in. It wasn't the one that sealed the deal (which was cry baby and Jack sparrow) but I remember really loving it (still do) because at that age, I was the "woman of the house" and doing everything while also trying to enjoy my childhood.
And to think, this is only the beginning! Nothing will be more beautiful than to witness this creative genius transmute & transcend all that toxicity & release the magic that has been suffocated for far too long. True legend.
He will always be remembered as one of the all time best actors...How can a human being be that attractive, cool, talented, funny, smart, humble, kind and many more at the same time...❤️
I just realised that he knowingly or not quoted his own characters at least twice durring his trial. He said „life is a bird’s song” and „Im obsessed with the truth”. Realy interesting lines
@@elenas3963 I thought the same! The quotes, the way he spoke, the stammering, the way he wiped his nose with his hand. I admit that as an actor I have never found him to be as excellent as Leonardo di Caprio can be, but now I have the doubt that there is very little acting in his characters. They tend to be similar to the real Depp at various stages of his life.
If you have watch enough interviews you will find all actors lives are intertwined in their roles. I live not far from San Saba, Texas where a very famous actor has a large ranch. He always plays a snarky smart ass, rough around the edges, dry humor, no time for people. Well that's him in a nut shell.
Wow, I've heard of him most of my life but never realized how many of these movies he was in. He changes so much for each character! As an actor myself, I must say, this is the portrait of a great actor!

Chocolat is a masterpiece that I recommend to anyone. However I am disappointed that the original 21 Jump street TV series isn't mentioned. Though he was in 4 out of 5 seasons it was and still is a great series. Worth a rewatch from time to time.
He revisited his role in recent 21 Jump Street (2012) so this character is technically mentioned. But I still think his role in original TV series is more worthy of mention.
The most brilliant actor ever. He is a part of my childhood with his lovely characters and still amazes me with his serious roles as well such a perfectly wonderful actor and amazing person .
now i gotta make a checklist of all his movies and start watching them because WOW. i knew he had diversity and range in his acting because he was EVERYWHERE growing up but to actually watch clips of his different characters really puts into perspective of the imprint johnny has made onto everyone watching.

JD is brilliant in nearly everything. Some of the movies themselves aren’t so great, or have issues (eg, the Lone Ranger), but his performance is generally worth sitting through the rest of the movie. My own favorites are Chocolat and Don Juan de Marco. He and Marlon Brando are just amazing, playing off each other in that film. Oh, and Fear and Loathing is such an amazing and wild ride. I’m really looking forward to his Beetlejuice performance!
Wow, a lot of these I wouldn’t have even know it was him, and not just because of the disguises of the character, but because of his entire embodiment of the role. His mannerisms, accents, expressions and vibes are all the things that make a good actor a great actor and he’s got the full package for sure. Cinema itself took a hard hit when he was no longer being cast for roles.
I'm not a movie buff. Many of these movies I would never watch, but wow what a range of characters he has portrayed. Some of them I would not have recognized him.
He is the best actor ever! Every movie of his that I watched, I was always amazed by him. You never doubt a second in his performance. Every line is followed with perfect face mimic. He is a genius. He is hilarious. He is perfect for drama, comedy, fantasy he can play it all.He has such sense for sarcasm that is unbelievable.
It’s really amazing how they can make him look so different in each movie and how he always brings his own notes into a character! He truly has a magnificent talent
Actors like Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, some others too, when you watch them in a movie, it's like they're just playing themselves. Johnny (amazing) Depp is an actor that just disappears into the characters he plays. Truly one of the greats!
That he can completely immerse himself into a character and you don't even know it's him..😱😱 I was amazed just seeing all the roles I've never seen before and thinking how if I wasn't given a "heads-up", I would have thought it was somebody else!❤️❤️

Wow...Johnny's growth of characters just build on themselves. He could've been a young heart-throb that cruised on his looks...but luckily he has the soul of creativity unbound by only one trick.
And Amber has the audacity to call him a sell out and treat him like such trash. The truth is all of Johnny’s talent combined she doesn’t even carry in her pinkie finger. She is the definition of a total psycho.
I already knew that johnny was a great talent but its just amazing to see how many fantastic movies he's been in. Donnie Brasco is one of the greatest mobster movies. Dead Man is another one of my favorites because i love Jim Jarmusch
Edward Scissorhands, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Chocolat, Alice in Wonderland, Fear and Loathing in LV, my favorites of the ones I’ve seen. I absolutely love this man. As Graham Norton said, “arguably the best character actor of our lifetime”. I wish him happiness in his future.
The amount of movies he did *between* the POTC saga and their diversity is insane. You can see he loved acting, he didn't depend on his mainstream roles and challenged himself with different characters that can be appreciated within a wide age range.
Oh but Johnny’s cognitive processing speed! I have always loved Johnny’s skill as an actor. Through his trial I learned so much more about him and I’m happy he is able to start to put this toxic time of his life behind him. As a recovering alcoholic/drug addict I hope he can keep find and sobriety.
The body of work is just amazing and the character we see before may have abused his own body but he is not capable of abusing any other person! Mic now drops!
He has accomplished unbelievably lot as an actor. Just all that is insanly lot of work! Besides that he has also had a life running outside that work, with all the tasks that comes with being a human. He work hard and with a huge heart for his success and life.
Gosh I had no idea of a number of these movies he’s done! Thank you to the maker of this compilation 🙏🏼 I’m going to have to do a binge watch of these 🤓 Such talent yet so humble is Johnny 🥰
He hides his suffering so well, truly a great actor and so unfortunate that this was the case for several years. In a more extreme example of this would be Judy Basari who played in land before time, and all dogs go to heaven, sweet and extremely talented little girl. People didn't start to catch on until it was beginning to be too late. Her mother selfishly sealed her fate at the hands of her father. She was so talented and adorable, that as a viewer, I had no clue

