@@Stealthfulness I'm not sure he enjoyed it, but he needed clean, ironed shirts for work each day. So he got very good at doing ironing, as a bachelor.
@@SarahlabyrinthLHC Tell him to try out steam ♨️. I was indecisive and have decided that I too do not like ironing at all lol. It is quite aggravating, especially when it creates more wrinkles. I'm going back to steaming, which is in my experience even more effective than ironing. I steamed a shirt for a few minutes that I was having trouble ironing and it turned out way better and more appealing overall. You can flatten out the pleats with a steamer too unlike an iron.
You crack me up Ironing Corn 😂. Great job ironing the shirt. In addition, I have a friend who hates having a crease all the way down the sleeve of his shirt. He uses a small ironing board which fits into the sleeve and rotates the sleeve as he irons. Voila! I iron very rarely now because I have a reduced and less formal wardrobe of clothes now. I still press linen items but I really don’t miss ironing at all.
You'd be amazed at what we could do if we didn't have smart phones and internet. In this case you'd walk around looking like you got hit with a wrinkle bomb but i'm sure you'd eventually figure out. 😂
I've struggled with ironing. It seems like once I iron one side and go to the other, the side I just ironed gets all wrinkled all over again because of how it lays on the ironing board. Its so frustrating. Any tips for preventing that? Someone once suggested that I put a little starch in the distilled water spritzer but I haven't tried that yet. Thanks for the great content!
Doing the body last really seems to be the trick. Also, make sure you do several passes to dry out the fabric from the spritz. The water helps to make it easier to iron but also, much easier to wrinkle. I hope that helps.
To be honest after all these years, almost everyone who sees you can't tell the difference between a decent 5 minute ironed shirt vs a detailed 10 minute iron, after an hour of wearing said shirt.
You should find a shirt(/mrn's undrreear) that was buried for 20-25 years and makr it off the shrlf perfrct Couldn't have said it better I'm pleased to say or declare that i have a good entry level detergent of the type for such a purpose. Shouldn't leave any burns when ironing.
NO STARCH!?💀 I’m just kidding but I do love starching my shirts with the crispest starch I can find. Apparently it keeps stains out too. I imagine it would help against yellowing and collar stains as well as cuff stains
you iron on the front of the shirt around the buttons. There's a gap for the button on the iron so you can get in and around it. So who told you that you were ironing your shirt wrong, what was it that you were doing wrong?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience in the comments here with myself and others. In the first video, I have done it in the reverse order so folks in the comments highlighted that.
@@CorneliusQuiring I've only just subscribed so I haven't seen that one as yet. I really love how you make everything look easy even for a beginner, sewing not ironing. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself. It's great to get to hear about the folks watching my content. I am glad to hear that my videos are of use to you.
Sorry to burst your bubble, however this is not the "proper" way to do it but rather subjective. Water spray is unnecessary with steam action. Turns out, you're ironing the wrong side of your collar! You only need to iron/steam the other side. I personally prefer steaming vs ironing and have found it to be even more adequate. The steamer can easily tackle wrinkles that are extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to get with an iron. It can also eliminate pleats unlike an iron. Steaming does not introduce wrinkles the way that ironing does either. It additionally gives the shirt a much more relaxed look and feel.
My mom passed down her ironing business to me when I was 16 and we've been ironing shirts that way since 1982

Good on your friend, that's a handy little board :) You're onto something having a less formal wardrobe.
Hi Corn. Thanks for the info. Seems we've all been doing it wrong. I'm making a tailor's ham tomorrow using your pattern. Thanks for the pattern ❤
We're all here to learn. Hopefully your ham turns out as you hope and is as useful as you need it to be.
Thank you for the video, about to get my iron and wanting to know how to do this properly lol

Make sure to spray the wrinkle with water first and let it soak in for a bit.
