This is the very best breakdown video of the core techniques and principals used in vocal phrase skratching I have seen. Clear & concise with multiple camera angles and the very important slow down of the video show casing each technique. This has inspired me to dive into an area of my advanced skratching that I have ignored for to long. Thank you Grameu for making the time to share the skills & wisdom you have learned with the world.
Thank you for the kind comment and great feedback! 🙏I'm glad you like it and find it useful. I hope it can reach and help many more scratchers in their vocal phrasing journey. Good luck with the practice and let me know if you have questions 👍
Hah I basically just started trying to make a "scratch sentence" track, which I now realise it's called "Vocal phrasing" x) And I didn't even start searching tutorials online ... but tnx about this
Thanks very much for the tutorial 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 you made my day, I was struggling with this technique but you made it very easy to understand. Keep it up !!!!

Thanks! I can't provide the vocal sample. It's on the 12" scratch record Path of least resistance by the Skratchlords. But you can practice with just any vocal sample. The aim of this tutorial is to describe the steps that you need to follow and apply to any sample. Give it a try with whatever you have at hand!
Hey no worries, all questions are welcome! An ultra-pitch sample is a sample that, when played with the pitch fader at 0%, will sound fast and high pitched. So if you have a turntable with the pitch fader that can go +/- 50% (Stanton 150, Vestax PDX 2000 and 3000, Reloop RP 8000, among others), you can lower the pitch a lot, thus having the record play very slowly so you have more time to execute your moves, and the sample will still sound somewhat normal. If you need records with ultra-pitch samples, you can check out Cut & Paste Records, they have plenty to choose from. Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.
@@grameu Thanks for your response, I use another channel where I have my music, is there an email where I can contact you? To send you my music, I would like to keep you in mind for new songs.
Other than getting your hands on the record (physical or digital copy if it's available?), I don't know. This vocal sample is from the 12" scratch record Path of least resistance by the Skratchlords. But you can practice with just any vocal sample. It's easier to start with a sentence or sample that has clear demarcations between syllables. Then you just need to follow the steps I describe in the tutorial. Good luck with your practice!

Wicked tutorial. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. What is an ultra pitch sample? Sorry for the basic question!

Every Record I'll be Cuttin. Where does the vocal sample come from? Sound like Defari to me.
I don't know, it could be. I got it from the scratch record used in this video.
How can I get the same vocal clip so that I practice this?
