  • Today we've got the Ryobi 2,300 PSI 1.2 GPM High Performance Electric Pressure Washer, model RY142300 for review. At the moment, sold only at Home Depot. It's a great unit, but as we'll see in throughout this video, may not be worth it's $100 price premium over universal motor-powered units. #ryobi #unboxing #review

    Well, we bought one on my job as the company tried various brands of electrical pressure washers for cleaning big AC coils, cooling towers and ducts. So far this green meany is the only survivor. I've put at least 800 hours on this sucker, still goes strong. This are under the sun 85 degrees plus tropical hot and humid hours of use. It's a fairly good product for what you pay, even the updated price of 329 dollars. That said I'm very meticulous about purging lines before and after the use. Highly recommend for a household setting.

    I got one year out of mine. Basically, I wound up spending hundreds of $$$'s to pressure wash my mobile home one time. When done, I drained all the lines. Springtime and it didn't work. Disassembled the unit and found the plastic valve (yes, plastic) had become corroded in the pump housing. Which is cheap aluminum by the way. It has corroded with scale in the water over the winter and no amount of CLR fixed it. Save your money and rent one for your yearly chores. It's a helluva lot cheaper in the long run. Btw, I'm a retired engineer with a background in metallurgy. Ryobi could have spent a dollar more to incorporate corrosion resistant materials. Cheap...just plain cheap.

    Nice timely review in 2020 as I am seriously considering buying this unit. I have never had a pressure washer but have been doing research on pressure washers and their associated equipment. Two main things I have learnt: Nozzle size is important. It refers to the actual size of the orifice in the nozzle. 0, 15, 25 and 40 degree refer to the shape of the nozzle or jet stream. The nozzle size can be determined using the unit's Max pressure and gpm and selecting nozzle size on the nozzle size chart. Secondly, for foam cannon use, because the unit has a small gpm of 1.2 which is lower than gas powered units and comparable to other electric units, you need a smaller (1.1mm) orifice on the foam cannon to better agitate your soap and give thicker foam. All things considered, I would choose this unit over a comparable unit from greenworks simply because in my country Ryobi tools are marketed and used and should something go wrong, I should be easier able to find a technician/parts for the unit. I cannot say the same for greenworks

  • @anthonyweiss7281

    The reason the pressure was so los with the 40 degree nozzle is because the orifice size is too large for the low flow of the pressure washers u need one with a 2 orifice size for the small washers and the pressure will increase with the 40 degree

    Excellent review wished I saw this before I bought this model a year ago. Used it once this year on the car and worked great. Next time to tackle the pollen on the deck and porches and the pressure is enough to water flowers. Just trying to find somebody that works on these is impossible. Home Depot sells and offer no service or were you can get service. Ryobi says to try this place 55 miles away but call first as they may not service your particular tool... Tomorrow I call and if I am lucky I get to drive 110 miles to drop off and another 110 miles to pick up. Worst problem is I just found out a neighbor services Greenworks 10 miles away. Before it went bad I purchased a $500 40V lawn mower and not feeling good about it.

Took it home, put it together, used it for about 20 minutes resetting my GFCI almost every time it kicked on on a 20 amp circuit, put it back in teh car, took it back and went to Home Deport and got the Ryobi. The Ryobi's "idle" function made all the difference. No breaker trips and good performance.

    Hi,
    Can you tell me where you got the PSI reader to attach to the pressure washer. I wanted to do some of my own tests. I feel my little Ryobi 1800 psi does better with the 40 degree tip for car washing. I just like something with wheels. That’s why I am looking at this 2300psi one.

  • @colonb3
    @colonb3 2 года назад

    I think you are using the wrong 40 degree tip, thus the reason of pressure drop.

  • @_MOORE_1986
    @_MOORE_1986 2 года назад

    Don't pay any attention to what the PSI says! What you need to know is what the (GPM) Gallons Per Minute is, when it comes to pressure.
    I also highly suggest you never spray your fingers with a pressure washer, if you do with one that has enough pressure, you'll cut yourself with it. I've seen it happen before!

    • @txmxan88
      @txmxan88 2 года назад

      What gpm is the best?

    • @_MOORE_1986
      @_MOORE_1986 2 года назад

      2.5 GPM will do the job just fine, if you're only planning on using it every so often around the house.
      If you want something to use several times a year and maybe start a business with, or wanting the more power to do the job quicker and pulling around a lot more weight isn't an issue for you, than I'd recommend a 4.0 GPM. They make up to 8.0 GPM machines, is what I believe is the highest GPM there is. Those are real expensive and way too much of everything for something to just use around the house with though. They also have Hot water pressure washers that work even better, but again not something to spend all the extra money on if only using around house a couple times.
      I recommend getting a turbo nozzle for any pressure washer. If you have a good size driveway, and / or walking paths, I'd also look into getting a decent surface cleaner attachment, as it's so much faster than using the wand and normal tip on a large flat surface.
      There are a ton of pressure washing videos here on RUclips and can learn a lot more from watching them

    I bought one, tested it on the car, driveway, side of house, and immediately returned it. I would love to use an electric, but I found it weak in comparison to a gas powered unit at the same price point.

    • @aaronstestlab
      @aaronstestlab  3 года назад +3

      Yeah, 120V washers really don't compare too well to gas-powered unit power wise. They're just really convenient and quiet.

    Gallons per minute would be the cause of the different pressures. Also the nozzle that you bought aftermarket is the wrong size for the machine. For the pressure to drop down to 500 you must have bought a 40 degree with a larger oriface. I'm guessing a 3.0 or 3.5? Look at a nozzle chart to select the correct oriface size and you will still get 2000 psi with a 40 degree nozzle.

    Great detailed review. I bought a Karcher and when it was delivered - oil was soaking the shipping box, so returned it. My primary use will be for soap foaming my cars. Does anyone know if the Greenworks and Sun Joe have standard fitting nozzles so different brand foam cannons can be ued? Thanks

      Not sure about all Greenworks, but these two I reviewed have standard M22-14 fittings:
