    I’ve seen people mount epiphytic plants in old vintage picture frames or shadow boxes, some even add small LED grow lights and I think it looks soooo good

    Love these! I also love to be frugal, so I’m gonna see if I can find a tote bag at dollar tree and use that for material 🤑 you could even paint something cute on the canvas!

    The rectangle length should be right if you subtract the seam allowance of the bottom circle before multiplying ☺

    The circumference of a circle is pie x radius.
    I think you did pie x diametre.
    Thank you for sharing

    • @irairod5160
      @irairod5160 Год назад +1

      Dear Rachana: Circumference is (2*pi*radius) OR (pi*diameter). She used the formula correctly; where she went wrong was in adding the seam allowance of the circle in her calculations for the tube. If she had only used the exact diameter of the pot, without the inches she added for seam allowance, her side panels would've been a much closer match. (Did you make a bag like this? I'm about to. Wish me luck and good sewing!)

    Love this! Goodness I have to look at my fabric and see if I have any to make these. DIY idea- have you seen those cute little clay mushrooms that you can stick in your plants? Like tiny happy little decorations. Kinda cheesy but adorable. I made some years ago but they didn’t turn out that well. Would love a tutorial for cute little plant things like that. Or plant support ideas. Like tomato cage but actually cute for plants like oxalis that need support but wouldn’t do well on a stake/plank.

  • @elainemigues6580
    @elainemigues6580 2 года назад +3

    The length was too long cuz you calculated the it using 8 for diameter instead of the original 6, in this case you should use the real diameter: 6*pi = 18.85 + sewing allowance

  • @aroidpapa

    I love these, though, I would have also gone the extra step and waxed them so they don't get ruined by soil/water in the long term.

    this is great, thank you! I wonder whether the rectangular piece was too long because the seam allowance on the circle piece in effect reduced the diameter. I would love to see a DIY on how to make a wooden plank configuration that would allow the plank to stay out of the soil... and be a little more stable than leaning it against a wall etc.

    • @BeccaDeLaPlants
      @BeccaDeLaPlants  2 года назад +2

      OOOOOOOH. You know what, you’re right I think that’s what happened!!! So I should maybe do 7 or maybe even 6 for the pi equation. Hmm I need to make another one to see 😂 did you see my video I posted right before this? I showed how I made my planks by stapling plant stakes to them and sticking that in the soil! So only the bottom of the plank touches the soil and it’s pretty secure, honestly.

    • @mirandabeaudry7936
      @mirandabeaudry7936 2 года назад

      Yeah I second that. When the circle was being pinned, the diameter reduced to about 6 inches so your actual rectangle length requirement was closer to 18” instead of 25”
      Honestly it’s not your math skills at fault or anything. it’s just the whole confusing part of sewing in general lol!! Turning flat things into 3D things always has its sneaky tricks in my experience haha

    These bags are so cute. You're so creative. I love watching your DIYs. Btw, I know this was a while ago but the circumference formula is C=2(Pi)(r) so your calculation of Pi x D should have come out to the same. Not sure what happened but your math was right. 😂

    Did you maybe use 8 in as the diameter when multiplying with pi instead of 6 in? Anyways love videos like this!

    • @BeccaDeLaPlants
      @BeccaDeLaPlants  2 года назад

      I did do that but I thought since the diameter of the circle was 8 I should use that? 🤔 I wanted the bag to be bigger than the pot so that’s why I did 8. Agh math I can’t do it lol
      Edit: another comment said the math probably didn’t work out because the seam allowance on the circle made the diameter smaller so you’re right, I probably should have used 6, maybe 7 instead of the 8!!

    Is there a way to make a macrame one that isn’t hung up? Ooohhh, maybe a crocheted granny square bag? Four granny squares connected and a fifth one for the bottom? 🤷‍♀️

    I think it’s because you multiplied 8 by pi and not 6 by pi and then added an inch or two. The extra allowance that the eight inch pot gave you got multiplied by pi instead of just adding the two inches at the end. 🤷🏼‍♀️
