It's nice to know that as time went on she's gradually come to terms with some of her anxieties. Found this channel not long ago but I've binge through almost all of your polka clip. She's the least I watched in 5th gen prior to these but now that I know she's not just a bundle of pure chaos and laughter I've come to appreciate her more. I just double checked her debut date. It has been just over two months,and there has been a particularly bad incident affecting the Holofive in such a short time. I understand why she might have these nightmares, but didn't know the depths it went. Just being glad she has one rather good, albeit morbid, dream. I think the idea of "volition" was the reason the dream was refreshing. If you are harried or hunted and then die, that fight or flight response is from cortisol, the stress hormone, which has real effects on your body even if the stressor is imaginary. Her dream, however, was filled with calm imagery and people. When she felt anxiety going through with it, her request for support was answered, even if the way it was fulfilled wasn't what she expected. It seems like a very peaceful dream to me. Its just little things on how she acts that you can just tell make her very happy to be liked by her peers. We gotta do right by her too. Somehow im not impressed at all by polka having this kind of dreams, but i would like everyone to understand something about dreams: It doesnt matter _what_ you dreamed about (I personally dream with people and stuff dying all the time, but nothing happening to me), but rather how you felt while you dreamed. What I mean is that obviously polka has many fears because she gets this sudden wake ups, but in that dream even if she talks about dying, its important how she stated that she doesnt feel fear of dying (at least not completely) and she actually went through with it, and she woke up relaxed, feeling good even. Its like how in videogame worlds sometimes death isnt a big deal or isnt a thing at all, in this case polka said that it wasnt weird for people to manually die in that world. It was a "good dream" after all even if it sounds weird. We already know she is a little wonky sanity wise, but im happy that she is getting through some of the most obvious fears she have, she still apologizes for "being loud" but she is more confident anyways, she just needs (and deserve) love

100% can vouch for this. At a really low point in my life, I was a failure, but I lied to my parents and kept things hidden. Dreams consisted mostly of my failures coming to light and me arguing with my parents. It was tough. And I would wake up feeling shitty.

I'm running from a ghost, zombies, killers, the police; always running from something or someone, even if I'm a different person in the dream 95% of my nightmares are like this and also yeah it hurts!!! they say you don't feel pain in your dreams but that's a lie, I've been hurt when they get me and the shock wakes me up. Ah man, now this make more sense now with the latest member's ASMR stream, in November 14th (if this video couldn't make more sense in its own). She vented out some problems while crying and we fans saw what was probably the weakest (emotionally speaking) Polka has ever been. Don't worry she's fine and good, it's just that those anxieties still hasn't been erased from her head completely, and it doesn't help that she is very hard on herself, making those few problems amplify. As someone who mostly has strange and confusing dreams, often involving misfortune and death, I think it's very brave to talk about the dreams. For me, it's very difficult to talk about them , they feel very personal, and my mind fogs the memories up very quickly after I wake up. Sometimes I take notes in my phone after waking up so I don't forget too quickly... The most devastating dreams I ever had were actually very positive ones, where something incredible like in a fantasy happens. When you wake up, they fill you with a kind of nostalgia for this different world that you can never enter again. The people you meet, the things that were possible are suddenly gone forever. It can be very sad.
It's usually the ones who smile on the outside who hurt on the inside the most. Not to be cliche or anything. I can't say I didn't expect her to have experienced something like this, but I guess it was surprising to find out she spoke outwardly about it, although I guess it was the better dream that led her to. Some might think that it's awful that her "pleasant dream" is her still dying, but I disagree. I can a bit related to her. While I don't have a nightmare as often as her, it always hurts so bad when you woke up and felt your body covered in sweat, being stressed and unable to breathe due to fear and anxiety. I hope she can have a good dream now and forever.
I keep coming back to this clip, I think it really hits on something pretty, I would dare to say, deep, but I don't quite have the words for it. Maybe this is just my preconceived notion, but more than most Polka seems, like, very aware of why people end up connecting to entertainers in the first place. I think that's really fascinating, and I think it's why she's rapidly become one of my favorite vtubers. Regardless of the truth of the matter; I cannot thank you enough for subtitling these things. About her dream, there's a curious thing with dream symbology where the more you believe it's useful the more likely it actually is to *be* useful, because of the way different parts of the subconscious mind influence each other. Gen 5 have had to go through some messed up stuff ever since they started and she's had to deal with a number of fumbles and tech issues. For someone feeling so much pressure all that must hit very hard. Reminds me of this one dream where it was like peak nostalgic summer afternoon noon and I just watched everything around me get swallowed by a black hole and I just smiled and cried. It was a really good dream and I woke up with wet cheeks. I get where she's coming from.

