    Great video- thorough and really in depth with pressure and amperage tests. I used one of these last fall to clean my house and garage siding. It is my co-workers and I was highly impressed with it. Glad your review matched my thoughts. One thing I did buy for it was a 30 foot extension hose($35 at tractor supply), as the one they come with always seems too short for being up on a ladder and trying to keep the power unit out of the backwash.

    review of the gpw3000? i just bought one from lowes last week and its powerful enough to clean mold and grime off blacktop and concrete, i will say though that even this model doesn't have as much of a kick as a gas equivalent. I guess the .5 gallon a minute really makes the difference. but 2.0 gpm is still pretty great for a 120v motor! but I bought it mainly because I know I wouldn't need to be using a pressure washer very often around the home and I already have enough small engines to maintain. so thats why i bought this, and when I set it all up and turned it on for the first time it was so quiet! I do pressure washing as a part time job and those engines can really roar, so I was very surprised to hear just how quiet it really was! great machine so far.

    Great video deserving a thumbs up. After watching your informative 2300 review in the long ago and reading you got the 2700, I waited a long time for this review. Lost patience and bought the 3000 psi model a couple weeks ago and am quite happy. Only $50 more ($400) than last year's older 2700 model. Greenworks touts the new 3000 psi model to be "noteably better in performance than the previous 2700 with their most powerful motor and pump". Seemed like a no brainer to me. Curious how they actually compare. My only other option was a commercial 20a 120v NorthStar at $1000+ so I'm happy to see this pulls close to 15a, otherwise it would be mediocre like all the other residential pressure washers. Nice Cayenne, mine's white.

      So here's the thing. If you're used to gas pressure washers, this might be a bit of a disappointment. There just isn't enough power in a 15/20A 120V residential circuit to compete with a 6 hp gas engine. That said, it is surprisingly powerful, and if you keep expectations realistic, you'll really like it.

    7:48 We've had a number of issues with the GPW3000 we just bought and used for the first time. One of those issues is fluctuating pressure from the motor pulsating. That led me to do some research and just happen to come across an old Pro Tool Reviews where a Stihl representative explained that tips should match the motor which makes sense... now. What they didn't get into though was if each fan pattern, if properly matched to the motor, should be producing the same pressure. Do you know if that is true?

    • @kontakt4321
      @kontakt4321 2 года назад +5

      The orifice size dictates the pressure more than the angle. The full specs on a tip are degrees followed by gpm. You might have a 25* 2.0gpm tip for building more pressure, and a 25* 3.5gpm tip to sacrifice raw pressure for flow. Almost no factory tip lists its orifice size anywhere, and they vary pretty widely. You can have a 15, 25, and 40 degree tip that make the exact same pressure on the same machine, but they tend to come with ones that do what you expect (more pressure at lower angles). Too small of an orifice on any degree of tip, and most electric pressure washers will cycle the pump off while you're spraying because the pressure rises to its trigger to go back to idle. Cycling when not spraying usually involves air, leaks, or a fault of some kind.

    Did you choose 3/8 or 1/4’” quick connects mate? Curious because the pressure hose is only 1/4”, and the sprayer nozzles are 1/4”, why one would go with the heavier, bulkier 3/8 connects when there is already a reduction to 1/4” through the hose, gun, & nozzles?

    wonderful video. clear, thorough, and fun. one question. i live in a home that's close to 100 years old in the bay area. my electrical set up for the home is old-fashioned knob and tubing. i'm really excited about this unit -- for prepping my house for painting, plus, lots of other projects. should i be concerned about the possibility of it blowing out my circuit. what if i shut everything else off while it's in use? is there anything else i can do to mitigate that possibly aside from redoing my home wiring (which i'm not in a position to do)? thanks.

  • @Dinastyman3
    @Dinastyman3 3 года назад +14

    Can I ask why you aren't testing GPMs as that is a much more important factor than PSI for car washing? Every other car detailer I've seen has suggested being around 1000-1200 psi using larger tip sizes for optimal GPMs. You mention using a 25 degree nozzle on the car, is that the one that came with the model, producing over 2000 PSI or going with a larger orifice to reduce the pressure to safe levels for paint? Since you got within what looks like an inch to wash the bird crap off, I'm hoping you weren't at 2000 PSI. I apologize if you cover this on other videos but everything said seems to go very much against the grain for the consensus in the detailing world. Also, for $350 this is approaching mid grade pressure washers, and is easily beaten by active pressure washers when it comes to car detailing for almost half the price.

    hmm when I use my MTM foam canon the pressure adjusts and it comes out real runny after a bit. If you take out the tip completely and run it, you will see the water come out nice and smooth, but if you keep holding it down the water will then come out in pressurized pushes. If it didn't try to adjust the pressure it would be a perfect machine.

    Great unit and awesome review. I just don't get the fact that why even these type of tough electric pressure washers dont come with triplex plunger pumps? Electric ones will get very close to the gas ones which mostly comes with those pumps if they do so as they are the most powerful and robust pumps hands down.

    Also, a small doubt, as 25ft is hard to reach father place, can I attach garden hose to this 25 ft hose ? or should I buy different grade hose to extend this 25ft.
    And which spec cord is preferred to be safe to use and not to trip breaker ?
    Thanks.

      A pressure washer will use close to the maximum current available on a standard 120 socket. You need a lower gauge (thicker wire) extension for longer runs. For a 25 foot run a 14/3 (gauge/number of conductors) cable should be fine, for 50 ft I would go with a 12/3. 16/3 might be okay on 25ft if you won't be using the pressure washer for more than 5-10 minutes at a time, but I would avoid an 18/3 for a load like this.
      For a longer hose length you can use a longer garden hose (generally up to 50 ft) from the spigot but you can't use a garden hose for the pressurized side. You need a dedicated pressure washer hose for the pressurized side and Greenworks indicates in comments on their reviews that 50ft is fine but you may experience a pressure loss.
      Disclaimer: I've never used a pressure washer

      You'll find that the included 35ft power cord with included GFCI is normally sufficient. Instead, consider lengthening the 25ft pressure washer hose itself and stop moving the pressure washer around with you or creating electrical concerns with an extension cord. Output remains exactly the same to at least 100ft in testing. I chose to add the 30ft Greenworks (Uberflex) hose (Lowes Online) to add to my existing 25ft (Uberflex) on my 3000GPW. Exact same hose construction and it comes with the adapter to connect them. My other option was the single 50ft Flexilla, but it was 2x price.

      @@pj7250 welcome! I like my GPW3000 a lot so far in the past couple months of use. Build-wise, it's a sturdy metal framed tank compared to my plastic tip-over SunJoe SPX3000. I can't quantitatively measure output, but it's qualitatively a lot more than the SPX3000, but not cut-your-toes-off super loud fume-filled gas power. My Ryobi surface cleaner (for electrics) wants to literally take flight now. Probably the best electric unit until you step up to a $1k - $1.4k Northstar 12v 20A or 240v. My only dislike is the constant-on pump builds a lot of pressure, which upon the initial very heavy pull of the trigger sprays out what seems like 2x the psi for the first 1/2 second, but instantly settles down kinda like popping a champagne cork. A cork that could accidentally knock some paint off your car if not careful. I think I'd prefer the ramp-up not always-on of the gpw2300, but with gpw3000 power and build quality. Or maybe something is wrong with mine.
