  • What is involved in a 5 year inspection? This just a little bit of what's it takes to do these inspections. Of course you can't know everthing?

      Well, good luck on your new adventures. Like I always say. Nothing is easy. People think inspecting fire sprinkler systems would be easy and some parts are but when you have to go fix your corrections, that’s where it starts to get hard. Good luck in your future career. Thank you again for watching. Thank you again for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    Wow if you guys only have to do that, we should open a California location. 😂. Here we gotta do the hydro on the Standpipe / FDC, check valves gotta be opened & inspected, flush all piping, do an internal inspection of the piping for foreign organic and inorganic material. It's an all day, sometime 2-3 days of work for a 5-year depending on total risers.

      That would be cool! of course I can't take you inside the building and show you all of the inspection.

      Most don’t do a true 5yr. Many pop a head or a cap & say they’re done. Kinda get what you pay for most the time. I’m training some of the guys @ a company I just started @ and they’ve been doing a poor job but was never shown nor had any experience. I think all inspectors need a back ground in service & it don’t hurt for service to have experience in inspections. I’ve done both as well as new installs. One thing I’ve found out no one knows everything & I like to think I know a lot. There’s many who’ve their nicet who just don’t know enough to do service or inspections. Most time nothing is found in 5yrs unless it’s a dry system but I’ve found from pill bottles to rags so you just never know.

    Cool video I like to extra entertainment as well. The 911 bell sign sticker is genius! I’ve never seen them. I’m in So-cal the homeless deal is getting out of hand. I like your style and I did cringe 😬 once or twice. Yanking the rod out of the FDC under pressure, abrasions on the check, parking cars and leak. You probably have a smooth finish on that Rod your pop in the check valve with. Not nit picking at all cool video and new subscriber. I’m guessing you run your own work for yourself. Self employed?

      Well, thank you for paying attention. Of course I could not take you into the tenant space and let you see the inside of peoples businesses. That would not be right. People don’t want to be on film and you can’t really show inside a private business. Of course I don’t show you everything. But the Hydro of the FDC well we don’t do that here in California. We just do a backflush. But I’ve heard other people complain about that also. Thank you for watching and thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    Hi Jim, I have a question, if the 5yr sprinkler is also due the same year as the annual inspection, does the 5yr take over in place of the annual? I'm not sure why but the sprinkler vendor postponed the annual and went ahead with the 5yr inspection

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  5 месяцев назад +4

      That is correct. Your annual inspection will be voided out by your five year inspection. Because everything you do in a five-year inspection you do on an annual inspection. But more. So if you are doing a five-year inspection, you do not have to do your annual inspection. But a lot of people only do annual inspections and get away with not doing five-year inspections somehow? I hope I answered that question or just made it more confusing? But the five-year inspection takes care of the annual. Thank you for watching. Thank you for your nice comments. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

      @@JoyCool1 Hi Jim, I have another question, the property I was referring to in my previous comment also has a quarterly inspection. So my question is, will the quarterly be voided as well if it's due the same year as the 5 year inspection? Will it also be voided during an annual? I'm quite confused haha

    • @charissefilteau3372
      @charissefilteau3372 2 месяца назад +1

      It's not voided, but rather superseded@@Acee72 The 5 year supersedes both the Quarterly and Annual inspections, so you can skip both when doing a 5 year. Your next quarterly would be due 3 months from the date of the 5 year and the Annual, one year from the 5 year.

    Would it be better to put a main stop valve above the alarm valve to save water?

    • @JoyCool1
      @JoyCool1  29 дней назад

      That would be a great idea. But I don’t think that that would be up to Code? I think that would be too many valves in the system? But you’re right it would save a lot of water. Thank you again for your nice comments. And thank you for watching. Stay strong and healthy. Bye-bye.

    • @techno4evaa
      @techno4evaa 4 дня назад

      another control valve would be completely unnecessary considering he still has to do internal inspection on system inside building. another being you cannot work on system with pressure on it, so that extra valve still wouldn’t work. also number 1 cause of an IMPAIRED fire sprinkler system is technicians leaving valves closed so no need for 2 valves when 1 is good.

    Giant around. Every now and again I use one of them with work over stairs. But I couldn’t use one of them everyday. Ask your boss to get you a fire hose and a hose monster so you can let them fdc backflushes fly.

      People pay good money for a workout like I get moving that ladder around + I only have to carry one ladder that fits perfect in the bed of the truck. And I'm in a lot of underground parking garages.I see trucks all the time with 3 or 4 ladders tied on their racks, 6',8',10'12' I'm sure you seat to? That's why we see them on the side of a free way.