Dreams are not prophetic or visions or anything. Its just your brain going through memories at random and it can force emotions on you. I've had dreams where I was left all alone in the world and I woke up melancholic, but calm and relaxed. Its not because I like being alone, quite the opposite, but because of how my dream decided to frame it as some "serene isolation on a beautiful earth" I felt like I had accepted being lonely. In reality, it was just my brain forcing that emotion on me. I've had nightmares of fears I don't have in real life like going to prison for murder even though I never ever think about it while awake. I think it's unhealthy for people to take dreams too seriously. They become attached to it as a guideline or an actual growing experience when it's just a lottery. I'm someone who's glad to have no dreams. I love being awake.
I've finally been getting into Gen 5 after 2 months in the peko hole. I went from clips, to peeking at livestreams, to subbing to the girls, to making like a treasure hunter and subbing to any and all TL channels I could find, to watching livestreams to SCing when I have money. I must say, I've been liking Polka since I first saw her (ngl I avoided gen 5 coz everyone was angry about Aloe and I didn't really know the situation) and honestly I'm bummed out that I don't understand anything beyond interpreting how EN chat reacted, so I tend to look more at the chat than Polka herself. Plus that recent stream where drunk Lamy called Polka... I went to both of their archives and only found "TL;DR Polka is jelly of Botlamy horror dates" and bruh even my nihongo illiterate ass knows that's not all that was talked about. I like your dedication to Polka, tho imo you could still monetize your clips. I plan to stick around, so yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Anxiety is a b!tch, isn't it? Back when I first got my driving license, I often dreamed of driving poorly, causing accidents, totaling the vehicle, etc. It almost made me hate driving. But once I managed to shake those feelings off, I could do it no problem. And unless it's those kinds of dreams, I either don't have dreams, or they fades completely from memory as if it never happened.
I had a dream where I died once but it wasn't by my own volition. I was fighting and someone killed me. Having dreams about killing yourself is kinda dark.
I'm sorry if this wasn't the case but the it seem her bad dream come from a toxic life style. To specially name it, she may eat a lot before sleep and mess up her stomach. Nightmare sometimes is just your brain trying to warning you about your body being harmed.

As someone who mostly has strange and confusing dreams, often involving misfortune and death, I think it's very brave to talk about the dreams. For me, it's very difficult to talk about them , they feel very personal, and my mind fogs the memories up very quickly after I wake up. Sometimes I take notes in my phone after waking up so I don't forget too quickly...
The most devastating dreams I ever had were actually very positive ones, where something incredible like in a fantasy happens. When you wake up, they fill you with a kind of nostalgia for this different world that you can never enter again. The people you meet, the things that were possible are suddenly gone forever. It can be very sad.
It's usually the ones who smile on the outside who hurt on the inside the most. Not to be cliche or anything. I can't say I didn't expect her to have experienced something like this, but I guess it was surprising to find out she spoke outwardly about it, although I guess it was the better dream that led her to.
Some might think that it's awful that her "pleasant dream" is her still dying, but I disagree. By the translations of her wording, as well as her tone, it's sort of implied that she just dies, outside of her control. For her to be able to find the means to even choose such a fate is probably like the world lifting off her shoulders. Hopefully she does have a lot more happy dreams.
I laughed at this clip, and I know that sounds bad, but for me, I just got to enjoy another piece of Polka that I hadn't known of before. I'm not laughing at her distress, but instead at what everyone is drawn to her by. Her charisma, her tone of voice, her addictive laughter. For the people who might look at this in a negative way, please try to do the opposite. Polka shared such an experience not because she thought it was horrible, or awful, but because she felt positively about it.

