So, the elderly people voting at home is true. Not only them but anyone who has a valid reason to miss voting on election day register for SPECIAL VOTING. I, for instance, as a journalist, was working on election day so I voted before election day with elderly people and other people with special needs. For the elderly and those who can’t go to a voting station, electoral officers go to their homes. That’s why we have to register beforehand with addresses as well. The elderly or special needs person will have another person they trust to help them so that the officers don’t change her vote or persuade them to change their vote. Political party agents are also with the officers to monitor. I hope this helped.
@@cherishedoliviaTV It really helps. It’s helpful also for those in critical jobs who have to be at work on election day, like nurses, police, journalists, etc. They all get to vote with elderly people and the needing on special vote day/s
Thank u momma for constructive engagement all we need is better South Africa for all regardless of either being from here or not. Smooth voting day is what SAPS always try to achieve/manage at the end of day.
We vote for the political parties, political parties in parliament vote for president. We have 5 voting days. I was in Nigeria in 2022 and I felt the tension even then 🤣 ! No tension this side. I also noticed in Nigeria you had people in the same party competing. Another difference is in Nigeria the candidate mostly finances his campaign and seeks donations themselves making it exclusive to rich Politicians with connections. i think Nigerian election are similar to USA elections. Party members fight amongst each other to lead the party and whoever wins within the party the party support them for national Elections.
There are regulations pertaining to when campaigning ends. No posters, regalia or chanting is allowed at voting districts. We're generally politically tolerant here in SA.
no, there is rarely any tension during voting, we go vote, talk to people who are voting for other parties, they do not have fear of being attacked or judged for their choice hence they even go in their full party regalia, then that is that.
Hi Sisi, Thanks for sharing your observation about the voting in SA, reflecting to us as SA means a lot. You are very welcome, and I LOve your spirit. You have a cool and collected spirit, humility is one of the attributes i have noticed, I would encourage that you stay like that, and be a blessing to your surrounding. My fellow South Africans have said it all, and hope that changes for better in your country can grow.
Voting for a party is somehow costing us bcos they normalize using public funds for themselves but ey! politicians even when the public vote for a person the person still hangs with his own group of corruptors🤔
The voting was chilled but also there was anticipation on results as biggest party was expected to lose its majority, which it did, now they have just 40% of vote whereas 5 years ago they were closer to 60%. No violence as such but some areas can be a bit tense. Voter turnout though was the lowest the new South Africa has seen, it was just around 54% voter turn out vs 66% in last election which was due to this new electoral clause where ppl needed to vote where they were registered. Some ppl missed registration deadline which was a month before election date For the most part, SAn elections are free and fair as we have a lot of checks and balances in place, not easy to cheat an election here
You are welcome. I hope every citizen of any African country can be able to vote even when they are abroad. People ahouhave a say in who governs their country.

- Polling Stations close at 9pm, however voters who are already on the line at 9pm cannot be turned away, regardless of how long the lines are. Reason some people voted at 3/4am. - Campaigning of any kind is not allowed within 48 hours of Polling Stations opening. Parties found guilty can be penalized. That’s why you don’t see anyone campaigning day before and on Election Day. - Politicians do campaign by giving food parcels to the poor, it’s frowned upon but they still do it. - Province of KZN is known for violence during elections since 1994, it’s gotten better over time but it’s still the place where tensions are high and there’s some fear. I must add though that it’s not the rest of the province, there’s some hotpots where the police presence is usually augmented during elections. Also any place in SA could be classified as a hotspot for violence during any election depending on locals dynamics at the time, and the police will make their presence felt at that location for the duration of election season.
