I know the adjustable is wrong but hey I know I'm not the only guy that does it.

When i uploaded this i didn't realize how much critiquing I would get. I don't give a fuck if you don't like the way i do it. I do it right and i know what I'm doing. it was a day job and i was having some fun. I work in a timely manner that gets the job done on time.
And yeah i am a union Fitter and proud of it. They have taken care of me and have my back. A company fucked me around and moths later i got a big check for what i was owed. you can try and hate on Union fitters all you want but its not going to get you anywhere except make you look like a moron.

@@BeardedBotanist 13 years in the trade now. This video is 7 years old...I never gave up and now I've got a wicked career. If you know the angles of what you are wrenching you simply do not need a hold back. if i was wrenching branch lines together in straight runs a hold back would be crucial but just swinging in drops just hold the pipe right. as an apprentice i learned that quickly.

In my opinion, when you tighten heads on the machine, always have the wrench in your hand. That way you feel how tight it is. If you are smart with it, it's faster and isn't a big deal when experienced with it. Really tho, we don't even carry hack saws these days. Surprised you didn't bust out a bandsaw. Shoulda flipped the drop around to thread the other end of it too

You obviously learned a ton of the wrong shit. Have your company buy you a NFPA 13 code book and on your break at work or while your on the shitter you should read alittle bit. See how you’ve been taught how to do it the wrong way. Teaming the pipe is a code. Nfpa 13 calls it deburring the pipe. Allows maximum flow. But yeah I can tell your non union cause the first thing we’re taught as brand new apprentices is how to run the machine properly, cutting, threading, and grooving pipe. Start to teach yourself the right way cause the guys you work with are morons. Something else, join the union, you won’t regret it.

Must be a union guy huh lol. That’s funny. I made more as 2nd or 3rd year apprentice than you scab foreman make. How the fuck can you not like unions. We protect our jobs, our work, we have two pensions, the whole nine. I agree with what the other guy said the most profitable companies out there by far are union companies. Bottom line is “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. SKILLED LABOR ISNT CHEAP AND CHEAP LABOR ISNT SKILLED”. Tell you the same thing I tell my customers. Let the scabs install it and we’ll be back within a year to start the repair work. You scabs keep our union service vans running around the clock. Pittsburgh Local 542

Signed in just to reply to ya.
The problem with unions is they don’t sift through the shit.
If you’re a lazy piece of shit; and do shit work, you shouldn’t be making the same as the guy who’s killing it.
All of the ultra pro union guys I know are terrible employees. I’m certainly pro union as there is a necessity for it; however there’s too many scum bag sprinkler fitters that would rather play hide-and-seek on a high rise job than actually get shit done. You gotta admit it’s a problem.
Also the mentality of “look at what I get as a union guy!” Is ridiculous. You personally didn’t do fuck all to earn that; the union did it. 4 years isn’t enough time to perfect the trade and earn the big bucks; can’t tell me buddy who spent 4 years installing heads in office buildings should be paid the same as someone who’s done 10+ slamming in deluge; dry; pre-action systems and fire pumps. The system is broken.

+Juozas L it's a really really good paying easy job once you get the hang of it . just gotta get some knowledge on the different types of fittings, sprinkler head types, blueprint reading , etc.. you'll get it in no time . just prepare yourself that you will have to unload and load a rigid machine with a heavy oiler box almost every day and lifting 24ft pipping on your shoulder. good luck man

I'm 18 in community college. It's whatever taking classes, but I want to start working in a field where I gain knowledge hands-on and class time. My dad told my about the local 602 steamfitters but I don't know I they would take me in for being 18-19. I have worked with copper pipes a solder, carpentry, and HV/AC with adults. I really don't mind labor work as long as I am getting paid for the work. I have heard a few times that it's hard to find work and journeymen are dicks that throw you under the bus. :/ Any advise for me?
