I strongly recommend this on the 24 models because the wobble is crazy on that bike. I just laid mine down because my wobble didn't stop as the road started to curve and I wasn't even going that fast.
I've had to fight off tank slap hitting a small pothole in the road. I will say after installing a steering when I went through it again I had no issues
Hey so, I've come from your yoshimura install, and then the integrated lights, eliminator and then this, I just wanted to drop a comment, to say that your videos are of really nice quality, and I love your style of doing the videos, it is really pleasing to watch. +sub
Revzilla says it’s a $1,600 kit for all the brackets and what not... can’t believe this bike didn’t come with it. I just have an m4 slip on, on mine, but I am getting a tune this summer, and will be switching up the sprocket size. I’ve gotten some nasty wobbles on this thing. Once was in 5th gear going about 90 uphill, no hard acceleration and BOOM out of nowhere the throttle was ripped out of my hand and it scared the living hell out of me, I was in a funk the rest of the day. Really feel the need for this before getting the tune though.
Just looking into installing one myself on a '21. The Ohlins manual says to tighten the nut to vehicle's specs, OR 100Nm (~74 ft-lbs) if no specs are provided. However, Kawasaki does provide specs for the stock "steering stem head bolt" of 58 ft-lbs (at least in the 2018 service manual I'm looking at). I believe this is the value that should be used, 74 ft-lbs would be excessive.
Is this suggested for just high speed guys? Is the zx6r unstable or something at high speed? Picking up mine today but its only gonna be a weekend cruiser for now.
Steering stabilizer is to prevent tank slappers. The bike is stable at high speeds but this keeps the bike controllable in the event you hit a pothole at high speed or something else happens that impacts stability.
Good morning, Merry Christmas. Watching your video helped me a lot, but I have a question, is there an electronic steering damper for the Kawasaki ZX6R?
Do you notice any vibration noises coming from your damper? I have a 19 ZX-6R with the same damper and it makes a bit of an annoying noise at certain RPMs. Great product otherwise and makes the bike even more confidence inspiring.
Will hi bud im in the same situation as your, mine vibrates like fcking mad and its audible too so annoying , im glad to know im not the only one , im wondering if i have missed a washer hence why the noisy vibrations
I did a long ride yesterday (first long ride since install) and I didn't notice any buzzing or vibrations. Did you get that white nylon washer installed?
This kind of safety feature should come pre-installed on these bikes. Kind of ridiculous that something so seriously important like this (proven to be necessary) - is considered to be an aftermarket add-on !!
Some will say this steering damper isn’t necessary, i also said that untill i experienced tank slapper (my bike is only a 250). So definately gonna install it on my bike. Btw is that a Nico Yazawa keychain? Its very cute
Had 2-3 tank slappers with my 2017 zx6r, and i can assure you that you don't need strong arm to counter it, in fact, the more force you try to hold and greater will be the wobble. The only thing to do is just hold the clips gently and let the bike realign itself. But i can say that this is scary as hell. The damper eliminates the responsivness of the steering with adding resistance. I live in Canada so the tarmac is in bad condition so i'm thinking of putting one. Cheers
Which button are you talking about? I don't have oil leaking anywhere on the damper, it may be that the oil is just there from assembly and not coming through any seals?
I'm assuming this is one of those "may differ from photos" product? as so far I can only see this clunky looking black mount form everyone including revzilla which clearly is not the case in this video
Get this one instead of GPR! GPR didn't fit and blocked the keyhole. Check out other videos comment section. People were complaining back in 2013 and they still didn't fix it.
It doesn't touch if that's what you're asking. On full lock right, the bars are closer to hitting the aluminum bracket than it is to touching the heim joint.
I have had speed wobble on my bike not to bad but I have had it unfortunately racing because I cant handle my anxiety but I have had now I need to know is that steering damper worth it or would a different one be suggested? From what I have read on the comments they have felt vibrations from theres, any chance you feel any vibrations?
Hi! I’ve had the damper for a couple months now and the bolt connecting the damper holder and the base seem to be loosening on its own after riding for a while, does it happen on yours at all? I’ve tried tightening it as much as I can but still, fell off once when i was riding on the freeway and made two dents on my tank...
Everything seems to be good, but i have started to get that buzz that others have mentioned. I honestly only hear it if i get on the bike without a helmet (which is infrequent on this bike) but I'm going to see if some nylon washers quiet it down.
@@eastcoastish Any updates on this? I recently purchased the damper damper for a 2020 636 and I'm curious If I should buy some washers before the install

I'm sure i'll appreciate it if I ever need it, but again, if it does what it's supposed to, it should prevent what would be a tank slapper to just a quick bit of instability.
Howcome? This is how ohlins designs it. However, kawasaki oem accessory mounting bracket uses the tank bolts and a location under the top triple tree to the right of the center nut - which seems better. The main difference between the mounts being weather the damper moves on axis with the forks or just back and forth perpendicular to the tank.

Can I still install a quad lock fork stem mount even if i have this?