This is an awesome video, his charm and humor stands out every time. When he did 21 Jump St I was in 7th grade, so many girls in school loved him, but I thought he was just a pretty boy, then Edward Scissorhands and Benny and Joon came out, boy I was so wrong about him and I just loved him ever since..When he did the movie with Heath Ledger, and him Jud Law and Colin Ferrell all took over Heath Ledgers character because he passed during filming it was such a sad situation but all 3 of them gave their full pay to Michelle Williams and their daughter. Just an example of his compassion, all of their compassion. This is what I always thought him to be or when the young actress from the Whale Rider, Kesha Castel-Hughes, was up for an award at the Oscars her dream was to meet Johnny Depp and she got to before the award ceremony, he seemed more nervous and excited to meet her and she was very nervous and excited herself, it was so funny and adorable to watch..wow didn't mean to write much 😁
Wow, this was excellent to watch! I've never felt strongly one way or another about him, but after the trial I am a fan of his personality, and after this video, I'm realising how much everything about him changes from role to role. There are other 'great' actors who in my opinion normally just play another version of themselves, i.e. same mannerisms and cadences, etc. An example being Meryl Streep, who I do enjoy, but she always seems like Meryl Streep to me.
I'm so glad I saw this. This man is truly gifted and amazing! My wife and I had been binging a lot of Johnny Depp films in support of him and my goodness, that Minamata movie was so well done.

You're saying he doesn't have one still???
Him and Leonardo DiCaprio deserve more than one.
Edit: there are plenty of movies where they should have received Oscars and they still deserve them.
I remember when Leonardo finally got his first one and it was definitely well deserved. The revenant was amazing. However there are still a few movies better than the revenant and he should have received it from them.

So many decades of people grew up watching Johnny Depp! He’s such a versatile actor it’s crazy!
and your mom

He has won in the court of world wide public opinion. ...I can't help but watch the 2012-1016 movies and think poor bastard had that psycho

“I’m obsessed with the truth”. That’s what he said on the stand and now I see it’s a line from one of his movies.
Maybe, he added that in, the movie was around that time, he's always very involved in his movies.
And???? So what??? Unless is from his movies. He could use for real life

Ya know actors AD LIB ALL TIME. ESPECIALLY BRILLIANT ACTORS SUCH AS JOHNNY DEPP.
This man just never misses with any character he portrays. He is simply one of the greatest actors of all time.
I love what’s Eating Gilbert Grape! Great movie!
I was 7 and that was the first movie I vividly remember him in. It wasn't the one that sealed the deal (which was cry baby and Jack sparrow) but I remember really loving it (still do) because at that age, I was the "woman of the house" and doing everything while also trying to enjoy my childhood.
this is a wonderfully composed and compelling comment! I haven't seen Guilbert Grape but now I really want to! He is an incredible actor.
This is one of my favorite with Arizona dream and Benny and Joon 👋
Edward Scissor Hands and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape will always be my top favourite movies
He also whispered jar of dirt to his lawyer when amber was testifying about his jar of cocaine
Does it mean that he's acting during his testimony? Especially the last character from this video spoke exactly like JD in court.
@@barbedwire_lace2160 Tommy Lee Jones.
Its crazy to see him really turn into each character. Rlly cool to see how he brings a lot of himself into his roles
Wow, I've heard of him most of my life but never realized how many of these movies he was in. He changes so much for each character! As an actor myself, I must say, this is the portrait of a great actor!
I love that you included the one where he says “I’m obsessed with the truth” just like he said in the court room.
This kind of makes me sad. It shows just how old he has gotten. I need to meet him. Just have a conversation with him. He is so talented and just seems like such a sweet person. His acting range is crazy amazing and I would love to get some life advice from him
Don’t fret over age. Not everyone gets to be old. :)
He ages like a fine wine; he gets better and better over time. I'm not sure why this would be seen as a sad thing.
Agreed, my favorite Johnny Depp role. He’s so talented.
21 jump street is when I became a fan!
I loooove chocolat so much, I was surprised at how many people haven’t heard of it
Came here to say this. It was his breakout role.
He’s woven such a rich, eclectic and surprising tapestry of characters . A dazzling and compelling body of work .
Very, very well stated. ❤

The most brilliant actor ever. He is a part of my childhood with his lovely characters and still amazes me with his serious roles as well such a perfectly wonderful actor and amazing person .

