    Man, your video saved me 600 reais (about 175 dollars), my 1995 Honda Accord was dying when idle valve is requested (after 1 minute on for heating), so I cleaned the valve and my car came to life like a charm! Thank you!

    My 97 Integra was idling at around 1600rpm and then dropping down to around 800. I pulled the idle control off and cleaned it. It was all gunked up. Fixed the problem. About a half hour of work. Thanks.

    Thank you for an excellent video. The IAC valve is exactly the same on the 1997 Honda Accord EX (F21B). I hope cleaning this valve works as the list price on a replacement is over $400.00. What a joke! I was amazed to find the same carbon buildup in the screen and a large amount of buildup in the open port. (I attempted to spray cleaner in the upper port in the throttle body housing and that did not work.) I filled the open port with throttle body cleaner four times, allowed twenty minutes for it to work and dumped it into a clean, clear, container. The cleaner was dark brown, almost black, on the first two cleaning attempts. It was a still brown on the third attempt and was not completely clear on the fourth cleaning. I will repeat the process until the cleaner is relatively clear. The engineers at Honda never had to work on their own vehicles. There is very little room to work and it is very difficult to remove the bolts. My Craftsman 12 mm ratchet combination wrench (old enough it was made in USA and not the Chinese junk they sell now) was a great help. The fuel filter is very difficult to replace as some moron decided to move it from the upper firewall (the location on most Honda cars) to a place slightly above the steering gearbox and below the master cylinder on the driver's side of the vehicle.

    Thank you very much for the information. How can you determine the engine numbers you mentioned at the beginning or where are these numbers located?
    Is there any component on the Idle Air Control Valve that wears out or does it just need cleaning?
    Is there any method to confirm the signal from the IACV to the ECM without removing either one?

    Every now and then when I start my 95 2.2 odyssey the engine will start but shut off as soon as I let the key off the start position. It might do this a few times in a row and then start and run normally. Could a dirty gunked up throttle body be causing this?

      after I took off my lines, I forgot which one connected to which... there is a smaller line and a slightly larger line, but the ends to the sensor are the same... it seems like it should be one way, but I would like to check and make sure with you which one is for which, I'd hate to connect it backwards.... facing the vehicle's front, my larger lead looks like it comes from the left to the intake with the butterfly doors. my other lead comes from the right and looks like it goes deeper into the bottom of the whole thing.

    i replaced my ACV on my 02 honda accord 2.3L and i guess i was in a hurry putting it back together and i might of mixed my two hoses in and out. I started it the iddle going up and down didn't change even after reseting ECU. I drove it home like 2 miles and i noticed coolant leaking and smoking a little bit. Immediately i realized i might of mixed my two hoses so i took it appart switched them back and the iddle fluctuating went away but now my car will sorta choke when i put it in gear to take off. I let it sit a full day hoping the coolant would dry or something but came home started it and it kept doing the same thing. I do have a cold air intake and a throttle body spacer idk if that makes any difference. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS ANYBODY PLEASE!! I NEED MY CAR RUNNING FOR WORK. Thanks ahead of time

    My car is a 1997 Acura CL. It was idling rough up and down while warming up. Was running somewhat OK at a steady speed of 40-50. As soon as I slow down or speed up it started jerking and the rpm went ballistic. Slowing to a stop or at idle I had to play with the gas pedal to keep the engine running. Needless to say, this can be dangerous when driving and having to slow down or stop suddenly. Today was the day to clean the IAC and intake ports.
    This video doesn't really show how difficult it can be to remove the hoses from the IAC. As a matter of fact it was impossible because the hoses are to short to pull the IAC up and disconnect the hoses. I left the hoses clamped to the IAC and left the whole thing dangling. Started spraying both ports using seafoam. Used a soft toothbrush to avoid damaging the tiny screen that covers one port and scrubbed gently around it. Worked like a charm.
    Idle is back to normal.