I keep coming back to this clip, I think it really hits on something pretty, I would dare to say, deep, but I don't quite have the words for it.
Maybe this is just my preconceived notion, but more than most Polka seems, like, very aware of why people end up connecting to entertainers in the first place. I think that's really fascinating, and I think it's why she's rapidly become one of my favorite vtubers. Regardless of the truth of the matter; I cannot thank you enough for subtitling these things.
About her dream, there's a curious thing with dream symbology where the more you believe it's useful the more likely it actually is to *be* useful, because of the way different parts of the subconscious mind influence each other. This is a simplified way of looking at it, but you can regard it as the subconscious assuring you that things will be "alright" in some way even in very dark situations. Perhaps that's (part of) why she woke up feeling well.
Of course, you know, I may be totally off. I don't know her personally. Still, that these clips inspire this kind of thought at all is something really special. I hope she continues to do well at Hololive both with her more chaotic jester stuff and quieter things like this, she hit 350k subs today, so hopefully that's a sign that it's all up from here. It really does feel like she had a lot bottled up inside before joining Hololive. Gen 5 have had to go through some messed up stuff ever since they started and she's had to deal with a number of fumbles and tech issues. For someone feeling so much pressure all that must hit very hard. Hopefully things will start going for the better from now on, but bits like this are good reminder of how it's important to support the person behind the avatar.
Reminds me of this one dream where it was like peak nostalgic summer afternoon noon and I just watched everything around me get swallowed by a black hole and I just smiled and cried. It was a really good dream and I woke up with wet cheeks. I get where she's coming from.
for me the most painful dreams are the good ones cause when you wake up the feeling of dissapointment just burst through your head maybe sometimes make you cry and blaming yourself "why cant i be like that" while bad dreams can sometimes be painfull the feeling of relief will always calm you down

Dreams are not prophetic or visions or anything. Its just your brain going through memories at random and it can force emotions on you. I've had dreams where I was left all alone in the world and I woke up melancholic, but calm and relaxed. Its not because I like being alone, quite the opposite, but because of how my dream decided to frame it as some "serene isolation on a beautiful earth" I felt like I had accepted being lonely. In reality, it was just my brain forcing that emotion on me. I've had nightmares of fears I don't have in real life like going to prison for murder even though I never ever think about it while awake.
I think it's unhealthy for people to take dreams too seriously. They become attached to it as a guideline or an actual growing experience when it's just a lottery. I'm someone who's glad to have no dreams. I love being awake.
As someone who only has dreams maybe once a year, it's not healthy. I day dream constantly, but nothing activates when I am asleep.
I've finally been getting into Gen 5 after 2 months in the peko hole. I went from clips, to peeking at livestreams, to subbing to the girls, to making like a treasure hunter and subbing to any and all TL channels I could find, to watching livestreams to SCing when I have money. I must say, I've been liking Polka since I first saw her (ngl I avoided gen 5 coz everyone was angry about Aloe and I didn't really know the situation) and honestly I'm bummed out that I don't understand anything beyond interpreting how EN chat reacted, so I tend to look more at the chat than Polka herself. Plus that recent stream where drunk Lamy called Polka... I went to both of their archives and only found "TL;DR Polka is jelly of Botlamy horror dates" and bruh even my nihongo illiterate ass knows that's not all that was talked about.

Anxiety is a b!tch, isn't it? Back when I first got my driving license, I often dreamed of driving poorly, causing accidents, totaling the vehicle, etc. It almost made me hate driving. But once I managed to shake those feelings off, I could do it no problem. And unless it's those kinds of dreams, I either don't have dreams, or they fades completely from memory as if it never happened.
I had a dream where I died once but it wasn't by my own volition. I was fighting and someone killed me. Having dreams about killing yourself is kinda dark.

Try not to psychoanalyse online personalities based off of the very narrow slices of their lives you get to see. It won't lead to any realistic conclusions and when said content creators get constantly told there's something wrong with them, that might become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I'm sure she is/was fine. Some people simply dream more. Similarly, my own complete absence of dreams doesn't concern me either.

Maybe "taboo" was a bit of a strong word to use in the introduction segment, what she does say is, "you are not really supposed to talk about your dreams", possibly meant in the sense that talking to others about your own dreams, unprompted, can easily make them feel uncomfortable.

Dreams are inconsistent and don't always follow conscious logic. The dream-need to communicate may have just manifested as speaking, without triggering the logical conflict with being Unable To Speak, if that makes any sense.
