Repair, you will definitely not regret it. I also drive the only eight Arden Blue Zafira A GSI. In the Netherlands we call it OPC (Opel Performance Center). Every KM I drive in it is just great. I enjoy it immensely. Even though this car is over 20 years old. These are the real Opel cars that were made. Unfortunately, Opel was taken over by the PSA group in 2016. So it became French. And I'm not going to say anything about that. Please repair again. Then you can enjoy this unique car again.
Get it sorted and keep it. If you dont, i'd be inferested in buying it to go with mine. Bought a black door off yiu wjen you were at the old premises, so not far to come.
Put in the work! And put it back on the road! I know the situation you are in right now, i am in the middle of restoring a astra g opc caravan 1 of the 15 ever deliverd in Holland. But in the end its al worth it because there not much left of these cars on the road
Ron Ron Ron, this is so easy to answer, get the work done and get her leak free again, no factory spec cars exist no more and those close are now up for 3.5k to 5k! Since my last comment a few years back mines gone to scrap, chassis to sub frame area was corroding and I still regret it! I then had a air bagged vxr (yes that one) and it just wasn't as special as the gsi. Honestly you could fix it and park it for a few years and you wont loose a penny, they are going up in value now
Such a lovely motor and you've put so much time and money into it already. I think it comes down to how deep are ya pockets Rocket. If you put it back to factory spec, I think you'll easily get ya money back being such a classic. Or go down a cheaper route possibly and do an engine swap. Personally I think it'd be great content for ya channel 😜👌🏼
Just fix the old girl and put her back onto the road and valuable goes up in the future time on these iconic Zafira gsi and it's not many of these on the road
Feel for ya Ron! I've spent thousands on 2 rebuilds, invested too much to let it go! I love my bus, plus it's practical for the family. The fact that it's getting rarer has appeal too. Stick with it mate - plus I love the vids! When it's running again and you take it for a blast, you'll forgive it for bring a costly b!tch... I did 😅
I used work on Vectras & Astras - endless frustration on wheels. The current fascination with the wodious, wallet-busting piles of dung that are the Insignias baffles me - as does Zafira-Love. The "hint" was the subframes rusting out faster than you could blink, coupled with endless motor meltdowns. "Peak" Vauxhall was the 1.4 Astra of the late 90's - semi-decent vehicles. 80% of the rest is skip-fodder IMO, just waiting to hit you with big bills & giving your mechanic an ache in their groin just looking at them.
If you measure it with a micrometer you will most likely see the pistons and bore are both way out of spec. The only proper fix is to go to the first oversize. We had the same issue with two Z20LET engines so send me a PM if you need more info ;) Also if you do a bit of searching you might find a set of oversized Mahle pistons for a lot less.
I’ve had 3 Zafira GSI and 2 Astra GSI were the valve stem seals ok? as they all mostly suffer serious blow by the PCV is too light weight I’d put a can on it in an open configuration.
Speak to nevlock for a set of rods and pistons, or see if they'll do you a discounted forged engine kit with the appropriate size pistons? Keep it standard, but with a healthy strong engine.
Ronnie, get V6 lump in it pal. Be a great project and when’s the last time you saw a V6 Zaf GSI? If you wanna keep it standard spec though why not buy a running donar car then break the donar for parts🤷🏻♂️
actually i had more problems on redtop i love it but it wasn't that reliable as z20let.I don't know why they don't like these engines mine had oil services every 7000km and no issues ever. 250k km on the clock no smoke no nothing original turbo tho
I am sorry for your situation but you had problems because you were unlucky when you cut corners. Just buy a couple of blocks they sell for 50/100 quid and that's it
Cut your losses mate. sell it for spares or just scrap it. It's a money pit and even when the engine is right something else will go in the transmission/brakes/electrics etc. and you'll be back spending more money. You'll have your garage back to move onto something else less troublesome. It's not like a Vauxhall was ever built to last and at 21 years old it's knackered.
With a lot of love they can last ages Nothing realy goes In the electrics an also the suspension lasts for ages I got the same shocks and springs and I’ve had it sat for 4 years and it’s got 128k miles
@@CameronBond-e6i Lavishing love cost's money, on a car that will be unlikely to appreciate in value. It's predictable that being unused for 4 years that its got the same shocks and springs, particularly if it's been garaged or covered for all that time. It's got 128k on it and is in perfect running order, except for a new engine (virtually). I don't mean to be critical, you have done an amazing job with it, but unless it's a passion worth the high maintenance that it will inevitably require, it just seems silly to continue on with an unremarkable car that will just cost money.

Thanks for watching, looks like you've had a zafira playlist marathon, I appreciate it 😁
I hope you have soon a update about the Zafira GSI Z20LET

Let her live on she will be going up in value very soon like the novas
these engines were never really good nothing but trouble doubt they will ever go up in value
Fix it... let it live

Get it forged

The car look good. So my opinion is restore the engine if the money are not so big problem for you.

C20XE or b204
Get a vxr block or engine. As I heard the GSI engines were the early design vxr engines. Please don't break it.
Just buy a z20leh off a breaker
V6 it..............
Red top let swap with that big turbo you've got.. or xe on throttle bodies..

First
Cut your losses and sell what u can..u a busy man...put your resources into the audi, zero and astra.
Sell it
Think it’s time to cut your losses and break it for parts!
£3k down and what goes wrong next?
Money could be spent better elsewhere
Scrap it and start on the mk2 astra
Just get rid of the car and sell all the parts