    • @knightle7669
      @knightle7669 4 месяца назад

      nice 5 years in the future i will say most older cars are so gunked up and oxidate on the hoses. so i recommend leaving it dangling if you can. or at best buy new hoses before you do this and then you can replace the bad hose

  • @WiseKen16
    @WiseKen16 7 лет назад

    of the two gold lines that connect at the bottom of the mass airflow sensor, is it normal to find water in one of those hoses? or is that the coolant leads that you were talking about?... when I removed mine, it seemed like one was empty, and the other seemed like water, it didn't have a scent.... how do I remove the water if this is the case that the car might've been flooded before my ownership?
    please help me, thank you for your time, and this is a great and very helpful video

    Unlike an Accord, the location of the IACV is almost inaccessible on a 1995 Odyssey.
    The back of the hood which you see @1:15 is extends more towards the front in an Odyssey, which "buries" the IACV deeper in the engine compartment.
    I cannot imagine how one would access the two bolts holding the IACV.
    Seems like the only recourse is to disassemble the entire air intake boot and manifold.

      Flush coolant. Make sure radiator isn't rusted or cracked. Clean throttle body and components like on video. Clean IACV and Fiacv. Adjust Fiacv if necessary. REplace gasket on IACV with oem gasket (very cheap). Replace radiator with new Honda coolant, and bleed to get air out. System should work perfect for the life of the car.

    This video is great... wonder if this is what is wrong. Can you tell.
    First car started shaking so I checked the spark plugs and noticed that I needed to replace the valve gasket seal... replaced everything plugs including wire... did an oil change and replaced air filter also. Car still feels like its misfiring, and today I noticed smoke coming out of the chamber next to air filter behind battery..its a little peace that comes out... it was smoking and now my car will not stay on, idle drops and then shuts off at times it will not start. Could it be this? 94 honda accord

    • @hondapartshero
      @hondapartshero  10 лет назад

      Sounds like a good start. Did you clean the oil out of the spark plug wires? Also what model is your accord? DX, EX, LX? The DX and LX models have another set of valve cover gaskets under the cam assembly that often leaks as well. If recheck and saw if the oil came back.

      I replaced the spark plug wires all together... cleaned the oil out where the spark plugs are at... thought that would do the fix and as I mentioned decided to do an oil change and change ail filter... car feels like it jumps when driving at least on 3rd speak mostly 4th. I have a 1994 honda accord dx

      It will idle right at the one when I start the car and then it drops and the car shuts off. Even after the fix on my way home doing 50 the car shut off on highway... I have no check engine light or anything... trying to see what I can do at home to fix the issue instead of a repair shop.

    • @hondapartshero
      @hondapartshero  10 лет назад

      It's doubtful this is your issue especially the cutting out at 50mph. However it sounds ignition related either in the ignition switch or the ignition system (coil or ignitor). Here are some links to help you diagnose further:

      Thank you so much... that information made a lot of sense, because my key switch is having problems, it is hard to start the car some times cause the key will not turn it gets stuck at times... the info you gave me made sense. I think I might have other problems also...because when driving it does a shake, like the feeling when a car (manual) is just about to stall it does a hard shake and then cuts off that is what it kinds of feel like which made me to believe it was misfiring...but after fixing it still does it... Ill def look into the switch... Thank you so much

    I've been working on Honda's my whole life. I do Not recommend ever adjusting the base Idle on any Honda unless it's an older Carbureted fuel system. it's set at the factory aided by a computer Scan tool. that is why they cover the Screw with heat tubing shrink because they don't want you to touch it. thanks.

    Hi, I've been having some trouble with my 1994 Accord f22A, it's been losing power, not accelerating when I hit the gas and eventually shutting down as I pull over.
    It gives also won't stay on for long if stopped (at a stop light for example). just yesterday a mechanic did a bunch of tests, drove it, left it on for a while and said he couldn't find anything wrong, but when I got home and tested it out, it started doing the same thing again.

I replaced all that and my car runs great but mine was different situation. My car shut off on me and that was because the timing belt broke. I would check the timing belt.

      so do i use throttle body cleaner on the IACV? or Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner???

    • @Vfh........y
      @Vfh........y 5 лет назад +1

      The difference between throttle cleaner And carpet cleaner is that you can't use carb cleaner if your throttle butterfly has a rubber seal on the bottom. Carb cleaner can affect that seal. I don't believe most Accords or Civics have that seal but you need to look before you spray it with carb cleaner. The safe thing to do is to use throttle body cleaner when you're working around the throttle butterfly.