Unbelievable how diverse he is. Such a talented actor.
The way he transforms into every character is such a gift. He'll always be one of the greats ❤❤
So sad his last movie was 2020, Hollywood better beg him to play roles again. I will definitely watch any movie he participates in now.
I think he has a new one where he plays a French King that is finished and hopefully coming out soon
now i gotta make a checklist of all his movies and start watching them because WOW. i knew he had diversity and range in his acting because he was EVERYWHERE growing up but to actually watch clips of his different characters really puts into perspective of the imprint johnny has made onto everyone watching.
I still haven't watched my DVD " The Libertine " - but will do it , soon - I love " THE BRAVE " - in the US it was not very liked - they did not like the message , which was very annoying to JD : in Europe that film is very respected !
You really do!!!

He is really a great versatile actor. Now that he has the support of public, he will be again showered with blockbuster movies.
The fact that he’d done a movie or two EVERY SINGLE YEAR…unparalleled.
He made 3 films in 1993! Insane!
I’ve never been so happy to have only seen 8 movies starring Johnny Depp. I could literally binge all of his movies that I haven’t seen yet instead of searching for a series to get overly attached to 😂🥴❤️. Had no idea he was in this many movies, thank you!
The Libertine is phenomenal. I guarantee you’ve never seen such an ending for him. Pull up the prologue- so sexy.
Same
His evolution from a typical leading man to an outstanding character actor.
I'm not a movie buff. Many of these movies I would never watch, but wow what a range of characters he has portrayed. Some of them I would not have recognized him.
You forgot to include his role in 'The Astronaut's Wife', where he played the sinister husband of Charlize Theron's character. Good '90s movie. :)
I loved that one.
I was thinking just the same... I love that movie
and the 1995 dead man
He is the best actor ever!
Jesus Christ. Look no further for completely unhinged fawning idiocy. Are you real or have been paid for this shit?
So many more movies to enjoy. His talent is absolutely incredible and cannot be replicated.
well if you enjoy shit movies
It’s really amazing how they can make him look so different in each movie and how he always brings his own notes into a character! He truly has a magnificent talent
So beautiful. So talented. To think being close to him is unattainable but crazy Amber had him and mistreated him so badly.
I’ve always loved this man’s range. I am so glad that more people are being exposed to this. He is incredibly talented.
Actors like Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, some others too, when you watch them in a movie, it's like they're just playing themselves. Johnny (amazing) Depp is an actor that just disappears into the characters he plays. Truly one of the greats!
❤❤❤❤❤💖💖❤
That he can completely immerse himself into a character and you don't even know it's him..😱😱 I was amazed just seeing all the roles I've never seen before and thinking how if I wasn't given a "heads-up", I would have thought it was somebody else!❤️❤️
'Your tongue belongs to satan'. This scene from The Rum Diary reminds me of Dr. Spiegel, the psychiatrist from the trial.
LOL 🤣
Now I can't get this image out of my head🤣
Quick someone make an edit lmao
lol...maybe Johnny will portray a crazy psychiatrist in a future movie...he can use Spiegel as inspiration
"Tell me why he's dead-"
"Because you killed him."
One of the best exchanges in movie history 😆 along with this is bat country, of course
Such a creative mind, plays each role with sincerity, the many faces of Johnny Depp. Difficult not to honour him.
5:14. Shut the front door! Where was I when Johnny Depp was playing Donald Trump? And well from the clip I just saw. His portfolio of characters is bigger than I’ve ever realized. Thank you for this lovely compilation; I just learned something!
I first knew him by photographs. Then I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I didn't learn that it was him before years.
I've been watching corpse bride ever since I was little and I never knew it was Johnny Depp doing the voice

Absolute GOAT! We knew he was great but this compilation shows the range of his skills so well.
The amount of movies he did *between* the POTC saga and their diversity is insane.
You can see he loved acting, he didn't depend on his mainstream roles and challenged himself with different characters that can be appreciated within a wide age range.
My god has he got range.
So many unique characters and makes all memorable.
I hope in years to come people call this the Depp range.
He’s been in more movies than Amber has years of life. 😂 And she called him a joke.
Johnny really nails the British accent when he's Jack Sparrow, I loved his performance in Dead Man's Chest

Madam, I recommend you three films: Arizona Dream (1993), Ninth Gate (1999) and Secret Window (2004).
Would love to see Johnny back in action. He is simply the best.
I never knew he had so many different films. Thanks Amber. Now all his films will be seen.
It’s hard to even tell that it is Johnny in a lot of these movies, his acting skills are amazing! He gives life to every character he plays as.

That's more than 70 different characters he played! He truly is a legend 👏 ❤️
