This video's kinda long, so there are more translation notes to talk about compared to other videos. In addition, the outro of this video has a link to Jin Teramachi's highlight reel if you haven't seen it yet. Also, this video has a bonus scene at the end. Expand for the TL Notes. First off, Okayu's English isn't great, and she mispronounces "Among Us." I thought about writing "Amongst Us" as a mistake, but I figured it was more natural to show that she just didn't know how to pronounce it, rather than showing that she got it confused with a different word. Around 2:22, Okayu mentions Pekora saying "THAT CAT!!" In actuality, it was "THIS CAT!!" but whatever. I thought about writing "THIS DAMN CAT!!" or "THAT DAMN CAT!!" instead to showcase a more aggressive Pekora, but since I linked Jin's highlight video, I wanted to keep my translation consistent with his. 3:02, Okayu actually says that she thinks she herself shut the doors, but in actuality, it was Nene. I think Okayu just slipped up here, so I changed the line to fit with what actually happened. As an additional note, you guys should watch Nene (or Nene clips if you can't watch her actual streams), she's incredibly fun. I hope Okayu does more collabs with Nene. At 7:36, Okayu says 八方塞がり (happoufusagari), which means to be corned and all paths blocked off. I decided that a good matching phrase was "having your back up against the wall," though saying that Towa was cornered would work as well. Speaking of Towa, I struggled a bit with whether or not to leave "ArigaTowa" in. On one hand, it's a Japanese pun, I thought I should translate it. So the first thing I came up with was "Towa Maji Thanks," but that still had "Maji" in it, so I then changed it to "Towa Mad Thanks." But that had the issue of being a reference to the Towa fanbase's TMT phrase, which Okayu was not making a reference to. I figured the complete localization was kinda funny, but in the end, made it harder to get. Even though it's a Japanese pun, I think a lot of westerners, even those who aren't enamored with Anime-esque culture, know what "arigatou" means. My final TL Note is more of a little joke. Whenever I name my rough drafts, I always make a stupid joke name for them. In this video's case, it was "Local porridge cat recounts horrifying space murder fever dream." One of my QCs asked me to include a note about this somewhere because they found it amusing, so yeah.
She has the equivalent of a poker face but with her voice. Even english viewers can see (hear) that much. It really is hard to decipher what shes lying about
Alot of people have been learning from VTubers and some study tools like hiragana/katakana pro and kawaiinihongi apps. It's good to start asap because it takes a long time to truely understand. Jisho iirc is a english to jp dictionary site for kanji as well. It may take 6months to 2years but I believe Okayu is one of the best to study from because her sentences are pretty simple and she doesn't use alot of slang. Okayu is so precious. And it's true what she's saying, I was watching Noel's stream and the smooth kills came out of nowhere, wholesome Danchou was ice cold lol. Thanks for the TL!
Really have to thank Towa for spreading the Among Us fever among Hololive, although I'm not sure if some of them have already started playing on their own by then. In any case, watching Hololive play Among Us has been incredibly entertaining, definitely wishing more collabs to come.
Before the Taiwan fiasco, Coco was thinking about organizing Among Us, but someone spread a rumor that the game leaks IPs. After things calmed down on that rumor, the HoloStars actually organized a collab first. Coco might've been the one to start it in Hololive if not for her 3 week suspension, but no one can know for sure now (except them, I guess).
Okayu playing Among Us is really great! Because it's like my favorite game for now, and seeing them think made it so fun compared to the lobbies in among us, it was really fun to watch her among us stream ww
I've been calling Among Us Werewolves in Space like since it became the fun meme game and only one of my friends (Who coincidentally I've played a lot of werewolves with) has agreed with it, so I'm glad Okayu has completely vindicated my take
Most of the Hololivers called impostors werewolves and crewmates villagers. So yeah. It also helps that a lot of the Hololivers have played werewolf on stream.
Okayu normally doesn't remember things very well. The fact that she remembered the matches in such vivid detail showed how much she enjoyed playing Among Us.

Okayu's right that Noel was the real shock as a super-detective, and I say that as a big-time Noel fan. People expect Suisei to solve crimes from the dark side like Hannibal Lecter, and Botan is the Choco-confirmed mega-brain of Hololive conducting meetings like Hercule Poirot, but Noel was just as effective as them as her normal, sweet and gentle-sounding persona. Like Angela Lansbury in _Murder She Wrote,_ if she were also a secret spree killer like Dexter
6:00 Towa was wrong about that though. That's how the game can be played. Successful players do that exact thing. (I'm totally not referencing a certain cyan player who disguises himself). It's a lot harder to do with say a public game, but with friends, that's exactly people get sussed out. Heck, you could totally do that to a lesser extent with other games. But Among Us REALLY lets people do that type of analysis.
Most of the players referred to crewmates as villagers, and impostors as werewolves (even Mio). That's because they had the werewolf game as reference. There are instances where Hololive played the Werewolf game. It's totally possible that when the game was explained to them, the werewolf game was used to explain the whole concept of Among Us.
Now this makes me want to search up what the Nijisanji crew thought of their own games... Also... The game: impostOOOOOOOOOOOOr A lot of editors adding subtitles: impostEEEEEEEEEEEEEEr I know that both spellings are good, but seeing them in this context just makes me want to shock whoever is writing the subs...
Metagaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Another definition refers to the game universe outside of the game itself. Metagaming in Among Us comes in various forms. For example, saying you are not a con artist and asking other players to confirm it. Or it could be that the players have the task of taking care of other players while doing the task. The goal is to make sure a player does the task or not.
So can someone shed a light on me about this "meta talk" that Okayu were talking about? Is that really not okay in this game though? This is the first time I heard about rules like that :o I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering whether it is some kind of like internet rules or common sense or cultural thingy or what, because I never thought about saying things like that were off-limits
Likely just some house rules that Towa set up. It's possible that she thought saying things like "that person isn't imposter this round because they've been imposter 3 games in a row, so it's really unlikely it's them again" would be boring/unfun. In the end they did A LOT of meta talk anyway (the entire argument Pekora had against Noel was based on meta arguments), so they probably came around to it. I haven't been following up with the more recent Among Us games, but it's probably not off limits in their games.
