Looks great. I’ve never been a big fan of the first Backbone on my previous iPhone though. It looks and feels premium, has great, clicky buttons, and does exactly what it promises, but it always felt too small in my hands and I ended up using it a lot less than I thought I would. Now that the 15 Pro is getting some true AAA games, I’m looking for a new controller. It’s a bit bigger, seems to have more comfortable grips, has Hall Effect joysticks and actually lets you replace those joysticks yourself. On top of that, it’s about €30-40 cheaper than the Backbone. Don’t know if it works with a case though, which would be a bummer. Would love to see a comparison between the two.
So I spent some time using both before answering your question and I maybe notice the shoulder buttons being a subtle upgrade. The rest might be placebo from a new device but I’m not noticing a stark difference. Hope that helps.

I would like to bring to your attention a compatibility concern with the black USB-C version of the Backbone controller. While some users have reported successful use with PlayStation Remote Play, there appears to be a general incompatibility. To ensure seamless compatibility with both PlayStation and other platforms, such as xCloud, I recommend opting for the PlayStation-branded Backbone controller. This discrepancy can lead to confusion and inconvenience for users, and addressing it would enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, if the Backbone case is slightly too large for your device, removing the adapters may resolve the fitting issue.

I’ve never received an overheating warning while playing Death Stranding on my 15 Pro Max in a case when using the BackBone gen 2. I usually run out of battery first which forces me to take a break since I don’t really like to play while tethered. I wouldn’t worry about it, iOS has its fail safes in place.

@@ReyG_HKSH what about the ESR classic case with camera ring kickstand?
@@Patrick-rs9ov If that’s a similar design to the TORRAS L-stand case you will need to remove the insert on the left side altogether for it to fit.
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of getting the Portal, but I'm more convinced of getting one. I alright, have the Steam deck. I need something else on the go. Great feedback
Glad you found it useful.
No gen 2 for lightening is stupid
Will it work with a galaxy A32 5G
Can it play mobile legends?
And without mapping issues?
its horrible due to the camera hump not fitting with the iPhone 15 pro max get the Gamesir G8 best of all time in every way
Will it fit my tab 9 ultra? Lol
🤣
Had a Spigen Neo Hybrid Case for my S23 Ultra didnt work with the Backbone Gen 2.
Switched to the Spigen Liquid Air Case and it works perfectly fine 🫡
Thanks for sharing your experience and adding another data point for users!

compare it to gamesir g8
They don't work with otter box
Unfortunately, Otterbox cases are probably too thick and have too much material surrounding the USB-C port.
sadly remote play on ps5 with 5ghz Wifi is still useless on iPhone. Terrible lag... yes I have an Orbi mesh system.
Is your PS5 connected via Ethernet or WiFi? Remote play works quite well for my with the Orbi and a wired PS5 connection.
@@ReyG_HKSHps5 is connected to Orbi thru WiFi. So is my XB series X… remote play on Xbox works great! Not sure why PS5 connection sucks… both console on WiFi.
