    As a single mom and I can't seem to trust mechanics with my sole means of transportation in 2021, I appreciate a great video that will allow me to fix the problem myself. Great job.

      good advice ,mechanics made my car dead cost a new engine ,,, I learnt a lesson once I took apart a whole engine by reading honda service manual and while i did that i found how much the mechanics were amateur and liars and I found that the whole problem was a 20 usd heat sensor I change it and everything was fine but it cost me an eninge because them sşnce that moment ı do everything myself am an engineer and theyr are only kids learning things without thinking the where and whys ..go ahead trust yourself and you can do it,,,women are much more organized thats why are more adequate to do things clean ...salutes from Turkey

      @@chawqueeThis happens to my aunt all the time. Car after car she takes her car to a mechanic and they charge her an extra exuberant amount of money, keeps bringing it in time after time and it stays in the shop longer and longer until she just says screw it and buys a new car again. She's tried hiring tweakers but they either don't know what they're doing or are pulling her leg for extra money. Telling her the parts cost more than they actually do so they can profit even though she's also paying them for the job to begin with. It's a shame. She refuses to learn how to work on her cars by herself no matter how often I've told her before to try her best to learn how to fix it on her own. She fixes everything else by hand in her house including the construction. So it's beyond me why she doesn't work on her cars herself.

    Fast idle air valve can cause that problem too if it allows air to pass after car warmup. It suppose to allow air pass only when car is Cold, after that it closes when car get warm.

    I did the job, but saw liquid coming out of one of the hoses, I thought: “there’s not supposed to be water in here” so I dumped a lot of it out. Turns out it’s coolant that reaches the throttle body, including the IAC valve. So now I got air in my engine coolant system and the idle jumps around lol. Now I gotta bleed out the air from the coolant system. Just in case anyone else makes the mistake I did.

    • @michaelmaldonado2408
      @michaelmaldonado2408 2 года назад

      How did you bleed the air?

    • @plumkey197
      @plumkey197 Год назад +4

      @@michaelmaldonado2408 Put the front of the car on ramps and open the radiator and idle the engine until the thermostat opens (the top radiator hose will get hot, the electric fan will come on, and coolant will be circulating in the radiator). The ramps place the radiator high above the rest of the cooling system and helps to get rid of any air in the system. Turn the heater temp all the way to warm so the heater core is circulating. Add coolant to the radiator if it's low. Let engine run around 1500 RPM's for about 5-10 minutes longer until there are no more air bubbles or when coolant begins to overflow. Top off radiator if able and replace the cap. Make sure the overflow container is level with the "cool" mark on the side. It can be a little over but add coolant if it's below the "cool" mark. Take car off of ramps and drive it around neighborhood with the heater all the way to warm for a few minutes - then park it, check for leaks, and let it cool completely. Then check the radiator once more and add to fill neck if necessary. Check the overflow container in a few days and replace any coolant that is missing and bring level up to "cool". You should be fine after this procedure. Placing the car's front end on ramps will eliminate any possibility of an air pocket(s) remaining anywhere in the system IF the cooling system has been maintained and there are no issues like overheating or leaks.

    Can you use a manual transmission IAC valve on a automatic ? The price difference between the two is like $100 more for the auto vs the manual. They both look exactly the same part though. I am trying to replace for 1999 Honda CRV EX AWD 2.0L.
    Also is yours automatic and do you have link to the new part you used?
    At all Autoparts stores Advanced Auto Parts, Orielly's, and AutoZone it is $257 or so for the automatic tranny one and like $158 for the manual tranny one. I don't get why the price difference is so much!

      Quality parts and replacements. Just have to decide if you want to wait on the part to arrive. But if the part look ls the same and says on the description that it fits your car, only then you should buy. Check out RockAuto.com. look at the prices to see wich is convinient for you.

      The valve uses the coolant temp to actuate the valve to open and close via an electrical device. You need to burp the air out of the cooling system after you replace the valce of it might not work.

    I bought two new iacv for like 60 and second 40 dollar and they dont work, the first one got fluctuating idle up to 1500 and down to 900 no stopping after cra warmed up, the second one i tought it does work, but the idle was too hight when the car warmed up like almost 1000 rpm, and the air conditioning doesent work with that idle, the computer turn the clutch off after 10 second of engaging, and what i did is clean the ild one with throttle cleaning (the problem with the old one was when i turned the AC on, the rpm engine goes down too low and the computer turned the AC clutch off) and put it back and drive for 3 miles and the AC worked perfict for two years no clutch desengaging anymore, but after the same problem.happen again and i clean it again and it workung for now but i need to buy the original one from honda after the two after market new ones fail to work properly.

      Go to a junkyard and get one off of a low mileage CR,V and clean it up well. You will be better off with the used OEM part than buying the Chinese junk available around every corner. The OEM part brand-new is $350-$500+++, depending on your location. Don't forget to clean the ports in the throttle body while you have the IAC valve off the car, or better yet, remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning.
